**As a New Year promotion, my book is absolutely free of cost until January 6th**

As of last night, my first completed book went up for sale on Amazon's digital service.

I'd be honored if you all would check it out. I believe that Amazon Prime members can download it for free. Even if you can't download it, liking the Amazon page would be helpful.

Thanks to those who have helped me along the way and I hope this lives up to any expectations you might have had.

I'd be happy to answer any questions about the process either for writing or getting it all organized.

Without any adieu:

Legacy of Shadow: Master of the House

"Julian Hitchings is offered the opportunity to take control of one of Seaside's notorious criminal gangs with all the wealth, prestige, and danger the position offers. Aided by his oldest friend, two dangerous and desperate refugees from the north, and a cunning but unbalanced councilor, they are successful beyond all imagination.

Their success brings about the revelation that all is not well in Seaside. A sinister evil is growing in the heart of their city, and their actions may have been enabling it all along. Ancient debts are coming due, and Julian alongside his comrades must break through the veil of deceit before they are manipulated down a path from which there is no escape. Failure will leave them as unwitting pawns in a game where the stakes are their very souls. With enemies on all sides, Julian resolves to take whatever measures are necessary to protect his friends and to prove to the rest of the criminal underworld that he is indeed the Master of the House."

"House of Cards" the second book in the Legacy of Shadow series is scheduled for a Summer 2013 release.

Congrats, dude! That's great! :D I'll definitely be checking it out. And you owe me an autograph, if it hits print. :P Also, is your wife the editor?

She did do the editing. She's a publication reviewer in her field so I felt really comfortable having her do the proofing.

Her PhD adviser was a great mentor for that sort of thing.

I plan to evaluate the cost of paper copies in January. I'm a bit apprehensive about it because the cost could be considerable and I wouldn't want to have to charge like $25 + shipping on account of it being a small print run. We'll see.

Edit: I should add that the reason for going digital was to show that sales were indeed possible and to possibly grab the attention of a publishing house. So, any likes, purchases or recommendations really do help.

Congrats on publishing your first book!

Sadly, it's not available for download or purchase in my region.

I'm also working on a novel of my own, but I'll probably have to go through more "traditional" channels to get it published (submission to agents, and any of the few existing publishers that still accept unsolicited manuscripts.)

The only e-publisher I know of is lulu.com.

Out of curiosity, how did you go about selling your book on amazon?

I tested out the waters for traditional publishing. I think I know how to go about it now but the time sink of doing so is pretty big. I'll get back to it after I have this out for a while and see how it does.

Amazon is really easy to publish to. Their procedure is simple and really quite effective. There is a free guide book you can download that shows you how.

Yeah, it usually takes 6-8 months before they even give an answer. And even if the answer is a "yes," it will be a further 12 months before the book makes it on the shelves.

Thanks. I'll download the guide book, and see if I could give Amazon a try once I've finalized my manuscript.

BTW, I visited your blog. The world you created seems like a very complex one with a lot of different characters, and I'm not sure which story I should begin reading.

Congratulations on the book!

Also, why does the cover not say 'Counterpunch'?

Nope, you can get it on your computer and use their cloud reader.

Thanks, @JBstuka on Twitter did that after hearing me mention it on the podcast a few months back.

Congrats on getting the book published. Since I don't have a computer to download things onto, I will have to wait and hope for a published copy.

I got to read the first part of the book and am very interested to see how it all works out!

I'm holding a free promo this weekend for my book: Legacy of Shadow: Master of the House

As promised in the original post, the sequel is also available (but not on promo right now).

Legacy of Shadow: House of Cards

I hope you all enjoy. The reviews and feedback have been good so far and more books are in the works. If these do well enough, hard copy publishing the next one is my plan. >:oP
