Whoever said combiner tech is in existance already, yes it is, but Monstructor is the only combiner in existance as he was a failed experiment. I can't see Prime conducting combiner experiments himself, so the tech somehow needs to get into a con's hands.


I am also interested in people's theories concerning Thunderwing having a connection to Galvatron's master. Yes, he was ordered to retrieve him, but this does not mean there is a connection. There could be any number of reasons for it. Part of an experiment, a scheme to create chaos to destract those in the Live Universe perhaps?

On the Seacons idea, I agree that IDW will probably want a popular but underrepresented gestalt. Seeing as they have been going with lesser known/shown characters thus far. So fortunately--in my opinion--that means a respite from Devastator.

So Monstructor then is a failed combiner tech experiment for lack of a better phrase? Sorry if this is explained in the issue, I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN MINE IN THE MAIL BECAUSE THE POST OFFICE SUCKS! So in theory Devastator does exist someplace, but isn't 'perfected' enough to effectively use, right? Like Decepticon high command can't justify the risk to gains ration of deploying Devastator based on Monstructors' problems?

In DWs' Armada series, right towards the end, four Heralds of Unicron from alternate universes showed up, and I remember them being Galvatron, Thunderwing, Dirge and Bludgeon. We know in the IDWverse that Bludgeon is involved in the Thunderwing restoration project, while Galvatron and Thunderwing seem to be mindless engines for the most part. TWing is basically a destructive toy, Galvatron is sentient in terms of being conscious of his mission and his need to complete it. Perhaps we are still waiting on another Herald (Six Shot? Monstructor?) for the as of yet unnamed force of the Dead Universe to show up and Bludgeon is like the covert ops Herald. He's -- if this idea holds up at all-- the smartest, sentient one and is most actively working to acchieve the Thunderwing project. Didn't Furman say no Unicron for the time being? So whatever or whoever these guys are working for will be someone different and be tied to the Dead Universe.

Just ideas, I don't know.

Furman has said that Unicron is spending his time in retirement from the IDW comics, so Nova Prime being his acolyte is very unlikely for the time being. (In the future though, who knows?)

We know for certain (thanks to the Megatron Origins Series) that the Constructicons are alive and kicking as their individual components. It will be interesting to see what has changed from Origins to Devastation though.

I'd say for now that combiner tech is not in the Decepticons hands. Yet.

Constructicons are in Origins? Oh I can't wait for the TPB of that.

Based on comments made, I would say that while the teams are in exsistance in their individual forms, no combined robot exists. No Menasor, no Devastator, no Bruticus, no Predaking, no combined robots at all. I wish he did exist somewhere, just too dangerous to use, but that doesn't sound very likely. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'm trying to limit what I say, but it's made clear that there are no other combined robots anywhere.

theres only one thing i can say after reading this...WHERE IS OUR NOVA PRIME FIGURE? that is all.

I finally got a copy of this. Makes me happy to see that everything isn't peachy-keen as I thought it would be.

As for the combiner theory. I'm wondering whose going to wake up Shockwave to upgrade the constructicon team so the bots can escavate the Dinobots.

I dunno guys, the art was great but the story left too many holes for me. The most obvious being that if Nova Prime was a keeper of the Matrix, and the whereabouts of ARK 1 were never determined, how did Sentinal Prime get the Matrix of Leadership then?

How did Monstructor break out of "prison"?

I agree sort of. Too many times I read these topics and things seem so clear to everyone else, but sometimes I guess I get lost. Think I understood this better before I read the comic.....

As far as Nova Prime and the Matrix go, it could be possible that the Matrix is either introduced after the ARK1 sails, or is just replaced by another 'Matrix" when Nova fails to return. In the first instance, it might mean that other TFs are already aware of the Dead Universe and thus the Matrix is created to 'light the darkest hour' and combat whatever the threat of the DU is. That would explain why only the greatest and the chosen are afforded the responsibility of guarding it. Prime says he's basically a figurehead, so why in reality would a figurehead be incharge of something so important?Omega says he disagreed with Nova in terms of 'expansion' so maybe Omega knew that the DU held......

Monstructor maybe was let out of his prison, not that he escaped.....

Are all of the IDW books one continuity? I know the Spotlights have implications on the ongoing books like Escalation, and that's Devastation is supposed to be even more influenced by them and Stormbringer, and I've not yet read any of the Megatron Origins, but maybe there's a connection between Nova and Megatron......

I think IDW G1 is all one continuity, weather beast wars is included or not I my self don't know.

I'm thinking NovaPrime either left the matrix... wait... does Prime actually have the Matrix right now? I got the impression in the ongoing that he does not.

Does Prime only carry the matrix flame while on Cybertron? OmegaSupreme is definitly not on Cybertron during the spotlight so if Prime specifcally holds the Matrix durign that time... Kinda means Nove didn't take it with him.

Perhaps in the event he didn't come back.

Anything IDW has released (other than Evolutions, Beast Wars and reprints) are all part of the same Universe and thus are all related and inter-tied to one another.

Events that occur in the Spotlights have direct (and indirect) consequences on the ongoing -tion story (Infiltration, Escalation, Devastation). The Stormbringer event also has affected the -tion storyline as well.

It's all one huge tied-in Universe that has been very well thought out and planned far in advance.
