Calling Classics repaint here! Which doesn't say much. I am curious about Galvatron and Astrotrain however. Tankor/Octane/Octone I don't really care about.

Agreed. I'm very positive that they're slight redecos of Classics toys. I'm interested in how drastic they are to the old decos.

These sets interest me greatly. I do not own Astrotrain and Mirage, and while not necessary, I'd like to see replacements of Galvatron, Octane, Ironhide, and Hound in my collection, since my units are starting to show their age.

I hope the Astrotrain has a show accurate deco similar to the Henkei version which I never was able to acquire. If it is, I'll be getting the Decepticon set. Unless the decos on the Autobots are drastically different and superior to their ancestors, I'll be skipping them.

I wonder what a more G1 Deco of Mirage would look like? Would it be a drastic improvement or minimal?

I wonder if Hasbro has any inclination to release these in North America, perhaps as a retail exclusive. I love the unified look of the Seeker Aces and Elites, but not enough to pay extra for importing them. Can hardly wait to see if these sets will be worth it, though.

Seibertron.com member Mindmaster dropped by with word of two new potential Generations three-packs to be released in Korea. The listing information comes from Transformer Korea and mentions:

Decepticon Specialists
  • Galvatron
  • Octane
  • Astrotrain

Autobot Specialists
  • Ironhide
  • Mirage
  • Hound

These are said to come in special collector style packaging similar to the recently released Asian exclusive Seekers: Aces and Seekers: Elites sets.

If these are the Classics/Universe molds, Mirage, Hound, and Astrotrain are the only ones worth looking into.

Aside from giving their decos ADOS, I'm not sure how much more could be added the decos of these.

This is good news for me, I'm missing Galvatron, Astrotrain, Hound, Iron Hide and Mirage in the classics line so I will surely get these two sets somehow and they will be a great addition to my classics/generations collection.

So what's the asking price? $120? Or is that too optimistic?

I like the reissues, but the prices are just exorbitant. It's really too bad Hasbro doesn't release a version of these for around $60-80. But I guess the predominant mindset among collectors is, "Screw the deluxes! I'm selling my collection and getting all MPs!!! "

Bleh. MPs are too big. :BANG_HEAD:

Ooo... Gives me an opportunity to sell my older versions and feel like I have some loose cash before it all gets taken away again.
:HEADHURTS:

But, in all seriousness, I enjoy these Asia Exclusive 3-packs. At least with the Seekers, benefits included:

-Collector friendly packaging: you don't ruin a 'card' when opening them.
-Extension of the above: the box art is really nice/collectible/displayable.
-Due to the high list price, they eventually go on sale anyway (i.e. both Seeker sets are currently available for a more reasonable $90 on TFsource).
-The deco's are really nice - in some cases the best for that particular mold.

Barring the apps being terrible, I'm on board for these.

Am I the only one who at least mildly enjoys Octane?

If you're a bit patient and don't mind waiting a bit after the release some buyers will break up the set and you could get Astrotrain solo and not have to buy all 3.

This will be very interesting on both factions. I personally missed out on Henkei Ironhide so I will possess him. I'm also curious on the price to see if they will be more expensive then that of the Seekers. :VEHI:

I'm really curious to see how they might deco these to be any different... or more show accurate. I could see...

Galvatron - more purple
Octane - chrome tanker
Astrotrain - G1 Toy color (light gray)

Hound - desert version (eHobby style)
Mirage - improved G1 deco OR Diaclone Red
Ironhide - improved G1 deco, or eHobby Diaclone Black

While I doubt they'd do these eHobby/Diaclone decos. I'd REALLY REALLY REALLY like them. If they put them out on the shelf, I'd snatch them up, too. Seriously, a red race car and desert jeep... and a "movie color" Ironhide. Great ideas for the shelf.

I'd also jump at a "G1" Swindle from Hound like they did in Alternators. Would be fantastic.

Corrected. I liked Octane. I really didn't have a problem with any of the classics line, but maybe I was just too star-struck about G1's coming back into retail. :-?

Unfortunately, I think the Diaclone/Movie colors are a pipe dream. They've historically focused on giving us premium G1 decos.

Yeah, I'll admit they're unlikely for these sets. Maybe while the molds are on the presses they can squeeze out something for the main line or subscription that fits the bill.

Red Mirage could be a new G1 character for the main line... plus Skid-Z and Machine Wars Prowl for a club store exclusive and the subscription service.

(Skid-Z can hang out with the new versions of Scourge, Side Burn and SkyByte.)

Just sayin'.

Shattered Glass Ironhide's deco is technically an homage to his Diaclone self, so I could see the Club doing that as a convention exclusive or as a TFSS mail-away...
