Why didn't they just name him Octane? Isn't that who he is suppose to be. :-?

I believe it's cause they lost the rights to his name.

Octane is actually one of my more anticipated figures. The deluxe size is great, and I'm also wondering if he has any hands! Is that blade molded on like Classics tank Megs? Is that gun removable? So many questions...

HASBRO probably doesn't have the rights to the name anymore. Like Hot Rod being Rodimus Major in the classics line.

People who call Octane Tankor are the same people that call Movie Brawl Devastator.

I love how they mixed moving packaging with universe. These figures rock.

You know, I'm really excited for this line to resume (and continue), and I will be collecting the hell out of it. But you know what the first thing I noticed about the packaging was? The 2 letter S's. They aren't right.

On everything that's used that G1-style type face (back to the original TV series, comics and toylines), with the notable exception of the Dreamwave G1-era comics, the two instances of the letter S had different bottoms. The one in the first syllable has the tail of the S ending in a slant like a forward slash. The one in the final syllable has the S ending in a backward slash.

The new Universe packaging takes the easy way out. It's a minor thing in the end, as long as the product is good.

I really like the new packaging, a nice and square change from what we usually get.

The blade is removable, you can even put it on his back if you wish.

Same reason they called Hot rod Rodimus.

Hm, I've never noticed that before.
Well, this packaging sure is snazzy, really catches the eye. The giant character art on the card is a really nice touch, reminds me of the Beast War era cards.
I really, really want these. Now.

Octane just doesn't right without any mushroons in his vicinity though.

One thing about the name 'Tankor' - it's almost an anagram for Octane:

- Oktan... r

which makes me think, if they don't have the rights to 'Octane', couldn't they have just pimped up the spelling, to something like "Oktayn" or "Ocktain". I dunno if that's a better idea, but it's another option.

I like the packaging better than the classics packaging. I think it's some of the best packaging Transformers've ever had.

How about "Mega-Octane"? They at least had the rights to that during Universe.

Oh, and hearing that the blade is removable is awsome! Maybe the reason why I'm getting so pumped for Octane is because even though we knew he was coming, from a character perspective it's kinda surprising that he would get an update over say Blitzwing, but Blitz is getting an Animated version, so that's probably why.

Speaking of which, they didn't show Blitzwing off at Toyfair did they? Dang, I've been wanting to see what his figure looks like.

I think they didn't use Mega Octane because its the name of a completely different G1 character and so making a classic of mega octane wouldn't be right.

anyway i'm calling him Trucktor!

Mirage22 wrote:I thought Galvatron was supposed to be bad-ass. Why is he a deluxe?

The new Galvatron is going to be a badass with short man syndrome. Like one of those little yappy dogs with a massive aggression complex. I'm going to get him some tiny shades and white+black bandanna to complete the look.

It's good news that Octane will not be permanently attached to that blade, I think I'll keep it on his back. The packaging looks excellent! It's a shame I'll have to open it.
