MP13 Soundwave costing $200

I got my Takara 20th Optimus Prime for $99. I didn't buy MP-Grimlock because of it's high price. MP13 however comes with an even more hefty pricetag. $200 !!

Furthermore I read somewhere Soundwave will be all plastic and has stickers for details. Is this confirmed?

All I can say is GREEDY BASTARDS!

If it were $125-150 I would consider (because I didn't get Grimlock) but $200!?

What's your opinion?

MP Soundwave started at $150 on TF Source, $160 on BBTS (I think... maybe it was $150), but has gone up since then.

Can't tell you if it's because of the manufacturer or the popularity however.

Maybe a bit of both? Strike while the metal is hot? Or is it because of the 3rd party vendors who are ratcheting up the price? 8-}

Got in on the Early Bird order @ HLJ and he'll be under $150AU for me. Plus probably another $20AU shipping.

Possibly :-? . Big Business is the first reason that comes to mind. I suspect the vendors and manufacturers would have agreed on X amount of figures to be shipped and invoices processed accordingly. As the release date approaches, the vendors will try and gouge the public for as much as possible, as they know that they only have X amount on order... hence the steady rise in prices over the past few months. Best thing to do is visit Seibertron regularly, keep up to date on what is being released and when you see it at a retailer, commit early and save.

That's one more reason to wait for a Hasbro release. [-(

Yeah, I'm also hoping Hasbro will release him, I don't care if it's a TRU exclusive. My TRU is awesome. In the meantime, I'll save about $50 and get Trailerforce.

Is there any info out on whether that's been confirmed and when that may take place? I'm debating pre-ordering him in fear there won't be a Hasbro release :(

Robotkingdom has him for $160 + shipping.

RK is pretty good if you buy more items. It helps spread their shipping cost across more items.

Also, if you pay using Bill Me Later from Paypal, they offer 6 months 0% financing on purchases over $99. Makes it nice to buy stuff without running up the credit card.

There is no confirmation yet (which is not unusual) but Hasbro has released every MP mold except for Megatron. It's kinda iffy on Sideswipe/Red Alert due to licensing issues but Soundwave has no such issues. We may not hear about it until BotCon though.

Hasbro has reissued g1 Sideswipe ,and Redalert earlier last decade. I don't think it will be a problem.

I preordered mine for 169.95 at TFsource a few months back. I was told the initial reason for the price increase from the original $149 was because of Laserbeak being added, where beforehand, the sellers apparently thought the then-uncolored bird casette prototype was being sold in a 2-pack with Rumble. And they were right. And wrong.

It's still a brazen cash grab, but at the time I was cool with paying $20 extra for Laserbeak. I probably wouldn't pay much more than that for any Masterpiece figure, and certainly not the $199.95 they're charging now.

paying two hundred for a much smaller mp import is getting absurd. especially a few years ago a much bigger one went for a hundred. ok i'm not going to cry much over it ,and neither should you. there's always the hasbro version coming out later. scalpers stop buying them all. :-x back off!

I wouldn't hold my breath for a cheap Hasbro release. They've released every one (bar Megs) so far, true - but always with an eye on the kiddy market. And they've been very vocal on the problem of Soundwave's alt-mode not inspiring the young 'uns.

And I'm 100% with them on this. Soundwave turns into a box. I just can't see any actual "fun" being had with it.

MP's have always been for older fans first and foremost. If Has wants them to be attractive to kids then they are dumber than I already thought :P Also don't care if they never release him.

As for the fun, those of us who grew up with G1 don't have a problem with him turning into a box because we are getting one of the best characters/toys from the 80's and he looks exactly like we want him to look! Besides, the tape player thing is a nice bit of nostalgia for me ;)

Atari 2600's, Big Mac's that were actually big, watching TF the movie at Hoyts. Those really were the days. Kids these days, pfft, forget it, if they haven't got a screen in front of them they can't even construct a proper sentence, let alone look you square in the eye. Soft.

*waves hand* Soundwave will have a Hasbro release. This is the masterpiece you're all looking for.
