On the verge of selling most of my collection for 3RDP.

So this might sound insane to most of you but i would sell about 80 to 90% of my collection to buy not-transformers figures.

The fact is i have next to no interest in hasbro/takara products anymore there is only a couple every now and again that get me interested and after a couple of days looking and thinking about them i just simply loose the interest.

Last year when they mentioned they would be doing 40+? transformers i had high hopes for the generations line to be a big part of that , i know toy fair is still to reveal some stuff but some characters i would have been all over have all ready popped up in the FOC line or Prime line which tells me there won't be a classics version any time soon.

Now only a month in 2013 and there are just so many figures from not-transformers party's that are blowing my mind with bang on molds be it upgrades , deluxe voyager and especially combiners that have made me totally rethink what i find important to have in my or as my new collection.

I just feel i'm wasting money on hasbro products and i'm having to put up with the next best thing, instead of buying a bunch of transformers that just say represent there original look i can buy one figure at that cost and will be almost if not is the perfect representation of what i want and never regret the purchase.

The time and money put into getting what i have now doesn't bother me as i have enjoyed the hunt, the way i see it there just helping me get better things and probably getting rid of a lot of unwanted clutter when i go through them and decide who would get the boot.

So does this sound a bit too crazy or like a plan to revive the love of transformers?

Why not wait until after Toy Fair 2013 next weekend, and then deciding?

Either way, I'd like to second the question: What are you selling?

I've battled the boredom in a different way. The current waves of TF's are mildly interesting at best, either that, or the prices are retarded. Somtimes even both.

So I returned to GEEWUN and BAM! I've relit my own spark.

Hehe, that's what I did with Beast Wars when the Prime line proved to be a letdown (but now I've got almost all of them :P).

I can't stop collecting the MPs if Takara keeps doing what they're doing with them. I still like Generations OK (as long as they're the Takara versions and not Hasbro's).

I am buying a LOT more 3rd party stuff this year than I have in years past though and considering the year is just getting started, I think that means that they will be receiving the majority of my cash this year.

Also, to the OP: if you're selling a Botcon Vice Grip PLEASE PM me, I'll definitely make it worth your while :)!

I'm sort of in the same boat. I recently sold over half of my collection, which included pieces from all lines. I now have a lot more room and a lot more money. Too bad I'm planning to blow most of my cash on a Grand Maximus, but nonetheless, he will be more appreciated than the others were put together. This leaves me with about 30 Transformers from across all lines, and from now on I will be very, very picky. Until now I grabbed whatever caught my eye, but I agree, lately the quality has gone down big time. I will most likely turn my attention to 3rd party stuff along with the MP line, which hasn't impressed me until now, with the exception of Grimlock and Rodimus. But that Soundwave looks badass, and it looks like they're getting the cars right so far as well. Might get into collecting MP only. Also, Trailerforce is on its way.

You know that's a really good idea. I should sell the TF's i boxed up just the other day. Gets me money and gets em outta my house and my collection. I'm trimming down as well.
Maybe i'll post a list tonight.

I did the same thing, I had a huge collection, was collecting everything, and was unhappy, so I sold 90% of my collection. And what I have left are just my favorite molds and characters. (SO just G1,Classics/Generations, and a few Unicron trilogy figures). I am much happy with my smaller collection.

Glad to hear i'm not the only one who is thinking about going down this route.

To re-size my collection can only be a good thing i will finally be able to display what iv'e got instead of having to put most in storage which has always made me feel a bit wrong as a collector anyway :-? .

The cost of non-transformers is gonna help prioritize whats more important as my next figure and help me budget unlike going to the shops and being able to buy a wave for about the same price only to really want 1 or 2 or end up having nothing i want to buy and end up with a peg warmer for a fix and forget about it the next  .

I'm not gonna fully stop buying HasTak it's just they need to start pulling there finger out for neo G1 fans i like look of a FOC and Prime figures and have bought a couple here and there but can't see the majority staying, off the top of my head Prime AM Bulkhead AM Jet vehicon will make the short list from those lines.

As for what i'm going to be selling at the minute i'm just starting to go through classics stuff mainly voyagers but i have nothing in terms of a list yet.
