MP-05 Megatron

Postby AceBaur Prime » Tue Nov 14, 2006 6:14 pm

Didn't see a topic for this yet, so I thought I'd start one. Megs will get the Masterpiece treatment although (at least here in the US) he will be modified to have the blaze orange tip on the end of the barrel. The article from BBTS is here http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail

No. As was stated on that site. US Customs will confiscate any Megatron toys without that modification since it is illegal to import them into the US without those modifications. If they are discovered, they will be confiscated. Thus, you would never receive your order. Therefore, whether or not you like the idea of them being opened and modified, If you live in the US, this is the only way to get them legally.

ah i get ya, i guess bbts will try to modify the toy as little as possable, is it just importing guns or is it selling toy guns, i dont know if they could remove the gun end and post it sepratly if it was just a customs thing

Its selling, importing, manufacturing anything that resembles a gun at all has to have an orange tip on it. You'll notice that even Classics Megs has orange tips which I think is retarded because I don't think even the dumbest cop could mistake that thing for a real gun

if a cop is dim witted enough to mistake a varient colored nintendo gun for a real gun then he would most certainly mistake a classics megatron for a real gun.

hell even a brain dead monkey could do the math on that one.

just out of curiosity what exactly would a person have to do to either purchase said ordered figure back from the customs agentor at worst confiscate it back by force?

i refuse to use the word steal or stealing since the person who had the ordered figure confiscated would be well within his rights to swipe back that which is through payment of the ordered figure his in the first place.

and if at first peaceful arrangements can't be made if the guy can afford it hire the best damn lawyer in the country if thats what it takes and sue them for theft which is what the actions of the customs agents would be on the matter from a proper viewpoint.

you would be surprised when it comes to the justice system
as someone once said

"if you got the right lawyer we got the best damn justice system in the entire world"

Gawd is correct. If Customs confiscates it, you won’t get it at all; ever. It will be destroyed. Period.

As for the laws, it wasn’t so much the Mintendo gun that caused the problem. It was things like realistic looking cap guns and squirt guns that were the cause of the problem. Even looking at the original G1 Megatron. In gun mode, it looks very much like a real Walther P-38, with few differences to tell it apart. From even a short a distance, someone could very well confuse that with a real gun. This is especially true in low-light conditions. There have also been insidents of robberies commited using toy guns where the victims thought their assailants had real guns instead of toys. A movie from the early-mid 80s called The Legend of Billie Jean demonstrated both of these factors quite effectively.

you got the right connections you would be surprised what you could swipe back from customs.

in the end it all comes down to who you know , how far you are willing to go to get what you want and how much you are willing to pay to make it all possible.

it's a well established fact man

No, you couldn’t. The law is on their side in this instance.

No kidding, by the time you payed for a lawyer you could have just as easily removed it or painted it. I'm not a big fan of the orange tip either but I'm not going risk losing 100 bucks over it.

ADD ON..

its customs.. they protect our country. if what is imported isnt legal in the USA its not getting in.. they are not STEALING it. they by all means are aloud to do it.. they are run by the country , paid by our country , they know our laws. they go by our laws.

and there is no way that no matter who you know. or how much you are willing to pay to get back your precious hundred dollar toy .. you would loose.. really isnt a loop hole there... the judge would laugh you outta his court room.. hell even if it made it to a court....

sometimes when it comes to **** like this it takes an inside job to make sure you get what you want the way you want it as opposed to what you want and the way they want you to have it.

it's all a matter of ones viewpoint on the matter and how far that person is willing to go to get what he wants.

there always have been people like that and there always will be man its one of those constants in life.

me i try to be the type of person who keeps an open minded and unbiased viewpoint on any particuler matter despite how much my doing so happens to offend certian people such as family relatives, politicians, or the feds for that matter.

Silverbolt. This law is the way it is for a reason, and a very good one—saftey. There had been too many insidences in the past of people mistaking a toy gun for a real one, and kids getting killed by cops because of it. And customs must, by law, confiscate any toy guns that they find, that don’t meet Federal regulations. You may not like it, but that is the way it is.

tramp.. we might as well just drop it.. due to the fact they will do what ever it takes to get a damn toy.. that they dont need to put that much trouble into...

I am wondering one thing (directed at UK members). I'm no legal expert, but are the same laws applied so fiercely here in the UK? If the Japanese version has got away without turning the barrel orange, would it not be feasible to order straight from Japan or somewhere else if you're worried about breaking the seals?

Yeah but I think customs probably x-rays all incoming overseas packages and they might confiscate it anyway, or at least stuff that weighs a certain amount. I think someone on this thread said they ordered their MP prime and it took a couple weeks to get it through customs because it was so heavy
