MISB Advice

Postby Bonecrusher27 » Thu Jul 19, 2007 1:28 am

Dear people,

I’d like advice on what’s the best way to maintain my MISBs. Some advise sealing it away, others say you should air it from time to time.

For toys like Leader Prime and Ultimate Bumblebee, am I right to say that it makes sense to remove the batteries since unused batteries leak over time? Also, for toys with electronics, are they like plasma TVs or other electronic gadgets that you really should turn them on from time to time to keep them in working order?

However wouldn’t that necessitate removing the toy from the packaging, cutting the ties, etc?

Any other relevant advice from those of you who have MISBs is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You bring to bear some very good questions. I am keeping most of the movie toys myself MISB. I have only opened three of them of which I bought doubles of to have a complete MISB/MOSC set. We did not have to worry about this back in the G1 times.

Personally I would not take the batteries out. The leaking occurs more on the AA and AAA and the like batteries. The ones included are the ones used for hearing aids and the like. Not sure if they leak as well given what and how they are used. If so then consideration might need to be given to taking them out. Speaking for myself I guess that I am going to take the chance with them and not touch them, keep them MISB with the batteries inside the figure in the sealed box.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

i open all my toys even if they are not tf toys im a movie themed figure collector as i can recall atleast once a week have the joints move so that they wont snap when you have like 1 pose per two years because for some reason the plastic gets some reaction with the paint...

i also met someone at my local toyshop giving some advice also that the diecast figures are kept atleast in a glass case because if a certain situation occurs that you are in an air conditioned room and they are all exposed bubbles might form out of those diecast figures... and he also mentioned figures that are dusted are in good conditioned he just didn't say why...

Is Leader Prime really considered mint in sealed box since there is that hole in the front to test his automorph and lights and sound with?

Yes, it is still consider MISB cause it still tape up and still sealed in box. That opening came with the packaging, so it stil consider MISB.
