Otakon 2012
Posted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 9:21 pmOk, while not exactly a Transformers topic, there are some strong ties between Transformers and anime, seeing as they both came from Japan, and there is some crossover with the Japanese produced Transformers cartoons and toys from other lines like Robotech being used for Transformers.
Anyway, since so far I have not been able to hit a Transformers convention, due to both location and timing, I decided to do the next best thing and hit Otakon 2012 this weekend. It will be my first time attending any convention of this nature. I've heard good things about it, and like anime enough to find it interesting even if there isn't much of a Transformers related presence there, if there is one at all.
So just wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else was considering going. I live in the Baltimore-Washington area, and will probably head over after work Friday to register, and then come back Saturday and Sunday morning and stay as long as I can each day.
If you'll be going, drop me a line and I'll shoot you my phone number. I won't have access to email at the convention as I'm using an old school phone, not a smart phone, but up until 5 p.m. eastern time Friday, and late Friday and Saturday night, I will be able to check private messages. Saturday evening I'm hoping to meet up with a coworker who's going, and maybe some people from various local meetup groups and such. Would be good to meet as many fellow fans as possible!
