He's a Hollywood type - if you didn't know he was full of sh** going into the whole deal, you were asking for disappointment from the beginning.

I still prefer the '07 movie TFs as they are.

Well I really cant tell you the truth about the writters of Bay's film but if you were following all hype before the film the writters "Claimed" to be "old school fans" that knew every thing about the characters and the TF universe and mythos.

But that could have all been a load of BS.

I think it's a given that Bay and his writers knew two things about Transformers: jack and ****. Compare that to Batman Begins. The director is a serious guy who isn't regarding the film as a kiddie product that doesn't need to make sense, and the writer pretty much got into script writing in the hope of one day being able to work on a Batman movie. Guess what? Nolan and Goyer made a better movie.

Read some of the publicity when the Batman & Robin movie came out, and you'll hear about what a big fan Joel Schumacher was from childhood, how Batman was his favourite comic, and what an honour it is to be bringing it to the screen, how he gets heaps of inspiration from the comics etc.

They're all a bunch of Hollywood phonies.

A least when Michael Bay talks about old-school transformers you get a more honest sense of his veiled contempt for the franchise.

Actually Joel Schumacher and his two Batman films are a bad exsample of calling a "Hollywood phonies".

Joel Schumacher was true to his words when it was reguarding his claim to being a "big fan from his childhood, how Batman was his favourite comic" and how he was taking heaps of inspiration from the comics he read.

You forget that the Batman comic itself changed a lot in the 50+ years before his movies.

Joel Schumacher was born in 1939 and most likely would have been a fan of the Batman comic in the 50's and 60's and that the era in Batman comics that was just just as campy as the Adam West TV show.

Joel used that era for his insperation for his films.

Granted its not what the fanbase wanted or was expecting but he was true to his word.

Batman and Robin looked just like the Batman comics of the 50's and 60's.

It still sucked thou

Batman and Robin sucked because the studio wanted more gadgets and costume changes to sell toys. Batman Forever, Chris O'Donnell (the Great Unpleasantness) aside, was a pretty good film. Kilmer was, for my money, a better Batman than Keaton or Clooney, and the villains weren't bad either. A decent family film, just not the sort of thing to appeal to the more noir-obsessed Batfan.

Having every issue of Detective Comics on my hard drive, I can tell you, I'm well aware of that. Maybe that's a bad example, but it's such a superficial movie that I don't believe for a instant that Schumacher was a big fan. I think he smelled money.

Nevertheless I think the Schumacher movies were in their way at least as true to Batman as Batman Begins. The villains of Batman Begins were weak and colourless, the antithesis of even the most drab of the comics.

What ruined all of them was poor taste.

I felt that "Forever" was a bit more enjoyable because of Tims influance.

You may be right about him smelling money but I always felt that his Batman movies were so full of color and over the top camp and jokes that it was very simular to the books of the 50's trew 60's and the West tv show. And since he was of an age to be watching and reading Batman at the time, it seemed to me that he was a fan of the Batman from that era.

I dont think that Schumacher movies were really true to the moder interpertation of the character but I do feel simular about "Begins" bad guys.

They just didnt feel right to me.

Hasbro must surely be keeping tabs on this(?)
I wonder what the odds are of them flexing their corporate muscles and reigning Bay and his...shall we say 'creative liberties' in for the next films?

Probably zero nad none, but it still seems pretty evident that they were testing the water with this vid. I think if Tf's made a big screen appearance like this it would sink 'Titanic,' or at least come in a close second.

I doubt that ether Hasbro or Paramont will interfere with Bay over how popular this CGI vid is.

Fact is wether of not his Movie was well recieved by the fandom or not the general public ate it up and the film made more then enough money to warent them leaving Bay alone to his plans for TF 2.
