Nebulos is a beautiful, lush garden world hundreds of light-years away from Earth. Inhabitated by pacifistic, greenskinned but otherwise remarkably human like species called the Nebulans - Nebulos has enjoyed time of peace that has lasted for almost 2000 years. While their technology and culture are more advanced than humans' and they are in possession of spacecraft able to travel safely within their own solar system. Nebulans lack the technology required for interstellar travel and thus have not made a contact with the galactic community - which in turn have made them an ideal target for Megatron's Decepticon Empire.

How long they had been stationed on Nebulos now? 1 meta-cycle and few deca-cycles on top of it, a quartex at most. One could easily lose count. It wasn't really all that long, given how a virtually-immortal species could bide their time. But certainly more than enough for any Decepticons who might be present to start doing more than just observing. Nevertheless, several Decepticon sightings by his agents patrolling around the planet was driving the local Autobot infiltration unit commander Skyhammer restless. Observing was all that they seemed to be doing.

"What the slag are you up to Black Shadow?" He wondered aloud as he stared at the datacenter providing him surveillance feed from all around Nebulos.

"Relax Skyhammer, given how we kicked his aft on Tot-2 he is probably just trying to make Megatron to forget his failure," Comcast, Skyhammer's communications officer said while following several data feeds of his own, his arms crossed behind his head and right leg resting on top of the left.

"No. That's not the Decepticon nature Comcast, as you should know by now. Megatron does not forget. Black Shadow should be making a name for himself after disappointing Megatron like he did. Don't let the quiet dull your sensors."

"No, of course not boss," he said, letting out a sigh and taking more attentive sitting position. "Hey... what's this? Boss, we have captured an open Decepticon communication signal, it is like they want to reach us? No encryption. Nothing."

"Patch it through," Skyhammer commanded, the look on his face growing more serious than it already was.

"Incoming," Comcast said, patching the Decepticon feeler signal through.

As the result, Black Shadow's smug visage appeared on the main screen.

"Black Shadow," Skyhammer spat out. "To what, exactly, do we owe this honor?"

"Oh, nothing much Skyhammer," Black Shadow said, the smug grin never leaving his face. "Just that I have a message for you. I felt I owed you that much."

"Please, stop toying with me. Whatever you are planning, I am going to stop you as many times it takes." Skyhammer told his adversary, his gaze stern as ever.

Black Shadow's expression did not even flinch at Skyhammer's attempt of provoking him, instead his grin turned even more confident. "Two words Skyhammer - Phase five."

As soon as Black Shadow finished, the signal was cut out, leaving Skyhammer and Comcast to stare at each other in disbelief.

"Did he just say phase 5?" Comcast asked, clearly shaken.

"I believe he did. Check the surveillance grid, any changes?" Skyhammer said, leaning down towards the datacenter.

"Nothing... wait! We have the location of the Decepticon command bunker! It is transforming into siege mode! This is fraggin' happening!"

"Make a call! I want all Autobots ready for - what in the name of Primus?!" Skyhammer began barking orders just to be interrupted by a base wide alert of an opening transwarp rift on the orbit.

"Sir! We have a transwarp rift! Sensors are picking five Decepticon signals! A nemesis-class battleship, two destroyers and two frigates!" Comcast shouted, now panicking. "What're we going to do?!"

"A nemesis-class vessel? There's just...three and I doubt it's Megatron. Can you get identification?" Skyhammer stammered in disbelief, obviously greatly disturbed as well, though trying his best not to show it.

"W-wait, g-give me a moment." Comcast stuttered, zooming towards the approaching Decepticon warships. "Oh frag, oh frag... It's Semper Tyrannis! That's Scorponok's flagship! We're screwed! We are so screwed!"

The presence of a vessel of that magnitude changed their current circumstances dramatically.

"Don't lose your cool now soldier! Call in for reinforcements!" Skyhammer commanded, slapping Comcast across his face.

"Y-yes sir!" Comcast acknowledged and tried to open an emergency channel in order to contact Prime or one of the other big-time Autobot generals out there. "We're being jammed! One of those destroyers is an interdictor! We can't get a signal jump out of the system! we're...stuck. And they are opening fire with siege drivers! The Arvassian mountain range is gone! They knew! They knew where the Nebulans had stored their weapons!"

"For crying out loud..." Skyhammer muttered, slamming his fist against the console before him, only to notice a solar system wide Decepticon transmission being sent from the Semper Tyrannis.

On the screen before him appeared a massively built black and gold Decepticon with enormous claws instead of hands. >>"I am High Commander Scorponok of the second expansion fleet of the mighty Decepticon Empire. I claim this world Decepticon domain in the name of mighty Megatron. You are defenseless. Surrender now or face devastation."<<

Skyhammer stared intently, even defiantly, at the screen, even though he knew that the mech on the other end could not see him. He knew that the courage of Comcast and the others would rely largely upon his own handling of this sudden crisis. Despite his own doubts, uncertainty had no place on this battlefield.

"Surrender? No, Scorponok. Not an option," Skyhammer said, before looking to Comcast. "Get the word to the others however you can. We have a welcoming party to set up for our new 'guest'."

Koraja--The Capital Dome

The capital city was alive, as it was typically always found to be, with the activities of its many citizens. But there was an undercurrent present that had not been there the day prior to this one. It was an undercurrent of tension, and of fear. The light of the sun still shone down across the cityscape, warming its thoroughfares and passways and enlivening its citizenry. Their world, however, was colder now. And everyone knew why. For Peer Sorgen, member of the ruling body of Nebulos, it should have been simply another magnificent day. But today was not to play out in the same manner as had the many before it. Today, they had made contact with a species outside their own, and it was not something that they had even really set out to do.

"Peer Sorgen," a younger aide by the name of Torma said in quiet greeting, clasping both hands in front of him for a moment. Sorgen did the same and smiled as they walked further in to the capital structure.

"You have words to share?" Sorgen asked.

"I do. The Council is to be convened sooner than I had prepared you to participate."

"Come now, Torma. You do not think I would have prepared myself on a day such as this?" Sorgen said, a nervous chuckle belying his otherwise pleasant demeanor. "There is great fear, but also great potential."

"I should not have presumed, esteemed Peer," Torma said, lowering his head in obvious shame.

"Worry not. Much more serious matters await us, all of us, now."

Torma nodded. As he and the Peer approached the great hall which would lead them in to the chambers, he stopped at one hundred paces--just as all aides were instructed--and allowed Sorgen to continue on without him. As Sorgen himself entered the chamber, he could see that numerous other Peers were already present.

"The final Peer has arrived. We should begin in haste," Galen, another member of the Council, spoke urgently.

"So it begins," Peer Soriza said as she quietly watched the other members of the Council of Peers take their respective places.

She, like the others, had been summoned to this emergency session. And, unlike past times where such meetings had been called, this was an actual, planetary emergency. Soriza could not remember the last time that had been true.

Obviously having no desire to wait any further, Peer Galen, the head of the World Watchers, stepped forward and brought up a large screen, rebroadcasting the message that the planet itself had seen not long ago. Even now, Soriza could not believe what she was seeing with her own eyes. These creatures...she had never seen anything so...unliving.

And yet...

>>"I am /// Commander Scorponok of the second expansion /////// mighty Decepticon Empire. I claim this world as Decepticon domain // name of mighty Megatron. You are defenseless. Surrender now or face devastation."<<

Though the message had static interruptions, its meaning was clear. Even as it was rebroadcast here for the Council of Peers, there could be no denying the warlike intent of these things. War had not been seen upon the face of Nebulos in many an age. They were woefully unprepared for anything like this, in Soriza's view.

"Peers...friends...this Scorponok has issued a demand. What will be our response?" Peer Galen asked, addressing the Council.

"Have you not seen!?" a garishly-robed member of the Council of Peers stood up, the high-volume of his voice immediately drawing the attention of many others. "What hope have we of defeating this 'Scorponok' and any of these other rock-skinned creatures that he has brought with him, hm?! The Arvassian Mountain range? Gone! In one swoop of their fiery hand! We are fools to offer anything other than the surrender which they have demanded of us!"

'What hope' indeed, Soriza thought. Still, others did not appear to be as convinced of that path as was Peer Morticai, who hailed from the Splendora region. She was unsurprised. Surrender--ideally--would help to preserve the planet.

"Is our peace not worth fighting for? Have the World Watchers known nothing of this!?! Speak, Peer Galen!" another Peer shouted, his black and gray hair almost completely enshrouding his green face.

There was another chorus of cheers and agreements within the room. Soriza, for her part, did not add her voice to the chorus. She merely watched, and took all of this in.

"The World Watchers have known nothing of this!" Galen said, his own voice growing louder now. His young, green-skinned face darkening somewhat with anger. "Do you think we would be meeting here, now, in this way if we had!? I have lead the World Watchers for one reason, to preserve what we have built. We can not surrender!"

Another chorus of cheers, though it was decidedly not unanimous, went up from the council chamber.

"CONTACT WITH THE VESSEL--RE-ESTABLISHED," a loud, Nebulan voice from the capital dome's communications' center announced, so that all could hear. Soriza watched as Galen took in the response. She knew he would not accept this Scorponok's terms. What would he attempt to offer instead?

"High Commander Scorponok, I am Peer Galen, member of the Council of Peers, head of the World Watchers and resident of Nebulos. I--all of us, in fact--would speak with this 'Megatron', in whose name you seek to claim our world. Surely there are more alternatives than what you have given us to consider."

Autobot command bunker - The Folassian Forest

“They’re panicking.” Spartan said as he strode into his war room, where the rest of his team was clustered around the viewer, watching the unfolding drama of Scorponok’s proclamation and the Nebulan reaction.

“HA! Yeah boss, the greenies ain’t seen aliens before. They’re losin’ their minds right now,” Artemis replied. The big, spike-studded, black warrior was sprawled out on the couch in front of the screen. Despite the prospect of upcoming battle, he seemed relaxed. In fact, the Decepticons sudden appearance had cheered him immensely. As always, he had been bored in the early stages of infiltration. The fact that all the skulking around was done had made his day. Unfortunately he hadn’t considered the odds, but then again, he never did.

“That’s not what I mean. The Nebulans are of little importance. I’m talking about Skyhammer and the others.”

“I thought Skyhammer handled himself well,” Athena interjected from her perch on the console beside the screens. The lithe white femme was always reasonable, and always looked for the best in everyone. In this case, she did have something of a point - Skyhammer had put on a good show for the most part, though the shock of the Decepticons arrival had certainly shaken him.

Spartan waved her comment off as inconsequential. “He’s out of his depth. He’s a fair match for the likes of Black Shadow, but Scorponok is beyond him in skill and power.”

“And what does that mean for us?” Aphros demanded nervously as she paced back and forth behind the couch. The sultry purple femmebot had her features screwed up into a pout. Where Artemis reveled in the thought of open combat, she hated it. Her primary function, even in the latter stages of a conflict, was infiltration. Open warfare, and she knew that’s what was coming, was someplace she just didn’t belong.

“It means Vulcan whips us up some big guns and we blow ol’ Scorpy out of the sky,” Artemis interjected. Vulcan, the final member of the group, looked up when he heard his name called. Despite everything that had been going on, the grey-green engineer had been working the whole time – watching the screen with one optic while doodling on his PADD with the other.

“I think that’s pretty much out of the question. Designing something that could shoot a Nemesis class battle ship out of orbit is, of course, possible, but construction on that scale would be noted, and we’d be blasted from space before we ever got the super-structure in place, let alone…”

“Enough,” Spartan interrupted. Unchecked Vulcan would have rambled on about construction problems for a cycle. “What it means is we gather up our supplies, and we fall back to underground position alpha. This location is too exposed, and we are uncertain of Decepticon intelligence assets. Since no one outside this room knows about our secondary base, we can be sure the Decepticons don’t either.”

“So we’re just going to abandon the others?” Athena demanded.

“We’re going to settle in to fight a guerilla campaign,” Spartan replied crisply. “When we’re secure, we’ll bring them in if necessary. Now move. We roll out in two breems.”

Space--Bridge of the Semper Tyrannis

“These creatures are not prepared,” Cyclonus said quietly, staring at a personal view screen at his station on the massive cruiser. Already, the Decepticons had made their presence forcefully known, and what was the response?

Silence.

Others within their ranks may have found it eerie. For Cyclonus, it was simply an indication of this society’s inherent weakness. A stronger civilization would have responded in kind to the announcement that had been broadcast. Responded with force. If these…Nebulans…thought that by offering no response, the Decepticons would proceed with more mercy, they were sorely mistaken. The fact that this civilization was either unwilling or unable to mount any form of credible resistance merely took the sport out of it; however, Cyclonus was not here for sport or for the thrill of the hunt--as other Decepticons inevitably would be. If the infiltration protocols enacted on this planet proved to benefit the Decepticon empire as a whole, and Megatron specifically, then that was Cyclonus’ only true concern.

“Prepared for what?” another Decepticon asked. Cyclonus did not even turn to see who it was. Instead, he idly flipped through the various readouts that the Tyrannis was gathering from the planet’s surface. He saw nothing encouraging. He looked forward to being able to set foot on the planet for himself, at some point. Surely a world that had at least developed this far would have access to certian resources that even the inhabitants themselves might be wholly unaware of.

“Their defeat, at best. Their utter annihilation, at worst....however; there is likely something of value to be learned here. Or taken, inevitably. I hope that we will have the chance to do so before all that we see before us on these screens are little more than fire and ruin.”

"Cheerful as ever, Cyclonus," the other mech said.

"Practical," Cyclonus responded coldly, before returning his attention solely to the screen in front of him. It was then that he noticed a return transmission being sent from this world. Cyclonus patched it through without hesitation, so that all could hear. As the green-skinned rabble appeared on the screen and began to speak, Cyclonus found himself to be quietly impressed that they had even managed this degree of technological advancement. Still, he said nothing more for the moment, as the organic's words had been addressed to their High Commander.

The orbit - Bridge of the Semper Tyrannis

Scorponok stood at the helm of the observing point on the bridge of the mighty Semper Tyrannis, looking down at the planet below through a number of large durabellium windows before him. His massive form cast a menacing shadow over the bridge behind him. He had learned to use his gargantuan frame to intimidate both friends and foes alike so long ago that it had become part of his nature. It didn't matter whether he stood at the helm of the bridge or sat on his massive command throne, he still towered over the rest of the Decepticons under his command and sent shivers to their very sparks.

The planet before him was called Nebulos by the weak, green skinned organic bipeds that had evolved to become the dominant species of the planet. Scorponok cared little for their fate. But he had to admit that the green and blue planet with its majestic rings had certain aesthetics pleasing for one's optical sensors. While it paled in comparison to the splendor of Cybertron during its golden age but Scorponok could appreciate beauty where he saw it. Of course, his soldiers knew nothing of this hidden part of his nature. It would be considered a weakness and a High Commander of Decepticons could not afford to show any weaknesses.

It had required months of careful planning, hidden troop movements and several distraction operations to create an attack fleet of just 5 ships under the watchful optic sensors of his arch nemesis, legendary Autobot general Fortress Maximus. But Scorponok had done it. Black Shadow's report regarding a naturally rich and utterly defenseless world had almost been too good to be true. But now it was all ripe for taking. All he needed to do was reach for it and close his unbreakable grip around it.

The inhabitants of the planet however, did not seem to understand their place.

Therefore, his reply to these feeble organics was not exactly understanding.

>>"How dare you even ask for an audience with the glorious Emperor of The Decepticon Empire? No, insects as you should be in awe to even to even parley with his ambassador. You have two hours to surrender. Fail to meet our demands and you shall witness your world burn. Do not waste more of my time."<<

With an annoyed scowl on his face, Scorponok turned just enough from his position to be able to see his second-in-command, Cyclonus. "Prepare our troops for invasion. I doubt these pathetic meatbags will accept our terms."

Koraja--The Capital Dome

The Dome was crowded, more than Duros would like. All the Peers were there with no exception. The Security Officer generally didn't cared much about their meetings, most of the time, they talked about dull things.

But today, today was different. They had made contact with Aliens, and they were threatening thier planet. When Scorponok's message arrived, Duros counldn't help but to laugh. "Surrender? What are this things thinking? Even if I'm the only one, I'll protect this planet until my last breath."

But his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the chorus. Everybody was yelling, and nobody could agree with nobody. He heard as Peer Galen, the Nebulan he had in the highes regard, sent a message to Scorponok. As the message came back, it was clear that a conflict was inminent.

Even though he didn't wanted to admit it, deep inside, or maybe not as deep as he would like, Duros felt excited. He was born a warrior, and in a world where the only thing they knew was peace, he felt bored most of the time.

As the crowd whispered about Scorponok's message, he approached Peer Galen. "Sir, do you want me to preapre the defenses?"

Nebulos Orbit – Training Facility of the Semper Tyrannis

Snaptrap stood silently in the control room that overlooked the massive training facility below where his Seacons were currently engaged in a variety of training exercises. His team was one of the best in the entire Decepticon Empire and was feared by many mechs on both sides of the war. They carried out their missions with brutal precision and rarely sought glory for their accomplishments. The Seacons did the dirty work of the empire, usually behind the scenes. Most ‘cons would be unprepared or afraid to carry out the types of missions the Seacons were tasked to do. Even the Combaticons and the Predacons, two of the empire’s most skillful and unflinching military units, lacked something that the Seacons possessed. And that was the ability to not only fight the enemy on land, but to fight them in a watery environment, as well.

As some of his Seacons sparred with each other while others ripped training drones to pieces, Snaptrap simply watched from above, showing no emotion whatsoever. If he was pleased with how his team was performing their exercises, he didn’t show it, not by his facial expression nor by his body language. The “Butcher of the Bogs” just stood with his arms crossed over his chest plate and observed his team as they polished their skills for the upcoming invasion. As for Snaptrap, himself, he needed no training. He considered himself to be an unstoppable killing machine and thus did not require preparation of any kind. His skills were as good as they were going to get.

A door to the control room slid open and a silver-colored Decepticon entered, approaching the Seacon Commander from behind. The mech stood beside Snaptrap and began to speak. “Sir, you wanted me to let you know when we had arrived at Nebulos. Well, we’re in orbit around the planet now, commander.” Snaptrap did not immediately respond or even look in the silver mech’s direction. He simply maintained his focus on his team down in the training room.

“Sir? Did you hear me?”

Finally, the Seacon Leader turned his head and looked down at the smaller mech standing next to him, allowing his expressionless optics to lock onto the other’s clearly frightened faceplate. “Of course I heard you, idiot! I’m not deaf!” Snaptrap replied with a deep and uncompromising voice. “Has High Commander Scorponok requested my presence on the bridge?”

“No sir, he hasn’t yet. Would you like me to…”

“I would like you to leave,” Snaptrap interrupted the other mech. "Now!" Without further delay, the silver Decepticon left the room, the door sliding shut behind him. Snaptrap then returned his gaze to the window in front of him and the training facility beyond it. He pressed a button on the control panel and spoke into the speaker system. “Attention Seacons! We have arrived at the planet called Nebulos. Finish up with your exercises and get ready for the imminent invasion.”

Koraja - The Capital Dome

As the council of peers were busy arguing their next course of action, terrified screams of civilians and guardsmen alike began echoing from the main entrance leading into the council chambers. Not much later an announcement was played through the capital dome's internal speakers. >>"Everyone scatter! Take cover! They are here! The metal men are here! And they are heading towards the council chambers!"<<

Before anyone inside the council chamber really had time to do much else than wet their pants, the large ornamental doors leading into the chamber were slammed open, allowing a trio of large mechanoids to walk in.

"Good people of Nebulos! My name is Skyhammer and I come in peace!" The largest of the three let his voice rise over the terrified screams. "Your world is in grave danger! I urge you to listen to me carefully!"

Without waiting to hear an answer from the council of peers, Skyhammer marched into the center of the chamber and let his gaze circle the auditorium. "Me and my Autobot companions here come from war torn planet far away from here called Cybertron. The ones seeking to claim dominance over your planet are Decepticons, our sworn enemies. They started a civil war that left our homeworld dead and our species forced to wander the stars trying to stop their leader Megatron's plans of galactic conquest. We were positioned on your planet to keep and eye on their local infiltration cell, however we failed to understand they were planning an invasion."

Skyhammer shook his head in remorse before continuing. "I know what I will propose is going to go against all that you stand for but the alternative is far worse! You must stay strong! You must find the strength inside yourselves to protect your world! Rise your arms against the Decepticons! Unite your world and with our help you have at least a fighting chance! Surrender and they enslave your whole planet! Scorponok knows no mercy, you are just cattle to him to be used to build more weapons of war and feed their conquest of other worlds like yours! Do not let them spread their evil without resistance!"

Galen watched, and listened, as best he could to outcry from the numerous other peers in the room. Though there was agreement among some that they should simply surrender as the man of metal, Scorponok, had asked, there was a stronger and louder opposition to that idea. Galen was encouraged by that, even if he himself was unsure if their world was capable of resisting.

Through the crowd, he noticed the approach of Duros. As the head of capital security and a senior member of the World Watchers, Galen trusted this individual perhaps more than any other. If age or death in battle--something that was becoming increasingly more likely--were to claim him, it was Duros to whom Galen would want to entrust leadership of the World Watchers. He only hoped that if the time came, the Council would agree.

"Yes, Duros. It has been many an age, but the vaults must be opened again. Disperse all that is contained within. Our path is not clear yet, but we must be ready. I'm not sure that we will have the luxury of choice for much longer. These metal men may leave us no options."

Before Galen could say much more, the massive doors to the council chamber were spread open wide. Galen's mouth tightened, as did his entire body. They were much...larger....than he had expected.

So, this was it?
___

Soriza and a number of other peers gasped audibly when the proceedings of their council were interrupted direclty by one of these...things.

If this one was to believed, he was not with the others, the one who had made contact--Scorponok. She was not convinced, however, that they did not share the same agenda. Had it not been a strategy during the Battle of the Five Lakes for one to speak well and quietly while another carried the sword? That had been so long ago, but Soriza was a student of history. She did not want to see her world fall under the same tactical flaws that had claimed the lives of so many, ages ago.

The creature spoke with conviction, Soriza could not deny that. His impassioned words seemed to strike a chord with many, if their reactions were to be gauged accurately. She could remain silent no longer.

"You would have us resist? To what end? We have not seen war in ages! Our weapons our locked away in a vault! Many do not even carry them," she said, before pausing, reaching within the folds of her own robe and pulling out a slender, silver glove with several electrodes running along either side of it. Those who were in Soriza's immediate vicinity backed away nervously. "Though some of us do."

She stepped forward, even more brazen now.

"What is this..." Soriza said, sliding the glove on to her left hand and up her arm before pointing directly at Skyhammer. "...compared to that which you surely have at your disposal?"

Autobot command bunker - The Folassian Forest

Reclining the corner, his arms crossed over his massive chest, his legs propped up on an equipment bench, his chin lowered in a position that could only be described as the closest thing a Cybertonian could take to a nap was the massive, and venerable Roadbuster. The large green Autobot warrior had spent much of his time on Nebulous trying to figure out who he had ticked off to get himself transferred from the Wreckers to an infiltration team. Though he had pretty much concluded it had been some data pushers screw up as even Springer and Kup had been completely stumped by that move. Regardless he was here, he was bored, and was broody, the normally vocal solider had spent much of his time here solitary and quiet, and also in long periods of power down mode. However, things were changing, and the old solider was perking up.

He was roused from his current stint of power down by the commotion on the other side of the room as the rest of the team was crowded around the monitor, and what was that? Scorponok was on the screen? Something was up and with a grown, that could have been mistaken for a yawn, Roadbuster stretched out his his arms and legs, his gears and servos stiff from another long bout of little movement slowly started moving again. He lurched to his feet and walked over to the team hearing them talk, and from what he heard it sounded like they were scrambling to come up with a plan on how to deal with the situation.

The large solider towered over the group as he took in the information on the screen. Looks like this gig had just gotten interesting, this planet had just gone from the early stages of an infiltration mission to a full blown invasion by a not so small army of Decepticons. It was rare to see either side of the war engage in such numbers these days, and the haze of post-power down activation evaporated and Roadbuster could feel his energon start to heat up at as his processor began to tick over with all of the various tactical and strategic concerns of what was to come.

"So Spartan, seems the 'Cons have finally decided to stop hiding and come on out into the light." Roadbuster said as he placed his fists on his hips. "Seems like we have some major plannin' to do, this will be tough. The 'Cons can always be a handful, and in these numbers their gonna be like wrestling a Sharkticon pumped up on to much energon for its own good. Want me to start drawing up an analysis for possible landing zones and primary and secondary objectives they are likely to hit in the opening stages of their invasion? I doubt Scorponok is going to stick to the deadlines he has laid out and I wouldn't be surprised if the first wave of their invasion is already in route."

Roadbuster turned and began making his way to the equipment and weapons lockers.

"In the mean time we better get moving mechs and fems! You heard the boss, we have to strip this place of all we can carry, load it up and get moving. Anything we can't take we destroy, we don't want the 'Cons gettin' their hands, claws, or whatever on anything useful we leave behind."

Rad was not sure that he had ever, in his considerable number of vorns, encountered a planet as tranquil as Nebulos. Though a very capable combatant here, at long last, was a world where he had been able to quietly attend to his research. Research that would ultimately benefit the Autobot cause. And, hopefully, Cybertron as a whole one day. He was anxious to be able to make contact with the likes of Perceptor, Brainstorm and Quickmix and other similarly-minded Autobots who would be able to appreciate what he had done here and perhaps point new directions to take it. Or, as was inevitably the case when one was a scientist, find its flaws and send him back to the proverbial drawing board.

Like a sudden crash, however, his research was now no longer a priority. The natives of Nebulos had been blissfully unaware of their presence for a long time, and they had formed something of a beautiful coexistence that way. Were they, as creatures, not given the ability to transform their appearance for that very purpose. Now they were all too aware.

Thanks to the Decepticons.

How much strife and chaos in the universe could be laid directly at the feet of the rebellion that Megatron had lead against the planet so many vorns ago? Whatever his original intentions, they had been corrupted so drastically that Rad wondered whether or not Megatron and his inner circle even remembered what they had originally railed against. But even that did not matter. What mattered was the fact that the Decepticons were here. Rad was determined to have their effect on the Nebulans be as minimal as possible. Given their resources, he didn’t know how likely that was, but he could hope.

In what seemed like little more than a few breems, Rad had left the relative comforts of their setup within the Folassian Forest with Skyhammer and headed to the capital city of Koraja in an attempt to--somewhow--prepare the Nebulans for the unrighteous fury that was going to rain down on their planet if they did not give in to Scorponok's demands. He had attempted to leave Lionizer behind at the command bunker, but his surly companion was having none of it.

And now here they were. Skyhammer's entrance had been a little more brash than Rad's would have been, but what did it really matter now, anyway? This cyberfox was out of its cage. Good luck getting it back in.

"Ahem, if could just..." Rad attempted to interject, but the natives weren't going for it right now.

Their collective volume could have given Blaster a run for his energon cubes.

"I'd just like to..."

No dice. Truthfully, Rad wasn't even sure if this planet was in any position to resist. Skyhammer's intentions were noble, to be sure, and Rad had certainly never backed away from a fight. But he also usually liked to have a pretty good chance at winning. If the Decpeticons had sent Scorponok here....

"Excuse me!" Rad pumped out, notably louder this time. The room went quiet for a few astroseconds. That's likely the only opportunity he'd have.

"The female raises a valid concern, one which is, I'm sure, shared by a number of you. I must caution you. You must take up arms only if you have no fear of the price, for it will be high. Very high. But....we felt it was our duty now, to warn you. We had no knowledge that your world would ever have been something of interest to the Decepticons; however, now that it is, you must know that the price of agreeing to Scorponok's demands will also be very high. The Decepticons will ravage your world, and your people. Do not go to war on strictly a reactionary basis. But, you must also not hope that by surrendering, that you are sparing yourselves or your loved ones from anything other than a life of slavery."

"You,re right, it's has been a long time. I'll open the vaults again a prepare our defenses, I wont let those things to-." But Duros was interrupted by the sound of screams. Then the message arrived about how those things were already there. He quickly took his weapon and prepared.

But, to his shock, those theings were much larger than he had expected. It would require more firepower to bring one down, let alone an army. One of them started to speak, that thing called itself Skyhammer. His speech was about courage, and about fighting, and, as weird as it sounded, Duros agreed, he wasn't going to surrender.

Then, Peer Soriza spoke. She did raised some good points, but when she took out her weapon, he quickly moved infront of her, protecting her from any harm those 'Autobots' could cause.

After another one of the Autobots spoke, Duros didn't knew why, but he trusted them. And he also knew that, if they didn't fight, they were doomed to a life of slavery. Without losing his sight of the Autobots, he approached Peer Galen. When he was close enough to him, so that anybody else could hear him, he spoke.

"Sir, I'm sorry if I'm getting out of line here, but those thing do raise a good point. I don't know if they're to be trusted or not, nor does matter. But, the one thing I know is that, if we don't do something, Nebulos is going to be eradicated. That Scornopok or however you spell it, he isn't kidding. He will eradicate us without hestitation. Sir, we need to do something.

Orbit over Nebulos--Bridge of the Semper Tyrannis

Cyclonus listened with no small amount of intrigue as Scorponok dealt with the organic natives of this world. They were a curious species. That was undeniable. He just couldn't understand what exactly they would have to discuss amongst themselves within the time frame that Scorponok had allotted. Did they actually imagine that they would be capable of resisting?

"Prepare our troops for invasion. I doubt these pathetic meatbags will accept our terms," Scorponok had ordered.

"By your command," Cyclonus said, dutifully rising from his post. As he exited the bridge, he opened the first of what would inevitably be a successive number of transmissions.

>>"Seacon Commander Snaptrap. You and your men will be among the first to join me in executing our High Commander's, and the Decepticon Empire's, ultimate plans for this world. We will rendevous outside the Nebulan capital of Koraja before the end of their solar cycle."<<

Cyclonus understood that not every Decepticon aboard the Tyrannis possessed the same flight capabilities that he did. Even so, he wanted to waste little time in carrying out Scorponok's orders.
___

The three composite units who comprised the Decepticon known as Reflector sat at their respective monitoring stations aboard the bridge of the Semper Tyrannis. One monitored incoming and outgoing communications, another kept a watchful pair of optics on the ship’s own internal systems and the third manned the helm, ready to move the ship wherever High Commander Scorponok so ordered.

Reflector was genuinely surprised that the natives had responded in the manner in which they had, and even more so that the mighty Scorponok had been generous enough to allow them even two of their native hours to contemplate the demand that had been made of them. Other worlds had not been as fortunate. Reflector did not dare voice such an opinion however. His place was to observe and report, and it was a function he excelled at achieving.

Only when an oddly familiar datastream spread across the spy grid that Black Shadow had established did Reflector speak. Spyglass was the one who turned to face the High Commander, but when he spoke, so two did the other two units, in unison.

“Datanet registering Cybertronian presence within Nebulos’ capital structure, High Commander. No Decepticon signatures recognized yet,” Reflector said.

If there were Autobots already present on this world--and what else could such a signature detection mean?--then the stakes had just risen considerably.

"Do not discount the impact of the possible influence you can achieve upon the field of war People of Nebulos. In spite of our intimidating structuring most of our ranks are not forged soldiers. I for one once considered a promising career in politics or something akin to that where my exemplary linguistic abilities would flourish. Sadly the war forced me to make the same choice as yourselves. I could surrender my freedoms and embrace an abysmal future as a slave of the very same warmongers that threaten you, or I could defy them to the last pulse of my life spark." Walking up beside Rad was Highbrow.

"I am no soldier, I am merely a man as you are, wishing to remain free to life as I so choose. Do not let my size fool you, I can be rent asunder with as much ease as you and yours. If fate were kinder I would be here to extend a hand of peace and learn all of could of this majestic world you call home. Sadly instead I must cast you a hand holding arms and make a vow to do all I can to make things right for bringing the beast of war to your lands. I am ashamed of that cruel reality friends. I wish it would not be so, but Scorponok will not allow it to be anything but most dire straights." Highbrow pauses for effect as he casts his eyes down on Peer Galen. "I do not expect a flowery speech to win you and yours over. I will not besiege your intellect with such foolery. All I can offer alongside apology is an unwanted yet necessary lesson in waging war. We can tell you how to best use what you have, and possibly improve on it to maximize your combat effectiveness. I do not know very much else I can offer to make this ghastly affair right."

"It is certainly not I whom you need to convince of this course of action, my friend," Galen said, still entranced by the size and nature of these huge, metal men. "The World Watchers were not established to sit idly by while our home is threatened. We respond to all threats, be they native or non. Oversee the disbursement of all armaments. We will need them. The Council will see that in time, even if that time is not yet upon us."

Galen could tell that even now, there were those within the Council of Peers who would want no part of a war, even when it stood outside their very gates. This 'Scorponok' had given them little time to debate the matter, so Galen did not seek to waste any time doing so.

When another of their kind arrived and added his thoughts to the ones that had come before, Galen could do nothing but listen, enraptured. Were it not for the manner in which this new race had been introduced to the citizenry of Nebulos, Galen's reaction would have been entirely peaceful and open to exploration and coexistence. That, however, was not to be.

"That, in itself, will be appreciated," Galen said, doing his best to reconcile the personalities of Scorponok with the ones who stood before him and the rest of the Council. It was no easy task. "I believe I speak for the Council when I say that High Commander Scorponok's terms are not acceptable."

A chorus of cheers echoed Galen's words.
___

Soriza had smiled when Duros had taken a defensive position. He performed his duty well and admirably, there was no question of that. But she also took notice of how quickly he went to Galen's side, no doubt advising the head of the World Watchers on how best to proceed. If the majority of those in the Council were to be believed, the people of Nebulos would resist.

To what end?

The female Councilor watched as another one of the metal men arrived at the council chambers. Whether it was intentional or not, this location was fast drawing the attention of these non-natives. That much was obvious. Scorponok's deadline for their surrender was also impending. She had no intention of being here when that time limit had expired, especially with their probable course of action.

"If you are with me, come now. We are unwise to linger, unless you wish to fight," Soriza said, turning to several of the other Peers who were in her direct vicinity. Several Council aides moved to join them as she quickly took her leave of the chambers. She would be of little use to her people dead.

“Datanet registering Cybertronian presence within Nebulos’ capital structure, High Commander. No Decepticon signatures recognized yet,”

Scorponok's gaze turned away from the planet he was observing through the bridge's windows to face the trio of Decepticons who had just addressed him in unison - Reflector.

"Autobots? They dare to interfere? I bring a fleet against their miserable counter infiltration unit and they do not understand to lie down. It is time for us to teach them the price of standing on our way." The gargantuan Decepticon general bellowed in anger, an eerie fire burning in his optics.

"Apeface! Snapdragon! With me! It is time to end this charade." Scorponok roared out commands to two of his most capable warriors and headed towards the orbital bounce pad without checking whether or not the two Horrorcons were following him. For he knew they would. Despite their nasty attitude and power, even they realized their limits. Decepticons who did not obey Scorponok's orders were known to have relatively short life expectancy.

Koraja - The Capital Dome

In a brilliant flash of light, the forms of the three Decepticons appeared just outside the council chambers. There was a reason Scorponok had selected these two to accompany him. Triplechangers barely suffered from the disorienting effects of orbital bounce, thus both Scorponok himself and the Horrorcons were ready to act as soon as the materialized. Not wasting any time, Scorponok swung his massive claws in a wide arch against the capital building, tearing a large portion of its roof away and clearing a massive opening into its walls, allowing the trio of Decepticons to enter the council chamber. If the size of Skyhammer had shocked the Nebulans, they were now witnessing a true giant even among Transformers. Even the two Horrorcons who stood taller than any of the present Autobots looked like children next to the High Commander's massive frame.

"Skyhammer." Scorponok sneered, not even looking at the Nebulans - his full attention focused on the Autobot in charge of the protecting the planet. "You are in a wrong place in a wrong time. Seize him!"

Following their leader's command, Apeface and Snapdragon shot into action. Snapdragon tackled the smaller Skyhammer into the floor while the Autobot was still drawing his gun and delivered a vicious punch to Skyhammer's face, cracking the Autobot's visor and rocking his gyro stabilizers. Meanwhile Apeface had already knocked Lionizer into the council seats and was closing in towards Rad and Highbrow in his beast mode.

"Rad, Highbrow! Gaaah! Get out of here!" Skyhammer yelled while trying to fight off the bigger and stronger Snapdragon with no avail. "The others! They need you! I'll hold them off as long as I can!"

Highbrow turned around the moment he heard the hum of the teleporters to see the twisted visages of Scorponok and the Horrorcons. He saw the horrific speed Snapdragon showed in tackling Skyhammer and how fast Apeface was moving towards them.

"What cowardice you show Decepticons." Highbrow says as he sees this. "You attack our quartet as if you were common barbarians from behind. Here I thought your Commander had at least some common decency. He's proving no better than your vile Aerospace Commander." He then hears Skyhammer's orders. "Rad, retrieve Lionizer and proceed with the implementation of our orders. I will acquire both of you and the Nebulans time to vacate the premises, even if it is to be my final moment of valor." He then begins to back away from the titanic Horrorcon, pulling out his guns. "Let us see if my corrosive projectiles may make an improvement upon your unsightly visage you visually offensive orangutan." He says as he fires upon the hulking Simian Triplechanger.

The sheer amount of weaponry and ammunition stored in the ship's main armory was impressive even to a warrior mech like Snaptrap. Once his Seacons had completed their training exercises and recharged their fuel cells to maximum capacity, he led them all down here where they could arm themselves accordingly for the coming invasion. It would not be long now before they were down on the planet's surface laying waste to everything in their path. Whether it be on land or by sea, the Seacons would be prepared for anything that could possibly be thrown at them.

As Snaptrap loaded his atom smasher cannon, he received a communique from Cyclonus, who informed him that they would be among the first wave of the initial Decepticon offensive against the Nebulans. This news suited Snaptrap just fine. Bringing death and destruction to a world's populace was what he and his team lived for. With any luck, they would also encounter members of the Autobots' counter-infiltration team. Then the real fun would begin.

The Seacon leader opened a comm line to give his response: >>"Understood, Aerospace Commander Cyclonus. Once my Seacons are fully armed we will immediately bounce down to the planet below. Are there specific coordinates outside the capital where you would like us to rendezvous with you, sir?"<<

Cyclonus had efficiently put all direct-combat members of the Semper Tyrannis' crew on alert. The Seacons were but the first to be given the opportunity to further the Decepticon cause on this planet. All others were to be prepared for similar deployments, depending on what circumstances Cyclonus encountered once he was on the ground. Truthfully, he would not be surprised if Scorponok were already planetside, waiting for him.

Having dealt with the ship's crew, Cyclonus had taken his opportunity to depart, transforming in to a distinctly recognizeable Cybertronian spacecraft and launching himself down towards the green-tinted world, his own fiery-lavender contrails streaking behind him.

>>"I'm bound for their capital city...Koraja. Lock on to my signal. We will move out from there, based upon their response to our High Commander's deadline."<<

It was entirely likely that once they landed, their entire purpose would be the cataloguing and processing of their newfound slaves before they were sent off in to workgroups to till whatever resources this world had to offer.

Autobot command bunker - The Folassian Forest

Spartan scowled when Roadbuster spoke up. The old warhorse had grown so quiet of late, and had taken to spending so much time powered down, that Spartan had simply forgotten that he was around. It was the kind of tactical blunder he would expect from Artemis, not from himself. Still, what was done was done and it couldn’t be changed. He’d just have to adjust his plans and let Roadbuster think that he’d intended him to hear all along.

Despite the fact that the so-called ground commander wasn’t formally a part of his team, he was a valuable military asset, and could be used as such, as long as he was willing to follow Spartan’s lead. Roadbuster did outrank him within the overall structure of the Autobots, but this was his operation, with his team, and hopefully Roadbuster would continue to play along. If not, he’d be dealt with. Spartan wasn’t above making the hard choices.

Spartan had smoothed his features by the time he turned towards Roadbuster and spoke, “I assume command foresaw something like this coming or you and my team wouldn’t have been assigned to this backwater. We’re frontline combat units, not phase 2 drones. Unfortunately for us, it seems they grossly underestimated the force the Decepticons have brought to bear. I believe we’re going to have to forego contesting their landings and…”

“Hey boss, I think you’d better see this,” Artemis interrupted.

Spartan turned to the screens where local news broadcasts were still showing the events taking place in the capital. Skyhammer had apparently been trying to convince the Nebulans that fighting the Decepticons was in their best interest, and apparently Scorponok had taken umbrage to the Autobot’s interference, and had immediately attacked. Now Skyhammer, not to mention Highbrow and Rad were, to put it colloquially, outmanned and outgunned.

“They’ve gotten themselves into this,” he began, ready to write the other Autobots off as a lost cause when he was again interrupted.

“Spartan, you’re not seriously going to give up on them are you,” Athena demanded. Spartan could see she was ready to launch into a full lecture on their “responsibilities” to the other Autobots, so he raised a hand to forestall her.

“Very well. Vulcan bounce Artemis to position delta 7 mark 4. That should place him approximately 200 miles from the capital. Athena you’ll bounce in at position delta 7 mark 1 - 50 miles out. Do a maximum speed / maximum range overflight to paint the targets for him, and he’ll bombard the Decepticon strike force from range. That should give our ‘fellow Autobots’ a chance to disengage and we’ll bounce them out.”

As Artemis and Athena sprinted to the bounce platform, Spartan glanced to Vulcan who had already taken up position at the bounce controls. “I want them back out of there as soon as the mission is accomplished,” then he turned to Roadbuster and added, “This won’t end well. It’s a tactical mistake to engage them now, but Skyhammer has put us in an untenable situation.”

The overall tone in the room seemed to be agreeable. Rad figured that he had at least made his point, and that the Nebulan leaders would not simply rush down one path or another without weighing the pros and cons of each. That time for consideration was cut short, however, when a new figure decided to make his presence known.

Rad had tenses as soon as the surface fluctuation sensors in his legs spoke of the arrival of another of their kind. One much larger than any of the Autobots currently serving on Nebulos.

By Primus…was the only thought that entered in to his mind before Scorponok’s massive form had crashed its way in to the Nebulan council dome. Debris came crashing from several directions as the classic architecture was clearly not meant to withstand such a brutal onslaught. Rad had moved to save some of the Peers who were in the direct path of some of the crushing stone and steel, but he had not been able to save them all. There would be casualties, even as Scorponok trudged forward and laid in to the mechanoid who clearly had taken the bulk of the large Decepticon’s attention: Skyhammer.

He was not alone, either. Horrorcons. Apeface and Snapdragon. Just great. The Decepticons were certainly investing a lot in this endeavor. Rad had long ago recognized the natural value that was inherent in this planet, but he couldn’t help but wonder if the Decepticons had seen even more than he had.

Rad reached for a weapon that he had brought, simply as a precautionary measure, but thought better of it. Engaging the Decepticons here, in that manner, would only increase the casualty rate. That was something that Rad had no desire to do.

Skyhammer, ever the noble Autobot archtype when it came right down to brass tacks, ordered both he and Highbrow to escape and regroup. Even Highbrow seemed to want to go the sacrificial route, taking on a Decepticon that significantly outclassed him. Rad too, to be honest. Still, it screamed against everything that Rad wanted to do. Autobots were in danger. His natural inclination was to fight. But he knew Skyhammer was right. They couldn’t do this. Not here.

Before he could make any move at all, a powerful fist had slammed across his cranial unit, knocking him to the ground. Apeface was hovering over him in no time at all, having easily shaken off the effects of Highbrow's corrosive attack.

"I'll deal with you in a sec, runt," Apeface said, growling at Highbrow and pounding one fist against his metallic chest before turning his focus back on Rad.

One simple blow had staggered nearly every operating system in Rad's body. He'd hate to endure too many more of those.

“Not leavin’ that easy, ‘Bot.”

"This was the easy way?" Rad grumbled, a small amount of black fluid trailing from one corner of his mouth.

Autobot command bunker - The Folassian Forest

Roadbuster looked over at Spartan, the old solider didn't think much of this teams commander. He was a strong combatant that was for sure and his ability to plan out a battle was nothing short of exemplary, but his abilities to command a team of living, thinking beings was more then a little desired. He was starting to suspect that mess up that landed him here was lewss of that and more of the experienced solider keeping a close eye on this one, he knew enough about command that they were desperate to fill command slots with those capable, even if they were cold, calculating glitches who would leave a 'Bot behind just because risking the resources didn't make tactical sense. Fortunatly for Roadbuster, he wasn't changed to this ones command structure and although he afforded him the respect his position deserved, he knew there would be times that he had to act on his own accord when the slag hit the fan.

"Yeah, you're right." Roadbuster said as he tapped the side of his head. "My processor must have stroked off there for a second, we gotta concentrate on breaking down this base, relocating to a new position and taking stock. This fight won't be easy and we gotta hold out long enough for someone somewhere to realize we've gone dark and send someone to find out why. Hopefully it will be Fort Max with an army behind him, or even better the Wreckers, but whether or not Primus himself is gonna come and haul our collective afts out of this disaster we gotta hold out."

He said as he began to take stock of his impressive personal arsenal. He looked up at the screen of the events transpiring in the capital. Skyhammer might be a bit of a blowhard with a piston installed way to far up his exhaust port, but he was a good 'Bot who knew his duty and responsibilities as an Autobot, even if he liked to lecture others about those virtues. He was a good kid and Roadbuster had a lot of respect for him, so much so that he wasn't going to leave him behind.

"A tactical mistake?" Roadbuster said locking optics with Spartan." It might not make tactical sense to engage some of the meanest Decepticons around to rescue a small group of 'Bots from being torn asunder, but trying to rescue 'Bots in danger is never a mistake. We're Autobots, saving lives is what we do, even if it means charging into the deepest parts of the Pit to do it." Roadbuster raised his auto-rifle in his hands and checked the magazine there. "Right now Skyhammer and his boys need our help, I'm going out there to bring them back." He said as he began to walk to the bounce platform, rifle slung over his shoulder. "Don't argue with me on this one Spartan, we don't have the time. You all do your best to get this place squared away to ship out, we can yell and scream at each other once we get back."

Roadbuster took up his position on the platform with Artemis and Athena and waited to be bounced away.

"You know I despise being ignored." Highbrow muttered under his breath. Highbrow then took another look at the Nebulans, there were some dead and the rest were wearing a face of terror and dispair. "But I despise you savages all the more for your inability to see the ramifications of your chaos." Highbrow then spied a sizable chunck of debris, one that looked big enough to be useful. Highbrow picks it up carefully, glad he was not a slouch physically. "See if this can garner your attention." He then throws it as hard as he can at Apeface.
