For those of you that hunt K-marts on a regular basis, some more (8 to be exact) are closing. List can be found here:
http://www.searsmedia.com/tools/02232012_close.html I don't see any info on exactly when they're shutting down, but the liquidations usually happen almost immediately.
Since this impacts toy hunting, I put it in Toy Discussion, but this can be moved if necessary.

Actually, it wouldn't affect toy hunting at all;, whoever shops there anyway aside for the occasional exclusive? K-Mart is almost gone from Texas, yet there are still K-Mart ads on TV!
Top 5 Priorities:
1) BW Neo X-7 Elphaorpha
2) BW II VS-18 Powerhug vs. Autocrusher
3) Universe 2003 Night Slash Cheetor
4) RiD Landfill (regular, not the yellow)
5) BW Convobat (red) & Megalligator (purple)
Also looking for any clear Arms Microns, like Shadow (Gora & R.A.), Hellflame and Shining (O.P. and R.A.).

Sometimes I can find shortpacked stuff at K-marts more easily
because no one shops there.

Or old stock. K-mart is great for finding old stock.

My understanding of how store liquidations work is that a liquidator comes in and removes all merchandise that can still be sold at retail price and sells it somewhere else, so all that remains in the closing store is crap. And sometimes they even bring in crap from other closed stores. If this is true, then you probably won't find any Transformers at clearance prices, not if they think they can get full price or close to full price there or somewhere else.

However, there are *some* things that can certainly be found, like dotm CV commander sets.

Exactly. It's rare, these days, but there are times when you can find a diamond in the rough, thanks to their lackluster performance.

Zellers can be like that up here in Canada. Sometimes you will find old stock of good figures because no body shops there.
But i really do hate going into those scummy old department stores. So depressing. Good riddance.

Depressing and scummy? Yes. But it could've been fixed. Good riddance? No. One less piece of the competitive pie. Makes it harder for everyone, plus those people are losing their jobs, now. Nothing to celebrate or find positive.

Yeah, there is nothing 'good' here. It's bad all around that people are losing their jobs. I worked at the local K-Mart back in 1997 to 2000, and I knew a lot of great folks there.
