Wait, are Crosshairs' lower legs stuck together with a solid hood piece? If so, is that supposed to be the Generations Deluxe toy? And if yes to that, why would they pull something that homages G1 toy engineering in the wrong way like that?

Too much green kid in those shots.
The deluxes cars look cheap and stupid as hell in robot mode.
The deluxe dinos are not too bad.
Flip-Change? For who those toys are made? Kids? Pah!

Mixed feelings so far. Let's wait and see.

Even when I was a kid, I would MAKE myself transform all my TFs without even glancing at the instructions. It always turned out just fine. And these are supposed to be "easier" and more "kid friendly." If they can't transform these properly, my ever-diminishing faith... wait I never had any faith in humanity. I should say expectations. Yes, that's it. My expectations of the future of the human race just got even lower than they were before. I didn't think it possible to get any lower. And being that these are supposed to be official photos, wouldn't it stand to reason that Hasbro would, I don't know, make sure the figures were transformed properly for their official marketing photos? Or is that just a stupid idea?

That Crosshairs is transformed wrong as hell. Unless they changed the hell out of him. If not then I'll still pick him up. I'm going to skip that Bumblebee. I've already got more movie Bumblebees than I'm comfortable admitting. Dinobots though are a must-buy for me.

Sure, but you probably had pictures on the packaging to go by, right? It's possible that who transformed these had very little idea as to how they're supposed to properly look in robot mode and instead just took a stab in the dark working from sheer guesswork.

this is purely pathetic. .. that kid can't be that stupid.. also.. what boy is going to be this happy about a purple dinosaur? .. i know i certainly am not.

My son spotted that 8+ straight away and interestingly he was more interested in Drift than he was in the Dino's.
It's likely all just a marketing ordeal. Hasbro probably wants to get people to notice that the Generations toys are aimed at the older demographics, but since they still have to market them as children's toys, they need to keep the age limit low enough to keep it in the kids range but high enough to not be in the same lower leagues as the younger RB and RID lines.

After all, I doubt that the stores would wanna put "Age 18 and Up" items in the children's toy sections. :P

True, I just think its all a bit unnecessary. That said my son still gets frustrated with Beast hunters Smokescreen even now, so I can understand why they might think this was a good idea.

here's the problem.. hasbro can't consistently make transformations that are complex.. but easy.. i mean.. take MP sideswipe.. his transformation isn't difficult at all, there are quite a few steps.. but it's easy.

i don't understand why they need to dumb everything down.

and these colors.. i will NEVER understand why they choose the colors they do.. and why is it that takara actually has eyes and is able to give these toys proper paint jobs.. it's just further proof that hasbro doesn't give a crap and just wants to make money.. i mean, if they cared, they'd at least use accurate hues of colors rather than seemingly just picking colors out of a hat.

look at drift.. the damn car in the movie ISN'T ROYAL BLUE!!.. the fact that the toy is amazes me.

why would they ruin an entire line with terrible color choices when it didn't have to be this way. it baffles me.

Don't you remember what happened with the decos of the Generations Fall of Cybertron Combaticons? IIRC, the reason we didn't get the game-accurate decos outside of A) a limited SDCC exclusive, B) TakaraTomy, or C) the exclusive Platinum Edition, was because the retailers didn't want to carry the dull-colored versions, wanting brightly-colored inaccurate decos instead.

The same is likely the case for the Dinobots. Retailers want bright colors over dull colors, but the filmmakers preferred dull colors over bright colors.

That kid in the tight green shirt really creeps me out. He looks way too old to be getting all giggly over toys. It's ok to collect toys at any age. Hell, look at us. But a 12 year old acting like a 5 year old is pretty disturbing.

Those poor mistransformed toys.

And I still don't get why there's one step figures, flip and change (which are more one step figures) and power battlers (simplified with gimmicks) all at the same time. Three different lines that are supposed to fill the same role. I worked at a Toysrus for a while and I know that children don't go there and buy Transformers and very rarely do adults looking to buy for children buy Transformers. This might just be my area but it just makes me wonder why they have three similar lines aimed at people who don't seem to want them. Oh and Rescue Bots are still a thing so there will actually be four different lines to do the same thing at the same time. At least Rescue Bots aren't cluttering the Transformers isle like the rest will be. Why are Construct Bots in with the normal Transformers and not in the building section with the Kreos? Also, why did I see pictures somewhere of the Transformers Rock'em Sock'em Robots styled game in the normal isle too? Shouldn't that be in with the board games?

It's not like it was years ago when Transformers had one whole side of an isle for stuff in Toysrus. Now they're lucky to get even a fifth of that space for three times as much stuff.

man the plastic looks really cheap & bland on these guys, scorn is about the only one that looks ok. Really hope they arent charging $15 for these guys, anything above $10 is a major ripoff. Really hope the stores dont overstock on these like they did with DOTM cause if they do generations is screwed.

I'm only commenting on the Deluxes, because those are the only ones I'm vaguely interested in.

Crosshairs and Bumblebee look really cool in vehicle mode, and Crosshairs is okay in robot mode. Bumblebee looks awful in robot mode, especially those super-thin ankles.

Slag...er...Slug is horribly painted, but chalk that up to retailers. I hope Takara does a more movie accurate deco. If they do and IF I end up getting it, he'll be staying in triceratops mode the whole time. His robot mode is horrible.

Surprisingly, I actually like Scorn okay, despite him having thin ankles and elf-shoed feet like Grimlock. His robot mode is the best I've seen of the Dinobots so far, and is anyone else getting a WFC Air Raid vibe from him on the head?

Slug is 11 kinds of wonderful, I'm honestly going to get all the age of extinction deluxe dinobots (the four we know of, Snarl getting a deluxe green ankylosaur/stegasaur seems reasonable based on his kreo toy) beause of their glorious color schemes.

If he's mistransformed, should the photographer or Hasbro notice that the toys are not converted correctly and retake these shots (in the correct way)? And what's with Slug's face in the promo image? It looks dark and disgusting. Crosshairs's vehicle mode has one design on one side and a blank green on the other. Maybe it's not finished with the paint.
