@ Sabrblade: I am calling both Hasbro and Takara Tomy lazy on grounds that they should have been recreating molds by reverse engineering any quality KO pieces or pieces that did not degenerate while saving the scanned data on a computer.

That, and as much as I love me some Dinobots, I have to put the MP-8 on a pending list. To simplify my buying, any characters that are not from G1/Headmasters must either be exclusives (Asian market, Japanese, etc.) or reissues. No clue on the MP stuff, but have him listed in the new 2010 category for the time being.

Because I was going to respond to why they would just reuse a MP-10 Convoy mold for a more complicated figure. I honestly thing that, since they are trying to improve the quality, they would make a slightly newer mold so it would work with the armor.

I slightly cannot, for two reasons:

1) In Japanese continuity, Black Convoy (Nemesis Prime) only existed in the Binaltech continuity. (Binaltech: BT-17 Black Convoy; Alternity: A-01 Convoy - Super Black)

2) e-HOBBY had done a MP-1B Convoy Black Ver. (which is part of the G-2 portion of the Generation 1 timeline.)

It's also kinda funny that BT Black Convoy's body was the basis for Optimus Primal's new body at the end of the events of Alternity.

Which turned out to be the Eldedroids.

Whoa! Maybe it's another Eldedroid toy using the MP-10 mold. Granted that would be boring, lazy, and flat out awful, but still possible.

That actually happened after G-2, which ended with Convoy having his body reconfigured into his original form and applied with the similar/same coating used during his Nebulon Quest days. (Honestly, I am still wondering why they gave him Super Ginrai's number and not God Ginrai's number for that set.) This allowed him to become Cybertron Chief Commander, defeat Galvatron II, and allow Laser Ultra Magnus live to say "Well... If I had my old body, I could beat the snot out of him!"

And besides... If I do recall, they could always allow e-HOBBY make a "Daniel" version of MP-15, if it turns out to be Ultra Magnus.

Good thinking. It would make sense for e-HOBBY to be the ones to make another Eldedroid toy.

I almost hope it's UM because then I can save my money for the next MP figure, which I hope will be Megatron or Shockwave.

Oh, I just thought of an idea that would tick off everybody...

MP-10 Convoy... redecoed into... MP-15... "Optimus Prime USA Edition" (just a straight repackaged release of the Hasbro version).

That was due to Battlestars. Galvatron was the result of Unicron's own power (which would explain Galvatron's madness in season 3), and was further explained in Kiss Players. Dark Nova recovered his crushed body and had undone what Unicron did in order of upgrading Galvatron to Super Megatron. And in a tradition that would make Toei proud (and FYI, Toei says nothing about the Transformers in their gallery's timeline), the two merged and became Ultra Megatron.

Then there was the start of the G-2 era, where he was more of a violence-free Megatron. That changed when humans killed some Destrons, and he obtained his G-2 tank form. And between that and the moment you mentioned, he regained his original form.

Actually, they have yet to make a drone toy... On account that the MP-1B box uses the title "Cybertron Commander" and not "Eldedroid" on it. However, there is the slight chance that it is "Dan"... On account that he did command his own army of drones, and the bio states that Wheeljack and Ga'mede studied Convoy prior to making the drones (which could mean that they gave Dan his own Matrix in order to control his drones).

But thanks. I figured it had to be the next logical step on account that he was found to be near death at one point in the MP-3G comic. Plus, it would make a great jump-in point for e-HOBBY to do a follow-up on that story... Especially with so many collectors here be willing to shove out the money for such an exclusive.

Or better yet... MP-15 being a Japanese Toys"R"Us exclusive that was bought out by those who sell it on the secondary market, jacking up the prices to the stores here, which has us pay 3 times as much, when compared to its initial retail price in Japan.

The part that's in bold was what I was referring to. How he was back in his G1 body post-G-2 with no explanation.

Though, Unicron didn't make Galvatron I (not II) insane. That was due to his lava bath on Thrull messing with his head, as he was still sane in the 1986 movie (however, Galvatron II's insanity was indeed a side-effect of Unicron's reformatting).

And Dark Nova didn't merge with Super Megatron into Ultra Megatron. He upgraded Super into Ultra, and then merged with Ultra to become Hoshi no Kyojin, the Star Giant.
