Optimus had feathers!

Sorry if this has been covered, but when Ironhide hits Optimus and says "He pissed", Optimus transforms and has wings, almost like feathers! Any input on why they put that in briefly?

That was the first thing I noticed when he transformed on that scene. I think that was just done by the CG animators to make OP's transformation look awesome. It worked.

It's been bugging me to. I don't think it really added anything to the transformation, I think it's just a different way for all the stuff on his back to transform that we haven't seen until now.

I think it was to show how pissed off he was when he was transforming. Maybe he was so pissed he forgot where some parts went.

Yeah, they really did a good job with him being pissed off while transforming. It was much more jerky and violent than normally.
Apparently, while every character had one specific transformation scheme, the order in which certain parts moved was animated differently for every time they transformed. This is one of the more noticable variations. The steam he lets off after finishing (You lied to us *puff*) sells it.
