New TF game: Is it any good?

I've been looking at playing the new movie TF game(I loved the movie, btw), but with the mediocre reviews it's been getting I was wondering if it's any good.

Is it any good for just mindlessly destroying stuff? How does it handle transformations? Is there a multiplayer mode(not necessarily online).

I prefer the DS Version. If you want to destory stuff buy Decepticons as far as I know you destroy stuff I have atuobots so I dont know for sure.

No, it's not good.

There is no multiplayer function, or online function at all.

The main focus seems to be "how the environment would react to a 30 foot robot" and not "how we can make this game fun"

Buildings can be broken by walking near them. A tree can demolish an entire building without breaking.

Driving is sloppy and annoying. Way too many "get to this checkpoint" missions.

You can't hurt humans at all, which would have made the whole "protect humanity" thing on the Autobots side more meaningful.

It really isn't worth buying. I rented it, and took it back a couple days later just because the game was boring.

The only one worth your time is the DS version. It's pretty good.

Really? That's odd, as I usually stay far, FAR away from portable versions of games on current-gen consoles.

What makes it better than the console versions?

Well thats YOUR opinion senor hugo but i actualyl fidn the game to be lots of fun.

Mindlessley blowing stuff up is fun, transformatuiosn look and handle brilliantly, and the graphics on the 360 version are nice.

If you are a TF fan, and want to just drive or fly around, blow crap up and fight giant freaking robots and have a bit of fun no nonesense brainless mayhem then get it.

It doesnt "suck" as bad as some people think. You could do ALOT worse then enjoy a game based on your favourite fandom.

You lot are a bunch of philistines. :P

I posted this in another thread about the 360 version:

In many ways, the game feels like a glorified verson of the retro game Rampage. You walk around and destroy stuff.

It is a fun game, but is far from perfect.

The graphics and sound on the 360 are pretty sharp. Nothing spectacular though, and I have noted some clipping and other glitches. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say 8 / 10.

Gameplay is okay. The missions and even the action get repetitive. Shooting is often a waste of time and it is more effective to just keep smashing your melee attack button.

The biggest problem is driving, especially with Bumblebee in the Hoover Dam missions. It feels like you are driving on ice! The car seems to float and it is easy to catch yourself bouncing from wall to wall. I also find myself just transforming to bot mode to get unstuck and turned the right way. Gameplay I's rate a 7 out of 10, because smashing stuff as a big TF is still fun.

Overall, this is a mediocre game escalated to a must have game (for me anyway) simply because it is Transformers.

Now when I saw the movie I see the game with other eyes, in the movie the most attention is on the humans how they solve the problem with the invation of the Transformers, for those who found that it was mor attention on the humans in the movie can live the full attention on the Transformers in the game, sure it's not really that good but I take it for a little support that you can play the campaign with the Transformers with full English languages not that mistirious coding like in the movie that sound like this annoying beeping from the Minicons from the Transformers Armada series.

it wasnt very good, the story was to different from the movie, the fighting was simple and the graffics werent too good either, the best thing about it was transforming of course. i give it 6 out of 10

i thought the game over all was pretty entertaining. i mean if you're a transformers fan how many games have you got to work with? 2. i never played armada but transformers the game isn't horrible by any means and if you love transformers as i do then this is a great game! i have the Wii version of the game but whatever platform you have i would highly recommend getting it to quench your transformer needs :).

The PS2/3/360/pc versions : okay. I've got it for the ps2 (got a free TF shirt too - only avalibale at game) and played it on a mates x360 and its okay. Not great.

The main problems(for me)are the lack of a "real" free-roam, like the ones in mercineries and GTA, the fact that you cannot really choose your chatactor (only through the unlocked charactors) and that the best charactors (IMO) cannot be played as! Come on, I wanted to play as Brawl, Bonecrusher and Ratchet. Whats not to like about driving around as the modified M1A2 Abrams turning buildings and vehicles into scrap?

I've played on the PSP versions when I went to a friends and it was great. The graphics are bad but when you can play as all the movie charactors and 25 G1 charactors its good.

Get the game on the console if you want good graphics and no multiplayer but go for the PSP if you want more charactors and online.

PS2: 7/10

The new Transformers game is not very good. Just think of Final Fight. Now, put it in 3D. Add robots. That's pretty much it.

That being said, I had a blast playing it. It's fun as hell! I cleared the game 100% and I still want more. I'll probably just reinstall and replay it.

Since I just got back from a vacation, I didn't get the chance to post this yet, but I thought I would add to this conversation with my review of the 360 version.

The game is very very bad.

Very bad.

As if the control issues weren't enough (and they are enough to make you scream and scare the dog) the "Plot" doesn't make sense.

"Jazz, I need you to go make a distraction so we can escape."

"You bet Prime, I'm going to blow up gas stations and parked cars"

"Sounds good, Roll out bitches!"

minutes later....

"Ironhide, I need you to rescue Jazz. It appears he has gotten unwanted attention from blowing up gas stations and parked cars."

the hell.

Well, i liked it and thought it was fun. I dont know what everyone is going on about with the camera, i had no troubles with it, you guys must just suck at the game. :P

Story didnt make sense i agree, but i had fun with it and thats all that matters. Plus its an easy 1000 gamerscore for 360 owners.

My girlfriend just bought a Wii and while I never play games I've gotta admit I really want to have a crack at this one. Any feedback for the Wii version?

Its significantly harder than the other versions because the learning curve for using the motion sensor stuff is pretty steep.
