You do realize that based on his statement - he substituted "grounded" as the opposite of "sci-fi"? He is saying that Earth represents grounded (whatever that means in Bay's mind). Anything other than Earth (because he implied "the planet") is too sci-fi.
Basically - he doesn't want to show too much of Cybertron because that would incomprehensible. But Transforming rapping robots are completely plausible.
