I'll have to take exception with several parts of your review.
Constant harping on size: He's small, we get it. All the others in that line seem be smaller than normal. I know you have Megatron from that same line. Does Prime not look like he is the same size or similar? If so then we can safely state it is the general line scale.
Same on "underwhelming", once you say that in the beginning of the review, try not to use it at every opportunity.
You seem to have a pre-existing bias towards the earlier incarnation of the figure. You state the size is "underwhelming" though the other deluxes so far in that line also share this trait.
"Blocky and bulky" look that you dislike, others find to be perfect for who is essentially a battle-hardened war hero. Personal opinion at work here, see note on re-design below.
On the "straight shoulders" issue, well, have you looked at G1 Prime recently? Pose him the same way and he will look stiff as well.
A note regarding the re-design: If you didn't like the original artwork/specs, you are unlikely to care much for the toy. That's not the fault of the toy, but of the design. The toy is quite game and design-accurate, impressively enough considering it's only a deluxe.
I'll wrap up by saying I enjoyed your reviews, but this one seemed quite skewed. I'm not saying judge the figures in a vacuum, but make sure the context you are using for comparisons is fair.
Final notes, once again YMMV, but this is what I look for in a Prime figure. Red barrel-chested torso with windshield. Red arms with silver pipes or stacks, Silver abdomen. Blue calves and head. This figure gets all that right. That personal checklist is why I preferred FE TFPrime Optimus to the 2nd edition, and why I never cared for G2 OP.
In any case, not trying to cause offence, but wanted to share some criticism. Take it as you will, and thanks for your time.
