Drew Brees finally got what was coming to him. $100 million for 5 years. It was smart for the Saints to sign him and to do it now so there isn't a distraction at training camp.

Yeah, but you can't argue that he's worth it. Especially with all the bounty-related punishment the team faces this season. Hopefully he will be well-protected. He's a talented quarterback and a good guy from what I can tell. He shouldn't pay for the bounty scandal by getting hit by teams looking for payback.

And do you think the bounty put on Brett Favre that resulted in some vicious hits hastened the end of his career, or at least his productive years with Green Bay?

Well sadly, thats whats going to end up happening anyway. Some linebacker is going to walk into the superdome thinking "these jack offs want to hurt one of MY guys? I'm gonna hurt THEM."

Also, I think while the bounty may have helped, Brett Farve was well past his prime (he was in his fourties when he retired, thats pretty freakin old in football).

It's almost here. Preseason starts this week!

I would like to make my official predictions for the year:

AFC East: Patriots
AFC North: Ravens
AFC West: Raiders
AFC South: Titans
Wildcard: Jets
Wildcard: Steelers

AFC title: Jets over Steelers

NFC East: Giants
NFC South: Panthers
NFC West: 49ers
NFC North: Packers
Wildcard: Cowboys
Wildcard: Bears

NFC title: 49ers over Bears

Super Bowl XLVII: Jets over 49ers

Yeah, I know those picks don't make a lot of sense. I just have a feeling about the Bears, and the Jets are my team, I'm sticking with them no matter what. I think both the Pats and Packers will finish 12-4 or better, but they will stumble in the playoffs.

So the Jets can't score a touchdown...Buffalo? Anything to add?

Man, the Browns must feel horrible, I thought they had that won. It would have been great to see them finally win an opener. And what about the Saints getting pushed around? And Colts fans can finally calm the f**k down. Peyton 2.0 is not the messiah.

Sorry I joined this party late. Also, I am warning in advance my team is a very hated team current based in Tarrant County, TX (I grew in Fort Worth and also am a Rangers, Mavericks, and Stars fan), so bear with me with my input.

Preseason, preseason, but it is the ESPN Jets, so everyone will over analyze them.

The Eagles have this plague-like Man U-like ability to win those games, but they look veryt overrated. Then again, they might go 14-2. The Browns might have a Weeden or Barkley debate next year

And Colts fans can finally calm the f**k down. Peyton 2.0 is not the messiah.

I actually saw Peyton 1.0's first game. He threw a multi INT clunker himself. All the people at my ex-alma mater Illinois thought that Ryan Leaf was better, just because he did a RG III/ Cam Newton/ Vince Young in a Rose Bowl impression on a 0-11 Big ten team.

RGIII was a bad man at Baylor. He made you watch BAYLOR FOOTBALL. Just be glad your team doesn't have to face him twice a year! Two more words: That Stinks!

Rodimus Prime, it gets worse. I still need deprograming from my college days. Here is two stories, one funny and one grim, from college football from games I saw live and in-person.
One year after the Leaf torching (which I didn't see live), Illinois broke its 17? (it was long one) losing streaking by beating Middle Tennesee State, so we charged the field to tear down the goal posts. Yes, we tried to tear down the goal post celebrating a Big Ten school beating MTSU. Slight, we spend 5 minutes working on the goalpost, still it stood. Students from one of "elite" engineering schools in the nation if the planet could NOT figure how to TEAR DOWN A GOALPOST. MTSU fans here heckling us. Of course, I was accepted to this university which was once third in the nation for engineering (I later became a history major) and was sober (I rarely drink) and I just pushed on that goalpost like a moron like everyone else and we could not move it. How can bunches (at least 30-50 kids) of stupid Illini cannot figure how to knock down a dadgum goalpost!
On grimmer note, my first NCAA game I watched ever live was Illinois (which grew to hate) bolwing a 20+ point lead to Penn State. Guess, who was Penn State defensive coordinator at the time  . I'll end it at that.

d_sel1s awful week 2 (15 random monkeys flipping coins will probably give you better pick. Winners in bold)

KC at Buffalo

Cleveland at Cinncinnati- If Shumur cannot beat Jay Gruden's (offensive coordinator) Bengals, then Cleveland will want John Gruden as new Brown Head Coach

Minnesota at Indianapolis- What is with Minnesota's schedule. Was Savannah State unavailable? Somehow, Indy's winning anyway

Oakland at Miami- Oakland punt team should be better, am I right

Arizona at New England- Does it matter who the QB for the Cardinals is this game. Kurt Warner or Neil Lomax isn't walking through that door.

Tampa Bay at Giants- Is this wishful thinking on my part.

Baltimore at Philly- If Vick keeps playing like did last week, all Browns win did is make Landry Jones the Eagles' first round pick in 2013 instead of the Eagles getting Mark Barkley with a first overall pick in the 2013 Draft

New Orleans at Carolina- Tommorow, I might change mind on this pick. Too late now.

Houston at Jacksonville- The Jaguars can win, if Gary Kubiak gets the 24 hour flu, can't coach, and Wade Phillips is the head coach for this game.

Washington at St Louis- I can understand the Rams trading the no 2 overall pick. I don't quite understand the logic of trading down twice and picking a LSU D-Lineman (Michael Brockers).

d_sel1 picks cont

Tennessee at SD- If CJ2K keeps his bad numbers up, he will become CJR2013, R as in released

Dallas at Seattle- Dallas SHOULD be 2-0 after tommorrow, SHOULD!

Jets at Steelers- Rodimus's Jets, please end our long national nightmare.

Detroit at San Francisco- Is proper seibertron.com etiquette to pick against any team with a Megatron on it? How about a city where Transformers Animated is set?

Denver at Atlanta- This game should be the best game. Darn it, I just jinxed this game into a 0-0 tie.

F**king Jets almost gave me a heart attack...

Hell of a game for the Titans as well.

Hate to say it, but the Superdome is now officially a toilet bowl because the Saints are turds. I really thought they were gonna win this one. They were playing the Chiefs. The CHIEFS.

Patriots lose, Steelers lose, Titans win and Jets win. <--- the perfect NFL weekend. :D

Saints 0-3
Pats 1-2

WTF..
Well the Saints are playing **** HOWEVER the damned sub refs are blowing calls left and right.. Not just in the Saints games, in EVERY game I have watched this season.. Yesterdays Pats game was atrocious with penalties and bullshit calls..
As was the Saints game.. So many blown/wrong calls from the refs..

I can't watch NFL anymore until the damned regular refs come back.. Their calls are completely ruining the game right now..

Wow, the ending of that Packers-Seahawks game? Wow.

Honestly, nobody had a clear view of where the ball actually was, it just seemed that Jennings had it. Then 1 ref calls TD the other signals for a TB? I hope the regular referees come back soon, because this is ridiculous. If the Packers were that good, it shouldn't have even come down to a play like that, but it is what it is.

It's still not as bad as baseball umpires. Those people are given way too much power.

Well the scrub refs are out and the real ones are coming back.. According to ESPN this morn the debauchery that was the Monday night game only helped the NFL to move their asses and come to an agreement with the refs..

I still do not know if I am interested in this season as things are already messed up with the standings for so many teams especially if it comes down to some sort of division tie issue to move into the post season..

Yeah, the refs' bad calls have decided a few games so far through excessive penalties and miscalculations, but I think it's still early enough in the season for those teams to end up where they were going to be. I think both Green Bay and Seattle will still make the playoffs and the Saints will still suck. That Detroit-Tennessee game was the only one that sticks out for me that could have had a different outcome due to the refs' screw-ups. It might make a difference in their playoffs, as I thought the Titans would be a wild card team anyway, if not the AFC South winner. (I'm not drinking Houston's Kool Aid just yet.) But the Lions were going to miss the playoffs anyway, the Packers would get the NFC North and the Bears and Cowboys would get the wild card spots.

But I'm glad the regular refs are back.

Too bad Darrelle Revis is out for the season, which pretty much f**ks the Jets' season anyway. :? Hopefully there's still a chance for the wild card.
