Who the hell still says "epic fail" in 2012?

Tons of people. Like, almost the entire internet.

Anyways, I'm with those who think the production company and execs got spooked. They would be competing with Spider-Man and many other movies (not sure if Dark Knight Rises would have been close enough to be considered competition). Nothing a brand like G.I.Joe could compete with.

Wanna save GI Joe? Try taking a page out of the Avengers/Marvel films.

Picture this: After the credits, have the Secretary of Defense call Duke to a private meeting and tell him they are merging the Joes with another special operations task force. And then the SoD hands Duke a folder with the NEST logo on the cover and have Lennox and Epps walk out of the shadows and say "Yo Joe!"

Easy scene to produce and add on prior to the new March release, finally an excuse for the Joe/TF crossover toyline everyone wants to see and sets up an enemy for the next TF film. And it will let GI Joe ride the coattails of one of Hollywood's biggest franchises to a new era of success.

Win. Win. Win. Win.

I wouldn't mind seeing that.. Joes and transformers working together the entire movie, which would hopefully mean more robot screen time.

it's a great idea~! .. which is why you can't work for hasbro, they don't allow such things over there.

.. for those of you wining that "this isn't transformers news" .. well, don't open the page, don't read the story, don't comment in the thread, simple.

A TF/Joe crossover film would make sense. So it is unlikely.

As for this not being Transformers news, it's not, and I'm not "wining" anything. Just noting a particular discrepancy in this news article not being about the Transformers brand, which is what this website is about, surely?

OMEGA SAD FACE. ._________.
In the glorious name of Cobra, WHYYYYY?! Especially mere weeks away from release ... Blarg...
I know a lot of people didn't like the first one, but I liked it for what it was, it was a stand alone continuity of its own with a callback or two to the source material, and a fun yet cheesy action flick. Judging by the trailer, and the fact that they got a great looking accurate uniform for the esteemed Cobra Commander, plus all the other stuff that sounded great, I REALLY wanted to see this. :(

Now this year won't go fast enough for me. Yes, I am also a Joe fan, which I'm sure is blatantly obvious about now (couldn't you tell? :P ). By golly when it's released, I WILL see it no questions asked! For the glory of COOOOOOOOBBBRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
:COBRA:

Curiouser and curiouser.

If it was about making more money, you think they might try a stint where they release it now, and the 3D one later down the road. This says they aren't that confident in it, which is reasonable given people may have reserves about seeing the sequel.

But WHY? I still have no idea and must fall back to what others are saying about summer blockbusters this year. That's my only guess. They hope that this excuse will save it, by pushing it back is my ONLY explanation. You don't just willy-nilly push back a date and throw in 3D this late. Someone is very scared and thinks that it will actually make more money, given a new date, and a small new feature. Perhaps it's a marketing stunt to help generate hype. I can see all this, but it remains a blurry mess underwater from our eyes. Well, nothing to do now but wait....

your kidding me right, they're pushing back the movie to do half assed 3d? There has to be more to this cause theyre going to lose money doing this, with no movie to promote the toys are not going to sell well and by the time the movie comes out the toyline will be done. Unless they delay the toys too but then they lose money from that cause there arent any gijoe stuff out right now. It has to be a competition thing just look at whats out now and whats coming out in the next few months, gijoe probably wouldnt last long. Oh well still got Prometheus & expendables 2, could always see avengers again as well. Just hope this doenst kill the franchise, its already on thin ice.

So, they take a movie that's about to come out, then push the release date forward almost a freaking year to add some poopy 3D!!!??? What where they thinking!!!??? This isn't even real 3D, it's that post conversion crap that people are going to complain about anyway!!! It's not worth it AT ALL. They just signed this movie's death warrant.

I can never quite understand why people continue to go see 3D movies. If the 3D where like the kind you get at the Universal rides, that would be great. But every 3D movie is really just a waste of money. You pay more only to have the annoyance of putting glasses on for something you can barely call 3D. And I and don't know about anyone else, but my perscription glasses bug the crap out of me enough. The last thing I want is to put an extra pair on top.

I hate Paramount for this. They've just guaranteed that a movie I was eager to see is now a movie I won't be able to see until it's released on disk.

I can't watch 3D movies, and when a movie is released in 3D it is done in such a way that it's impossible to find/get to a non-3D showing these days. I wish they just stop making these goddamned 3D movies.

for those complaining about it not being tf related agreed. having said that ill say this that is the purpose of a GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM. but i do agree front paging it is a bit much.

as far as the delay its a huuuuggeee mistake since hasbro will be sitting on warehouses of figures that most retailers will definitely pass on now.
and the 3d conversion is a money grab pure and simple 17 dollars as opposed to 10 for the same ticket.

well at least it shows hasbro is consistent in that they cancel stuff before its released
well hopefully well get an "ASIA EXCLUSIVE" for all the retaliation merchandise for a big fat markup :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE: way to go hasbro way to go.

Pushing it back that far? After the marketing and merchandising is already going? Sheesh, might as well just release it direct to DVD because they just killed this thing.

Shame, looked like it might actually be good, unlike that first piece of crap.

Dang. :-( A whole year for 3-D? Man, does that mean it'll be one of those deals where it's practically 3-D or nothin? I don't mind too much, since ticket prices around here are about $5.50 normal and $7.50 or $8.50 3-D(can't remember which), but that extra dimension doesn't do much for me.

Well that's one more movie on the list for next year. And I guess there will be less competition in March for the film, but it still seems, I don't know, stupid.

Paramount wasn't confident in the first Joe either, they didn't do any press screenings in LA prior to release. Probably not anywhere else either.

This delay is kind of bizarre since the director for Joe 2 was picked because he had experience shooting in 3D with the Step Up movie and/or Justin Bieber film. Thus, one would think the 3D plans, whether it be shot in 3D or postconverted, would be set. Par must be afraid of the competition. This doesn't make sense, but when does Paramount ever make sense? Brad Grey and Brian Goldner, I hope you're reading.

That's so stupid. Half the time, 3D doesn't even enhance the movie in any way.

This has caused quite an uproar all over the net, and more importantly stores that have preordered move mechandise that has been pushed back for 9 months. I have a strong feeling that we could see this "postone" reversed for that reason alone.

That won't happen. Apparently the movie wasn't testing well and they're shooting new scenes; namely working a way in that Duke survives the desert ambush.

It's not like it's going to be a good movie or anything. Also you guys are correct about 3D. Rarely does it accualty look good. Dark of the Moon was a rip off in 3D. I saw it twice in the theature once in 3D and once in 2D and it was almost 100% the same.

It's not a spoiler, it's in the trailers and not a major part to the story, or at least it was.
