The only other thing I collect is Chess Sets. I have 6 different ones. Wood, Marble, Porcelain, Glass, Shotglasses, and Pewter dragon/fantasy. Now I will have 7. Awesome. I saw this on Seibertron.com

Many fans have wanted a Transformers chess set, and now we are getting one thanks to SOTA Toys. SOTA Toys has offically announced that they will be producing a chess set based on Transformers. Not only that, but the set will be based on the G1 cartoon. The chess set is set to be released in May 2007. Here is the product description Bigbadtoystore.com:

"Sota Toys brings us an awesome new Chess Set licensed by Hasbro. The figures in this set will be Generation One based and stand at about 3.5" tall for the larger items. The board will be Transformers themed and measture around 17" x 17" x 3". This is a large and heavy set that is fully painted.

The Autobots side of the board features:
King = Optimus Prime
Queen = Rodimus
Knight = Grimlock
Bishop = Ultra Magnus
Rook = Jazz
Pawn = Bumblebee

The Decepticon side of the board features:
King = Megatron
Queen = Galvatron
Knight = Starscream
Bishop = Soundwave
Rook = Shockwave
Pawn = Kickback"

Nice - pity they're making it toon-styled, for my own tastes, but still - nice.
Unusual choice of pawn for the Decepticons, though. I'd've expected something like Rumble...

Seemed a bit weird to me at 1st too, but I guess for awhile in g1, the insecticons were doing most of the energon production work.

The other weird thing is the lack of traditional rival matchups, other than The king and Queen? (Hehe, galvatron as a queen is a bit funny too :lol: )

I would love these sets but man they are multiple car payments high.

It's only $225.00 Preorder at bigbadtoystore.com. That's 1/6 the price of my favorite set (pewter). It's also less than either one of my car payments. Sounds like Daddy's gettin' a new chess set for Christmas. Preorder at least. My B-Day is 2 days after Christmas so I get pretty much whatever I want. :twisted: :lol:
