Padre's Humble Collection

I've been a life long fan of the transformers, having either watched the cartoons and live action movies to playing with and spending unholy amounts of money to get some figures. But it is an affliction I am proud to have. But it wasn't until 2001 that I became a collector. It was a purely an accident to make it so bad. I was just lurking the internet when I came across the news that a Unicron figure would be released. Anybody that watched any episode of the G1 from the movie on knows that if you ever wanted to see 1 character brought to life in the form of plastic crack, it was Unicron! Little did I know that would polinate the seed that had been lying dormant with in me since 1984. While anxiously awaiting the release of the figure I became more watchful of the toy isle in every store I entered. I began to think, "I can't just have Unicron standing alone, he needs company. So there I bought leader class Armada Optimus to start, and from then on the rest is history!

I've TRANSFORMED my collection from a coffe table display of about 5 figures in 2001, to a few 6 foot tall dust hoarding book shelves, to now several glass display cases! (thanks to a 12/29/09 Ikea sale).

That's a very cool collection. I'm extremely envious of your Ikea display cases. I can't wait to see my collection on display one day. It's unfortunately all stored away in rubbermaid tubs, easily accessible for me to use for my galleries. I like how you've got some of them grouped by characters (kind of like how Paul has his) as well as by series (which is how I used to have mine when I had a collection on display). Thanks for sharing with us!

Thank you so much for commenting! I try my best to keep them grouped by series, but as the collection grows and room runs out, I turns into "close enough"!

I love looking at people's collections. It's always interesting to see how everyone arranges their pieces. Makes me wish I had mine out on display.

One day I'll take some video of my basement for you guys to see. It's a disaster right now because of how many galleries I'm in the middle of that I haven't had a chance to finish but hopefully one day soon I'll be able to get it organized well enough so that I can show you guys what owning a collection like this looks like when it's all stashed away.

Looking good.

I would love glass display cases like that, but I think the cost would kill me lol

Have plans for a custom made shelving/cabinet in my display room when I get some real free time to build it one day

Yes, that is a custom by a guy Matticus Prime! The other ROTF is a custom by PorkChopKB. (even though you didn't ask)

Now that's an impressive collection, kudos to you. I don't have the room for those glass display cases that's how a collection should be displayed.

It's funny that you replied, just as I was updating my pics. I got so many new little ods and ends I just did a "re-shoot" of my display. Also sometime today I think I'm gonna post some "retro" pics of my collection before I sold off some of my G1 stuff.
