Well, from an artistic and anatomical standpoint, I would say he is pretty well proportioned, including the arms and legs. The probability is very high that they have taken the strength of the joints into account for the arm cannon, and, ratcheted joints should be able to support it. And, given that the cannon/scope will likely be made of plastic, I am pretty certain it will be light enough for the arm to support it. As Piranacon pointed out, you will never get a completely cartoon accurate model and still have it transform. Larger arms, and thicker legs would ruin the gun mode.

As for why I prefer the appearance of the alt mode to be spot on, that is simple. The alt mode is the robot’s disguise. If it isn’t convincing, it isn’t a very good disguise now, is it? This model does a very good job of making a convincing Megatron without sacrificing the alt mode. He is well proportioned, fully articulated, nicely detailed, and much closer to the cartoon version than he is to the original toy version. Is he spot on? No, but that is impossible to accomplish and still have him transform, and for the reasons Piranacon mentioned. There really isn’t much else they can improve on him.

This is just getting stupid. I don't like it, you do. Lets end it there.

How is it getting stupid? Is it because you can’t find fault in my logic? I am looking at it from a purely mechanical standpoint for both modes. I’m looking at the function of his design and his alt mode. You are thinking purely emotionally, looking at wanting something that is a dead ringer for the cartoon Megatron in robot mode with no regard to the alt mode. At least Tentagil is trying to think logically about the possible physical limitations of the design.

my lord man, it has nothing to do with not being able to find fault in your logic, because your "logic" is based on your opinion of how it should look, which is clearly different than mine. I'm ok with the alt mode looking not quite right, like mp prime, if the bot mode looks perfect, LIKE MP PRIME. Thats why i think this stupid, because we're arguing over preference, not what is or isn't possible. Get over yourself, this isn't an arguement you can possibily be right about, and like wise, i can't be right either. Can we end it now, or does your ego dictate you need to get the last word in?

whether or not they thicken the legs or reduce the cannon is irrelevant because in Alt mode he's going to be close to the size of a Desert Eagle anyway so it being "convincing" isn't important. Also if you watch the original cartoon he's always held by the other TF's that are lile 30 feet tall so he'd be huge anyway.

Like Gawd said lets wait till we get some official photos before we gripe and **** anymore

Damn, I love this Megatron. He's the closest thing I think we'll ever get to G1 cartoon Megatron, and I'm very satisfied. I think I'll pre-order this bad-boy. For $100, that'll be a steal considering I payed the same amount for an in box G1 Megatron at Botcon 97.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm almost certainly going to get him, I jsut think some things on him could be done better. And though I am a kitbasher, I haven't the skill or the confidence to go mucking with any figure with a price tag over 40 bucks.

From what other over at TFormers have said, it is something entirely unrelated to Transformers. I’m not sure what series those models are from, but it isn’t Transformers.

A guy named Refund over at the TFW2005 boards posted pics of MP Megatron including gun mode and accessories. Seibertron.com had a report on it. Here is the link to the thread: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthread.php?t=116239

got to admit, i love that they're including the weapons that did Prime in, sans the chunk of autobot city that started the fatal wound. This new picture brings up a whole new thing i dont like about this mold though: the "p-38" and "bc-42" carved into his chest. I know its just there to make the alt mode more accurate... but come on.

Personally, it is little details like that, that I love simply because it adds to the authenticityand accuracy of the mode. It shows that the artist is paying attention to the details. it is the sign of a good craftsman.

I might be ok with those on his chest, as long as he has a nice looking Decepticon logo dead center on his chest.

Those weapons that are included are great and I love that they thought to include Kremzeek

I still don't like the skinny legs though, they look out of proportion to the rest of him, like they wouldn't support him. I realize why they made them skinny, but its not very realistic in robot mode IMO

Is that scope end from the original toy to save time on the prototype or are they going to add more stuff to him in the future? The reason I ask is that it still has the Microman handles that fold out.

No, that scope end isn’t from the original G1 toy, It couldn’t be, it is too big. The original was much smaller. As for the “Microman Handles” I don’t think that is what they are. they are either clips for attachments, or switches to change the magnification settings, both of which would likey be found on a real scope.
