Barely surviving a massive Decepticon fleet operation led by mighty Scorponok against Autobot penitentiary Garrus-9, the semi-famous psychiatrist Rung, a naive young prison guard Streamlight and Omega Supreme - the last of Omega Guardians, make a daring escape with the supercomputer Aequitas pursued by Scorponok's forces. Only to find themselves - lost in space...

Lost in space – Omega Supreme

A large grey, orange and red spacecraft, roughly size of an aircraft carrier slid through a rift like opening in vast emptiness of space and time. Sparks of electricity adorned the damaged hull of the this living vessel, grievously damaged during its seemingly suicidal escape from the Decepticon fleet occupying Elba system. Power had to be conserved. The emergency klaxons and lights had died out a seemingly long time ago. So had the vessel's main engines. That though, had little to no effect on the staggering speed the vessel kept moving.

The weapons of the vastly more powerful enemy dreadnought had pierced the mighty Guardian's forwards shields just prior the transwarp rift had opened between the two ships and directed the main burst of the Semper Tyrannis' blast elsewhere – saving both Omega Supreme and his passengers from certain destruction. But for how long?

“DAMAGE SIGNIFICANT. LOSING POWER.”

“SHUTTING DOWN NON-CRITICAL SYSTEMS. REDIRECTING POWER TO TRANSWARP CORE.” The giant's voice boomed within his cargo banks as he sought to keep the two Autobots he had managed to offer a way out from Garrus-9 updated with their current predicament.

“NAVIGATION SYSTEM SUITE DAMAGED BY DECEPTICON ATTACK. GALAXY MAP FAILING IRREGULARLY. EMERGENCY JUMP END POINT MISCALCULATED.” Omega added, with unnatural uncertainty in his unyielding determination, “THIS IS NOT SOL-SYSTEM.”

“I – AM LOST.”

“ASSISTANCE. APPRECIATED.”

Rung slowly pushed himself up from the floor a low roan escaping as he heard a few joints pop…were they supposed to even do that? He shook the thought from his head as he placed one foot on the floor and rose up to a standing position.

He wobbled slightly as he began to take a look around.

His audios were ringing so the sound of the klaxons hadn’t reached him quite yet. The lack of lighting, however, did. Carefully, so as not to jar his still recalibrating equilibrium, Rung shuffled to a bench and opened up the cabinet. He riffled through a few containers before he found what he’d been hunting for.

A soft click and the surrounding area was bathed in a soft blue glow. Rung stood up and waved the glowing torch around in small arches trying to determine what needed attention first.

A low moan somewhere to his left caught Rung’s full attention. It was low but he’d heard it….thank Primus my hearing’s coming back. He cringed, at the same time, when the sound of the klaxons resonated in his head.

“Streamlight?” Rung waved the torch around until the blue hue fell on the splayed out form of the young guard. “Are you all right?”

The Psychoanalyst placed the torch down beside the flier, moved in behind his and slipped his hands under Streamlight’s arms. Rung tugged upward while Streamlight got his feet under him and finally stood, using the slightly smaller mech as a crutch.

“I’m okay….I think.” Streamlight said as he looked around the area. Rung, meanwhile was able to lean down and grab the torch. He pressed it into Streamlight’s hand before deposition the wobbly guard near the bench.

“Why’s it so loud?!” Streamlight brought his hand up to his audio in an attempt to drown out the growing volume of the emergency klaxons.

Rung made his way over to a terminal and brought up a damage report. From there he worked his way into the emergency systems and cut off the klaxons. There. Now at least they’d be able to think.
The slim orange mech looked over to Streamlight who was still trying to make sense out of just what was happening. Rung shook his head and looked back to the screen. “I’m going to try to…”

“DAMAGE SIGNIFICANT. LOSING POWER."

Both Rung and Streamlight looked around as Omega Supreme’s disembodied voice sounded throughout the cabin.

“SHUTTING DOWN NON-CRITICAL SYSTEMS. REDIRECTING POWER TO TRANSWARP CORE."

Rung’s fingers slipped over the keyboard as he brought up report after report. This was bad. Very bad. He looked up catching sight of Streamlight working his way over to his side. “What’s going on, doc?” Rung helped his lean against the terminal before he returned to his work. “Omega’s taken some damage, happened right before we jumped.” Rung explained.

“NAVIGATION SYSTEM SUITE DAMAGED BY DECEPTICON ATTACK. GALAXY MAP FAILING IRREGULARLY. EMERGENCY JUMP END POINT MISCALCULATED."

“That means….” Streamlight began.

“THIS IS NOT SOL-SYSTEM."

Rung looked at Streamlight….

“I – AM LOST."

“ASSISTANCE. APPRECIATED."

Streamlight was the first to look away, a reassuring smile working onto his face. “Sure thing, big guy.” He patted the wall beside him. “Just give us a few.” The smile vanished as he quickly looked down at the Psychoanalyst. “Okay, so what do we do?”

The light of the torch and the terminal mixed together throwing a sickly green halo around the entire area. Rung sighed heavily as he placed both hands beside the keyboard. “Without a fixed point to lock onto we’re not going anywhere.” He pointed to the star field outside. “We don’t even know where we are. Omega’s map is malfunctioning as is just about everything else.”

Streamlight looked from the terminal to the nearly dark room and then to the window. “He was taking us to the Sol System….” Rung nodded.

“Isn’t Prime in the Sol System?” Streamlight looked back at Rung.

“Isn’t Prime in the Sol System?" Streamlight looked back at Rung.

Before Rung could answer to Streamlight's question, the enormous guardian did, “YES.”

“OPTIMUS PRIME MUST KNOW.” The giant continued, “ELBA SYSTEM WAS BLOCKED OUT OF SUPERSTRING COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK BY THE INVADING DECEPTICON FLEET.”

“COULD NOT SEND A SIGNAL.” Omega stated stoically, “LAST RECORD OF OPTIMUS PRIME'S LOCATION – SOL.”

“YES."

Rung was prepared to respond to Streamlight’s query when he was beaten to the punch by the gargantuan Sentinel.

“OPTIMUS PRIME MUST KNOW." The giant continued, “ELBA SYSTEM WAS BLOCKED OUT OF SUPERSTRING COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK BY THE INVADING DECEPTICON FLEET."

Both Rung and Streamlight looked at one another, a dire expression plastered on both their faces.

“COULD NOT SEND A SIGNAL." Omega stated stoically, “LAST RECORD OF OPTIMUS PRIME'S LOCATION – SOL."

The slim orange psychiatrist let out a low sigh as he took a glance at the terminal he’d been stationed at. They needed to figure out just where they were. Once they had their location they could begin repairs and then be on their way. But without a functioning navigation system or engines they were stuck.

Streamlight already knew they weren’t going anywhere until they could get their location. He moved away from Rung and leaned back against the wall. His head lightly thumped on its cool surface. He offlined his optics for a moment and took in a deep breath before onlining them.

For a time he stared out of the far window at the star field surrounding them. And then his head slowly lifted from the wall as he gently pushed away, his optics focused on the window.

As he got closer Streamlight raised his hand and pointed to the glass pane. “The stars” he said quietly.

For his part Rung looked at the young guard with a surprised expression. ‘Streamlight?” The former guard looked back at the now confused doctor. “What about them?” Rung asked.

Streamlight made his way to Rung’s terminal and began manipulating the keyboard bringing up a vast image of a star field. He pointed to the screen and looked up at Rung. “This is the star field around Elba.” He zoomed in and gestured to one of the bright dots splattered over the screen. “And that’s Elba.”

Rung crossed his arms around his midsection. He rubbed his chinguard as he stared at the image. Streamlight continued. “If we expand the view of the Elba system far enough, and then superimpose an image of the star field we’re currently in we’ll know about how far we’ve traveled.”

Absorbing what Streamlight was saying, Rung lowered his hand and tilted his head slightly. “Once we know just how far we’ve traveled we can determine where we are and which direction we need to go.” He turned his attention to the former guard who smiled and nodded.

“And when we pinpoint where we are we’ll be able to figure out which way we need to go to get to the Sol System…and to Prime.” His smile widened while he watched Rung point to the image on the terminal.

“Alright. We know that Cybertron and Elba are located in what’s been referred to as the “Milky Way”, as is the Sol System.” The doctor punched in several commands expanding the view.

The screen’s appearance enlarged showing its contents in slightly more detail. “Here is where Cybertron and Elba are located.” Rung indicated a small spot. “Cybertron is approximately 20° from this collection of stars called Aquila in the Scutum –Centaurus arm of the Milky Way Galaxy.” “It’s probably safe to assume that we haven’t traveled too far from Elba and therefore we are still in the same Galaxy.”

Streamlight watched while Rung went to work rotating the image 180°. When he was satisfied that it was in the right location Rung looked over at the comrade. “The Sol System is located in the Orion-Cygnus arm of the Milky Way.”

Streamlight stared at the screen and nodded slowly.

“That’s approximately 70,000ly from Cybertron and Elba.” Rung said quietly.

The psychiatrist wasn’t so sure they could make such a journey. Not with Omega Supreme in such bad shape. Neither of them were engineers or mechanics so how in the world could they possibly get Omega fixed up and ready to travel.

“Then we’d better get started.” The former guard smiled broadly and patted Rung on the shoulder. The optimism oozing off Streamlight seemed to work its magic. With a smile Rung perked up and nodded in agreement. “Alright.” Rung looked down at his terminal and started by getting several images of the area they were currently in.

Streamlight stopped at another computer and sat down. He tapped the wall to his left and looked up. “You hear that Omega. We should be on our way in no time. Just hang in there a bit longer, big guy.”

Omega Supreme listened to Rung and Streamlight talk and weight their options and grew hopeful. The two had better grasp on their current where abouts than the ancient guardian had through his damaged sensors.

“You hear that Omega. We should be on our way in no time. Just hang in there a bit longer, big guy."

“THANK YOU FRIENDS.” Omega's voice boomed from his internal speakers.

“I AM ABLE.” He continued, “TO REROUTE ENOUGH POWER. FOR TWO MORE JUMPS.”

It was true. The damage he had sustained from the attack by the Semper Tyrannis had depleted his power reserves considerably and transwarp jumping was nowhere energy efficient way of travel. And right now? Omega Supreme was practically bleeding energon into the space. At least he had been able to isolate the leaking energon lines.

“YOU NEED TO. PLOT THE COURSE.” The giant added, “AND MANUALLY SET. THE COORDINATES INTO MY STAR MAP.”

There was an issue he felt necessary to address. While he had no desire to stress out his passengers more, this could not wait. They had to know the stakes.

“I FEAR. THAT WE WILL BE TRACKED.” Omega began with grave seriousness in his voice, “DURING OUR ESCAPE. I DETECTED. SWEEPS. THE ENEMY SHIP FIRING AT US. WAS IDENTIFIED. AS THE SEMPER TYRANNIS.”

“CONCLUSION. GARRUS-9. WAS ASSAULTED BY SCORPONOK's ARMADA. HE WILL FOLLOW.” The guardian finished his verdict.

“FRIENDS. YOU WILL HAVE TO. HURRY.”

“THANK YOU FRIENDS."

The disembodied of the omega sentinel reverberated through the cabin. Streamlight smiled broadly as he looked up and around the area. Rung nodded and set back to work.

“I AM ABLE." He continued, “TO REROUTE ENOUGH POWER. FOR TWO MORE JUMPS."

“That’s…that’s great!” Streamlight responded excitedly. Now all they had to do was find their intended location, or somewhere as close as possible, and jump.

Rung moved away from the terminal he’d been at and worked his way over to Streamlight’s side. He gently tapped the young mech’s shoulder drawing his attention. “If we can’t pinpoint our exact destination then we have got to get as close to it as we can.”

The flier was quiet for a moment before he nodded in understanding. “I’ve already brought up the star charts in the Sol System and located the planet Prime was supposed to be on. We’ll need to chart a course that free of obstacles.” Streamlight said his head shaking from side to side.

Rung leaned down and started to speak but he was quickly cut off by the concerned voice of Omega.

“YOU NEED TO. PLOT THE COURSE." The giant added, “AND MANUALLY SET. THE COORDINATES INTO MY STAR MAP."

“No need to tell us twice, big guy. We’re already on it.” The young guard reassured the sentinel…or at least he tried to.

“I FEAR. THAT WE WILL BE TRACKED." Omega began with grave seriousness in his voice, “DURING OUR ESCAPE. I DETECTED. SWEEPS. THE ENEMY SHIP FIRING AT US. WAS IDENTIFIED. AS THE SEMPER TYRANNIS."

The smile on Streamlight’s face faded as a sense of dread washed over him. Rung, for his part, remained calm. He patted his companion’s shoulder in order to reassure his, no doubt, uncertainties.

“CONCLUSION. GARRUS-9. WAS ASSAULTED BY SCORPONOK's ARMADA. HE WILL FOLLOW." The guardian finished his verdict.

The Semper Tyrannis. Scorponok’s flagship. So he was the one who attacked the prison. Rung thought for a moment before he stepped back to his own terminal. There would be no reason for him to come all this way…exhaust all of those resources form something as small as Aequitas. No, there was something else. But what…or who? He wasn't given anymore time to ponder when Omega spoke again.

“FRIENDS. YOU WILL HAVE TO. HURRY."

Rung turned his head up and then shifted his gaze back onto his screen. His fingers traced over the necessary keys until he had completed his task. With a smile set he sent the information he had gathered to Streamlight’s terminal. He quickly jogged to the guard’s side. “I was able to plot a course that takes us out of this system. You’ll need to plot the remaining course to the Sol System.”

“Way ahead of you, doc.” Streamlight hit the last key and smiled up at the skinny orange mech.
Rung patted Streamlight on the back and looked up into the room. “We’ve got the course plotted. The coordinates set. We’re ready when you are, Omega.”

“I was able to plot a course that takes us out of this system. You’ll need to plot the remaining course to the Sol System."
“Way ahead of you, doc." Streamlight hit the last key and smiled up at the skinny orange mech.
Rung patted Streamlight on the back and looked up into the room. “We’ve got the course plotted. The coordinates set. We’re ready when you are, Omega."

“THEN.” Omega Supreme's voice rumbled through his internal speaker system, “WE ARE READY.”

A massive spike of energy conserved into Omega Supreme's secondary emergency systems jolted into his transwarp drive, bringing the space bending engine back to life for a one more void transcending hyperspace jump.

“WARNING. HOLD ONTO SOMETHING,” the ancient guardian warned his two passengers as he began to accelerate, the energies from the transwarp drive sending ripples through his whole frame.

“NEXT STOP: SOL.”
