The more I look at Bumblebee, the more I wonder "how does he transform?" I don't see any obvious car parts.
And I'm not sure what's going on with his shoulders. I'm trying to imagine him at a different angle, straight-on, but I don't know how to interpret them. It's all just shapes.

it's like they took prime, which was a cross between animated and the movie series, and added another bit of animated.

Or took Prime and put it through a 2D filter.

If Prime had been a 2D cartoon instead of a 3D cartoon, this is probably what it would have looked like.

Minus the uber brightness to Bee's color scheme.

Oh, and Bee would be snarling or grimacing instead of smiling. Can't have happy moods in serious warfare. :P

This image looks more Animated than Prime to me, and not just because they put it through a 2D filter.

This BB seems like he is a body with BB armor, which harkens just a tad more to Animated than to Prime, though it is clearly inspired by both series' iconic imagery.

Also, I have to ask this. Sabrblade, do you even exist outside Transformers?

After having a shift at work to think about this and sooth my boobs, I will still try and remain optimistic about the new series. This is only ONE character design out of many that we'll be seeing. I got used to, and came to like, the aesthetic of the movie transformers, so I still might come around on this. I'm just sick to death of Bumblebee as well, so that could be adding to my dislike of the design, because of the character they chose.

Either way, everyone can calm down, I've decided NOT to hate this (for now).

Pros:
1. Will back as Bumblebee
2. Not completely CGI (hopefully meaning more characters)
3. Hopefully new team will mean a new team and not just rehashing the movie lineup

Cons
1. Bumblebee is in it
2. Movie/Prime design
3. Bumblebee is the main hero
4. Bumblebee clogging up toy stores again

I'm not sure I like the direction Hasbro is going. I get that the toys and cartoons are for kids, but this simplistic vibe with the toys and more animated style of cartoon is taking steps back in my opinion. Prime was entertaining, and a little darker. Maybe too dark for kids, so I pose the question, why can't we have both? Bring in this, and then bring in a War for Cybertron variant which focuses on pre-Earth Transformers that's geared to an older crowd. No humans...that would be something I would like to see. And for that series you can actually make toys that have more than 3 step transformations. I liked animated, but not after watching Prime. In Prime,Megatron made the series for me. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

This cartoon is the one for the older audiences. The little kid audiences are gonna have Rescue Bots season 3 to watch.

There is some seriously misconstrued thinking going on here. just because this show will be tonally lighter that Prime does not mean that it has to be intellectually dumber.

Why, the aforementioned younger audience series has a villain who constantly bests our heroes through political wit and legal manipulation (as well as through his brilliance and charisma), which are things that go right over small children's heads and appeal only to older audiences.

I hate being the grumpy old man. But, sorry, I don't like it.
Wasn't thrilled about the Prime design, and not into Rescuebots.
So not the dream mix for me.

Can't they please switch back to cell animation?
Maybe a bit more japanese mecha flavoured, there are plenty of
slightly more mature stories in the comics. Why not a miniseries?

Will give it a try.

Doesn't matter, the new movie is going to put a smile on mah face for a few months :)

Haha! My goodness, that GoBots, though. I'm saying my chief fear is that the designs will match up with the mood, and to me, this design screams the child's show that is Rescue Bots. Of course, I have been wrong before, and the designs don't necessarily go for a show's tone, though they play a lot into it. One comparison I would like to make is to When They Cry, a awesome anime that had cutesy-looking characters, and turned out to be about insanity and bludgeoning people to death murder. I agree with you that I overreacted, but I am still rather stressed over this.

Anyone have a clue to what the main storyline or focus could be of this? Shockwave is still alive, so that leaves him open to be the potential main villain. And if Starscream survived his encounter with Predaking at the end of Predacons Rising, I'd certainly like to see him return, back to his usual scheming! :CON: And Megatron/Galvatron is out there too, even if he isn't evil or a Decepticon anymore... Maybe he could help the Autobots?
And does anyone think it'd be cool to maybe have characters based off of ones in Beast Wars? Maybe a Rattrap or Silverbolt, to add some personality to the show?
We had a season about Predacons, why not Maximals? :-?

I'm going to give this a shot. It looks pretty interesting.

My only gripe is that they're making Bumblebee the main character and, for me, Transformers doesn't have one. It has main factions and characters we focus on, but no traditional MC. By giving it a main character, I feel that it defeats the purpose. But since it's no longer a war story (that we know of), I suppose it is only fitting that we'd focus on a few more than the many.

Because that's the fault of the cartoon and totally not a problem with retailers over-ordering and overstocking the toy.

I wonder if Derrick Wyatt and Marty Isenberg be involved?

Can they make a series that can bridge appeal across young kids, older kids and adults?

Animated and Rescue Bots had the fun factor that works for all ages, but too much of a cartoony aesthetic or intent for older kids or cynical adults.

Prime and Movieverse had the cool factor, but too violent/dark or scary-looking for moms and younger kids.

Animated did get dark at times. Lockdown, in his first appearance, was essentially an organ harvester.
