morphobots's collection

I've been thinking about posting this for a couple of years, but I kept putting it off because (1) I don't really like blowing my own horn and (2) I also kept thinking it wasn't the "right" time. I didn't have the collection "ready" as I wanted it, either in contents or presentation. Well, I've finally realized that day won't come; the room will always be in flux. I'm missing a few prized pieces from long ago that I had to sell for bills - Galaxy Shuttle, original Soundblaster, MISB G1 Grimlock autographed by Gregg Berger, MISB G1 Thundercracker autographed by John Stephenson, e-Hobby Hauler and animation colors Astrotrain - but I've just gotten back my e-Hobby Sunstorm so I decided to go for it. This isn't in any particular order, and the room is cramped so camera focus is fuzzy in a lot of shots and angles are a bit wonky, but you'll get the idea. And before anyone asks, I display in alt mode for two reasons. One, it saves space. Two, Transformers are "Robots in Disguise". ;)

First look through the door

ark02.jpg
Books and personal Tech Spec bios I wrote for the Unicron Trilogy. "The Ultimate Guide" has been autographed by Simon Furman, Andrew Wildman, and Bob Budiansky. "Genesis" has been autographed by Guido Guidi.

ark03.jpg
If anyone can help me appraise those hologram stickers I'd really appreciate. 1983, so early no Autobots except Prime have animation models and Megatron has a trigger on his cannon. I've never seen them again since I bought them as a kid.

My first repaint - Alpha Trion out of G1 Scourge.

ark16.jpg
Forgot to mention earlier, I envisioned the room as Autobot Headquarters from the G1 show, hence the blinding orange walls and doo-dads stuck on them. Any posters are "monitors."

My G.I. Joe Human Alliance customs

ark19.jpg
Once I got BW Galvatron out of the box, I found you can't get him back inside. Soundwave is broken, the box is merely for display of how packaging used to look. That's my personal original box from way back in '84.

The red box is the official Hasbro press kit for the 2007 movie. It comes with a special ballpoint pen that "transforms" using a push-button.

I know it's the Takara verson, but it was the only decent boxed Prowl I could find for him to sign.

ark26.jpg
This is the second MISB Dinobot Scott signed for me; I had to sell the first, so I was very lucky to catch him again.

Someday I'm going to get around to hanging Unicron rightside up.

Comics (obviously). I'm out of room currently, hence the issues on the floor. I have autographs from Gregg Berger, Simon Furman, Andrew Wildman, Bob Budiansky, John Moschitta, James Raiz, Don Figueroa, and (forgive me) Pat Lee on various issues. The Dreamwave era signatures are so sloppy, though, you can't read them.

Thought it would be a cute in-joke to put the Hot Wheels Mars rover toys in with the movieverse items.

Someday I'll get around to a plaque for that Megatron/Spider-Man display detailing the issue number and publication date.

ark56.jpg
Closer look at my "Temporal Warp" display for BW Megatron with Golden Disks. Mainly just wanted to see what I could cobble together from the junk drawer, but it looks great in the dark with that party light running.

Waiting for Metroplex.

ark58.jpg
Some "cousins" share the room as well.

Boulder Hill is in storage; there's just no room in here for it and its box.

"Weapons Locker." All weapons, accessories, and instructions are stored here, along with Minibots, Mini-casettes, Mini-cons, and packaging examples.

ark62.jpg
The packaging aspect might seem a bit obsessive, but I see this room as a museum of sorts and I want to show as many aspects of the evolution of the brand as I can manage.

And, finally, lest someone think something was obviously missing . . .

That looks really really tidy, and I love the centre furniture piece!
Pretty impressive set-up and collection. :APPLAUSE:

Thank you. I feel keeping this mess organized helps a long way towards visitors not seeing all this as "childish".

Late breaking addition: I received this in an email from Michael McConnohie for donating to his ALS walk. Actually, I told him it wasn't necessary to give something in return, and he replied: "Well, I feel it is, and since I'm me, I win."

That is the most impressive collection/presentation I've seen on here.

Really, really cool.

I love the fact that you spent time and $ on the presentation. That alone is worth its weight in gold. As for your collection...I don't think their are words for this, but dumbfounded is as close as i can get, lol. I do my best to have a decent presentation in order to show others that this is a passion of mine and not childish thing.

Thanks. Sometimes when I stop to think of just what I spent in shelves and brackets I wonder what possessed me to do this.

More likely it was Grapple's spark. "But why can't we do it?!" Maybe if I had Huffer grumbling over my shoulder instead I would have scaled back.

Well, thanks, but I'm not so sure about that. A wood nymph, maybe. But a god?
