When I go old school, it's usually with Bionic Commando, Casino Kid, any of the NES MegaMan titles, or sometimes even good ol' Super Mario Bros.

Those are all great games.
Casino Kid - Start 'em young, am I right?
The NES MegaMan games were so damn hard, I was never able to beat a single boss.

At least I kick ass on Duck Hunt! I better give my brother's Lethal Enforcers [SNES] a try, one of these days.

You bet (no pun intended) I love me some Casino Kid. One of my favorite video game moments is from that game. I had beaten all opponents and was finally facing the Casino King in a game of Poker. I was holding my own for a long time and then it happened, I was dealt a Royal Flush in spades! My brother and I both checked several times, to see that it was real and not four spades and a club, then I proceeded to clean the King out. A short time later he was broke, and I was the new Casino King!

Can't say I've ever played Hardcore Revolution, but I played WWF Attitude(same engine), and I didn't like it. From what I read, the two games are essentially the same, just different wrestlers. Bad psudo-sequal to what I felt was not that great of a game to begin with.

Anyway, I've been breaking out the old-school recently during the week for some reason, probably cause I'm not able to be home all that much on weekdays, and just want to jump into a game without too many cutscenes.

Well, last week I finally beat Cybernator, for the Super Nes, which I bought about a month ago. Awsome game, and it was actually suggested to me once by someone on Seibertron last year, so props to whomever ;)^ . If your a fan of Mech games, I highly recommend it. The games kinds short, bout an hour, but it's pretty challenging, and takes some strategy to beat. There are also some cool scenarios's in it, though I'll admit it feels like a Gundam or other mecha series rip-off sometimes. But seeing as how there aren't that many mecha games for the SNES in the U.S., it's awsome.

Also been playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters. I got it last year(a grail of sorts for me, cause I never played it as a kid), and it really is a serious fighter! It's not just some easy license schlock, the enemies take skill to defeat, and that's just on difficulty 3 out of 10(default). I had to put it on 0 to beat the Tournament mode, cause I'm not very good at it  .

I have Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PS1 and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on the DC, so I feel I'm covered when it comes to Street Fighter.

And like I said, it was a grail cause I never got play it when I was a kid, so that was a big draw for me when I bought it for $5 last year. I also wouldn't mind buying the Power Ranger SNES fighting game for that exact same reason, nastalgia.

Sorry, I just meant that the Turtles game is fun, but SF2 is the best SNES fighting game, at least in my opinion. :PEACE:

Hmm, I may still get Street Fighter II Turbo, if I find it for $5 or less at the Flea Market later this year(ah, hunting is half the fun). But according to the release dates on gamefaqs.com, Super Street Fighter was released after Turbo, so which is the best version?

It seems there were three different versions of SFII on the SNES, which is a bit much in my opinion. But it was Capcom's "revisionist" ideals, cause instead of releasing a brand new game, they tweak an old game. Think they might actally release SF IV this year(or so I've heard).

Hmm, and it also appears that only Street Fighter Alpha 2 was released on the SNES. I knew that, but it seems a bit odd that only that one was released, and not the first one. But seeing as how it was released at the tail end of '96, they probably just released slapped together port to make a quick buck. Would it even be worth my time to pick it up?

Think I'll go play some Alpha 3 now, cause my SF interest has been sparked up again.

If you find Alpha 3, it's going to be EXPENSIVE. Cartridge only goes for about 60 bucks in my area. Super Street Fighter II has more characters than SFII Turbo, including Cammy and Dee Jay.

Don't ya mean Alpha 2? 3 wasn't on the SNES, and I have it for the PS1.

And E-Bay says Alpha 2 doesn't go for that much, around $15 at the lowest, but that is a bit for a Super Nes game I suppose. I could have gotten it once from the rental store that was selling off there old games for $5, so maybe I passed on some gold :-? . I did manage to get Super Metroid with original box and poor condition instruction book though  .

D'OH! Yeah, I meant Alpha 2, sorry. I haven't found a good Alpha 2 on eBay yet, but I was able to get Super Metroid in box with all the inserts, manual, etc for about 30 Canadian.

Yeah, it would be great if they make an MMO or an brand new Syndicate Strategie RPG with the Unreal 3 Engine. 8)
Because I liked the world design, because it was in the Blade Runner style. And that great.

Speaking of Unreal and RPGs, I heard that Epic Games is teaming up with Enix. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I can't wait to find out!

My friend bough tan FC Twin last month(a perfectly legal Knock Off console that can play both NES and Super NES cartridges. The patent ran out on both systems, that's why it can be released, btw), so he decided to start buying up some cheap NES games. Well, he let me borrow a few of them. While three of them were pretty blah(Dynowarz, To The Earth, Ikari Warriors 2), he let me borrow one he had raved about forever...

Blaster Master.

And it does live up to the hype. You pilot a "jumping tank" arond levels, and you have to find your way to the boss, similar to Metroid. Unlike Metroid though, you can get out of your tank, and enter smaller areas where you control your person. These segments are top down Super C-esque levels. One button shoots, the other throws a powerful yet extremely short range grenade. It's also during these levels that you fight bosses, which are both cool and fun. After you beat a boss, you get an upgrade, like a more powerful weapon for your tank, or hovering for your tank. Definitely suggested.

However, there is a major flaw with the game: No saving OR Passwords, so it has to be beaten in one sitting. If only it had a password system, then it would be perfect. One other minor gripe: when in the top down segments, you can find upgrades to make your gun more powerful. But if you get hit, you lose one of the upgrades. :???: I don't get the correlation.

Oh, and tommorrow I'm gonna be kickin it with the original NES G.I. Joe game my bro won for me off E-Bay two weeks ago. Seeing a special on 1up.com about Joe games got my interest piqued in the game I barely remember from when I was a kid, and it did look pretty sweet for a licensed game. Plus, they said it was the best Joe game behind the Arcade game.

Blaster Master is amazing, but so damn hard. The Grenade trick comes in very handy (throw a 'nade during boss fights and pause the game for 30 seconds, resume and he will be dead. doesn't work on all Bosses, though).

I hear that the GI Joe games were well done in terms of Level Design. I haven't tried them yet, though. Have fun!

And what's wrong with Enix, Xion? I didn't say 'Epic bought them,' I said 'teaming up with.'

Had my Super Nes hooked up again last night, and I was looking in my box of games. I saw Actraiser. My bro got it for me for Christmas, and I had beaten it a couple months ago(in one sitting no less!). Despite that, I decided to boot it up again. Beat 5 of the six levels in a few hours, will probably beat the game again tonight. Actraiser is pure awsome. Part god game, part platformer. Truly one of the coolest early Super Nes games ever made.

On Sunday, my younger brother and I played through Game A of Gyromite for the NES. We don't have ROB (at least not yet) so my brother used controller 2 and I was on controller 1. We cleared all 40 phases!

Gyromite is an amazing puzzle game, and the music OWNS.

Nemesis Cyberplex, good to see another Dragon Warrior/Quest fan.

I also liked Mario Bros. ( the one that happens in the sewers ), Pac-Man, Ice Climber, Galaga, Metroid, Megaman's 1-3, Final Fantasy 1, and so on.

And with the topic of wrestling games, my favorite was WWF Royal Rumble for the SNES.

The lack of love for the Atari 2600 and Genesis is surprising. Recently, I've gone back and played Yar's Revenge (nothing to do with ST:TNG) Barnstorming and that craptastic A2600 remake they had for Pac-Man.

I don't know if I will ever get enough of the first four versions of Sonic.

NES: Rygar!!!

I also get a lot of mileage out of PC (and Mac) games like Crystal Caliburn, Escape Velocity and Myth 2.
