Regardless of my opinions concerning the movies, I am very happy for Mr. Cullen. How many other voice actors of any generation can say they would expect to have this honor extended to them? :APPLAUSE:

I once thought it would be a good idea for G1 Optimus to be president.
Voiced by Mr. Cullen of course.

i am happy for him and all and its cool to see a voice actor get some much deserved recognition this is kind of an insult to other voice actors who have done more than him over the years, what about Michael Bell & Frank Welker? Once again Optimus Prime gets the spotlight and everyone else just fades away. Also getting tired of people saying hes voiced prime for 30 years, i know most people are lazy & stupid but come on do a bit of research or even watch interviews with the guy cause hes corrected numerous people on that mistake. Yes hes been recognized most as optimus for the past 30 years but he hasnt actively been optimus for 30 years. But anyway congrats MR. Cullen you do deserve this & i hope this opens the door for other voice actors to join you.

Especially Frank Welker, considering the COLOSSAL amount of roles he's played outside of Transformers. He definitely needs some recognition!

The thing is, Peter Cullen isn't being recognized here for all of the regular voice work he's done over the years, as he's mainly being recognized for his voice role as one of the main stars in four blockbuster major motion picture films. That's what's key here. Hollywood seems to has a strong bias towards big films over smaller projects like children's television and such, meaning that no matter how much the likes of Frank Welker and Michael Bell have done on a small scale, and for how long they've done it, it'd take their starring in the lead roles of big successful theatrical films for them to get the recognition that Peter Cullen has just been given. It's sad, yes, and almost tragic, but seems to be the case.

Of course there is.

Optimus Prime existed before there was ever a voice. He exists in media where there is no sound - in comic books and toys. He also exists where someone else - very talented and worthy voice actors - voiced him. And he will exist long after any one actor who has ever voiced him has passed, in the same way Superman lives on beyond any one actor, and Bugs Bunny lives on beyond Mel Blanc. Which, of course, is their true legacy.

Acting like the day Peter Cullen inevitably dies is the day Transformers just completely stops (given the reception to Rodimus Prime, and the mediocre awareness of and reaction to other non-Optimus commanders)... well, that's just plain sad. You're actually advocating Hasbro shutter Transformers when one voice actor, who played him on and off (not to mention a ton of other roles), is no longer around. Nothing further can be done or enjoyed in the area of Optimii or Transformers without him living and voicing that single role?

What a horrible world you live in where the future of an entire franchise rests on one voice actor, and thus has a countdown timer hanging over it.

Whoa, way to blow it way out of proportion. Torneira in no way said they should 'shutter Transformers'. It's a little over-enthusiastic, but come on!

Oh, and those comic books? They kinda... were really, really REALLY bad.

Now let's give Peter Cullen his due, for Primus' sake!
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.
