Although combat was present and gradually smothering the refinery like a developing plasma storm threatening to snatch away Kaon's airspace, Blades still found it difficult to enjoy himself. Groove's response had instigated the destruction of his delight as it slowly morphed into anger. Even though violence greeted his optics wherever they landed, it wasn't enough to disrupt the shift in his temperament. Sometimes Groove got to Blades more than he should have.

“He does these terrible things all because he wants to avoid punishment?” He shook his helm firmly. “No. Breakdown is a Stunticon, the worst kind of 'Con. Not even the rest of those losers like them. And out of all the 'Cons, you could never change a Stunticon. Fact.”

Blades elected to leave it at that, regardless of the severity of a possible response. There was too much fighting happening to be wasting time arguing. At any rate, and if necessary, he could always have words with Groove later, after they had completed their mission, hopefully eliminating a few Decepticons in the process. Yes. Fight now, talk later.

And that was precisely the course of action that compelled them to re-enter the battle.

No sooner had Blades finished replying to Groove that his team-mate received a transmission from Saferoute requesting immediate support. Urgency resided in Groove's tone, took over his expression. This was Blades' moment to finally get into the thick of things.

He smirked at Groove. “Say no more. I'm on my way.”

Before he transformed to offer his assistance to Saferoute Blades stood over Breakdown. He neither squatted down in front of the Stunticon nor lowered his gaze any more than required to address him. It could not have been deemed intelligent to squander precious time and energy on such a useless heap of spare parts.

“It's your luck solar cycle, you little piece of slag. Instead of me ripping out your optics and forcing you to eat them, I have to be elsewhere scrapping one of your buddies. But we will catch up soon. Real soon.”

Having said that, Blades transformed, climbing high into the sky. Saferoute needed him and he was going to make certain he would reach her before anything disastrous would transpire.

Road 45: Approaching Refinery

"Yeah yeah." Vortex responded briskly as he rose in altitude. His sensors immediately slaved the rest of the long range weaponry of the other Combaticons to them. He activated his ECM jamming arrays and began shrouding himself in a field of static so that Autobot Radar nor Earth Radar could detect his presence.

Finally he advanced to the extreme range of the sensors and allowed them to gather resolution as he approached the battlefield with caution. Why fly head long into a battle without a little flashy announcement from the big guns before hand? He mused to himself as he rose over the flat hazed surface of the vast fallow Kansas plains.

"As you desire Brawl. Sensors are at maximum efficiency." He laced his communique with a slight level of sarcasm, as he was not overly fond of playing spotter for the other members of the team. After all to him that job was more along Blast-Off's role on the battlefield than his own. Still he had been given the task and he would handle it with aplomb and take his shots where he could.

Once he was certain the whole of the refinery area and its surrounding outskirts had been encompassed by his sensor field, Vortex stopped and entered hover mode. Now he was a stationary picket, affording himself and his teammates the advantage of stable readings and tagging of possible targets. "Vortex to Onslaught and Brawl. Targets acquired. Do try and leave a few of those Autobot scrap piles alive. I would so like to have a bit of fun on my own terms."

All around, Onslaught's olfactory sensors were practically on overload. This area was just ripe with fuels in various stages of refinement. Had one of the Predacons been here, he suspected they might have overloaded that especially keen sense. The native life on this planet was something of a major inconvenience, but the natural petrol aromas this planet produced were almost as satisfying as one would have expected back at Maccadam's.

>>"Vortex to Onslaught and Brawl. Targets acquired. Do try and leave a few of those Autobot scrap piles alive. I would so like to have a bit of fun on my own terms,"<< came Vortex's transmission over Onslaught's internal systems. As various, more precise signal locks registered within the Combaticon Commander's processors, he also engaged his transformation sequence. The alt mode he had chosen would have its uses, undoubtedly, in the coming orns. But not in a location such as this. The word overkill came to mind.

Walking forward, Onslaught noticed the fallen form of Wildrider. Onslaught casually stepped past him. The Stunticon, particularly that little twisted glitch, was of little concern to the Combaticon at this moment. Some of the Autobot signals also appeared to be in retreat.

>>"Motormaster, this is Combaticon Commander Onslaught. My unit is present and providing reinforcements. I detect retreating Autobot signals, however..."<<

The sounds of energy weapons fire drowned out the Combaticon momentarily.

>>"...the battle is clearly not yet over. Have you at least got what you came for?"<<

Onslaught's sonic stun gun was at the ready, but he had found little opportunity thus far to use it, unless it was going to be to incapacitate one of their own. Elsewhere, Onslaught heard what had to have been a Decepticon screaming about turning an Autobot in to a pin cushion. That sounded promising.
___

The sweet, sweet oblivion of stasis lock. It had been taunting Wildrider for a breem or so now. But it, like so many things, had remained frustratingly just out of his grasp.

Pushing himself up to his knee joints, the Stunticon could feel the burning and surging where he had taken one hit or another, be it from an energy shot or a closed fist. Ahead, he saw....wait a slaggin' sec, Onslaught? Combaticons here?! Where the slag had they been?!

"Hey! Little help here! Slaggin' glitched jeez!"

The stuffy Combaticon simply turned back around to look at him for a moment, before bringing one digit up to the edge of his faceplate. Wait...wha? Oh no....no....he did not just get shushed.

Glitch.

Hot Spot frowned as Motormaster shrugged off the fairly minor explosion from the fuel tank. While it had failed to do much damage, it had at least gotten the Decepticon moving. Unfortunately he was still using the Autobot medic as a living shield as he charged back at him. Under the best of circumstances Hot Spot would avoid colliding with Motormaster. With him using Axle as a shield a collision was completely out of the question.

Fortunately for the Protectobot leader Motormaster was considerably taller then his Autobot hostage. Using him as a shield meant he lifted Axle completely off the ground, meaning his feet and lower legs were uncovered. It was really the ideal place to attack, but it was his only option without doing further damage to Axle. As the two transformers drew closer Hot Spot dove at Motormaster’s legs. With him running full tilt he hoped that his impact would trip up the Stunticon. With any luck maybe he could do a little damage to his legs or grab a hold of Axle. He wasn’t counting on it, but he could certainly hope.

Those slagging reinforcements couldn’t get to the battle soon enough…

>>"I don't give a slag about the meatsacks moron! Get back here before the Autobots gang up on you!"<<

Motormaster roared his response to Runabout into his communicator. It was far too clear to him that the Autobots would try to rescue the humans with all their vigor now but if Runabout was foolish enough to get separated and ganged up on, then so be it. A familiar rush grew within the Stunticon as the distance between him and Hot Spot decreased astrosecond by astrosecond. This was his game, collisions - head on. Only three Autobots had ever survived a collision with him and walked away victorious. Two of them had been Primes and the third - it had not even been a proper game of chicken as the slagger had smashed into him from his flank. Then again, this was not even going to be a proper challenge. Neither Motormaster or Hot Spot could gain enough running speed to even challenge Motormaster's legendary durability. The notorious Stunticon commander could smash through a 20-foot block of concrete at his vehicle mode's top speed. A collision with Hot Spot in robot form wouldn't be even close his limits. Motormaster was realistic enough to understand that the incoming collision would not directly cause Hot Spot any worthwhile damage either. However, Axle was completely different kind of case.

A wicked smile on his face, Motormaster prepared for the collision, breaking his eye contact with Hot Spot by placing Axle in front of him in a manner that would make the unconscious Autobot medic take the brunt of collision forces between the two massive Transformers. Only the collision never happened. At least in a way Motormaster had expected.

Hot Spot had taken a dive at Motormaster's legs. Given the size and mass of the two, the massive force impacting Motormaster below his center of weight made the large Stunticon fall forward with no chance of being able fix his footing to avoid toppling over. Following his instincts honed by thousands of battles, Motormaster attempted to turn the fall into a roll, however that was far easier said than done given his speed and how he had Axle attached to his left arm. He could feel Axle's frame rattling and twisting under his weight as the Autobot met the ground before Motormaster himself. But where Motormaster expected the roll to take place, the momentum change caused by Axle hitting the ground made the Stunticon fall on his back hard and lose his grip on Axle's spine.

"Slaggin'..."

Hadn't the collision gone wrong been enough of a distraction, his communications unit began receiving incoming transmission from a Decepticon that was supposed to be in the other end of the galaxy as far as he knew. Onslaught. What the slag the Combaticons were doing here? Before Motormaster could do anything more than recognizing who was trying to establish communications with him, he could feel someone pulling Axle off him with force that could mean only the Protectobot commander. And while his hand was still inside Axle, there just wasn't anything else than few loose cables for Motormaster to hold on to.

The swishing sound of rotors, rapid yet rhythmic, saturated the air as Blades sliced through the sky with great speed, high above the refinery. Naturally he searched the ground for his comrades, a duty he had been performing ever since he first became a Protectobot. There were certain individuals who would benefit from his aid, but unfortunately that could not be evenly distributed to everyone. Saferoute was the Autobot he endeavoured to support and that was precisely what he was going to accomplish.

As if on cue, Blades sighted two vehicles thundering down a vacant stretch of road, a black and red muscle car slowly stripping away the distance between it and a yellow bus. The identities of the Transformers materialised instantly within Blades' memory banks: Saferoute and Runabout. Given Runabout's psychotic proclivities to annihilate objects and mechanoids in equal measure, Saferoute's functioning was far from being considered secure. Especially when this filthy Decepticon was obsessed with all matters pertaining to devastation.

Blades had already envisioned how the scenario would unfold. It pained him greatly to act in such a cowardly fashion but it was necessary. Saferoute's survival would hinge on it, despite the peril associated with the manoeuvre. He prayed the rocket bestowed mercy on Runabout as he desired to finish the job personally.

Blades opened a comm-channel to Saferoute. >>Saferoute, this is Blades. I can see you right now and I can see that Runabout's hot on your trail.”<< He paused for a moment. >>”Look, what I'm about to do will be dangerous, but I'm confident you and your crew will be okay. I'm gonna fire a rocket at that little glitch that'll hopefully blow him away. You just keep on doing what you're doing, all right?”<<

Focusing, Blades ended the transmission. Every astrosecond spent continuing explaining his soon-to-be actions gifted Runabout with an ever-increasing opportunity to mollify the swelling of his twisted inclinations. And that was not going to happen, not while Blades had been tasked with the protection of a fellow Autobot.

He slightly veered to the left, capturing Runabout's entire alternate mode in his vision. The smart rocket inhabiting its launcher had just completed recording the Battlecharger's form, a digital image of him now present in its memory. All that was left to do was unleash it.

“This is my gift to you, you afthole,” Blades whispered, the launcher ejecting the rocket as it hurled towards Runabout.

Once Hex had landed on the roof of the former racer, a devious smile spread wide across his face. The thought of being so close to the mech who he beat to near death was somewhat intoxicating. Hex was nearly salivating before he even realized that Drag Strip had even spoken anything. The youngster perked up when the Stunticon mentioned that his kind was built for crashing. Cursing under his breath, Hex quickly let go, but he was still propelled through the wall that Drag Strip had breached.

The silver mech rolled along the ground until he finally came to a stop next to a pile of debris that had come down during the initial collision. Hex let out a groan as he laid his palms down on the dirt covered floor and lifted his upper body. The plume of dust that had accumulated from the initial and the post breaches still hung in the air as Hex slowly rose back to his feet.

As he stood up to his full height he heard an audible grinding of gears. Hex winced slightly at the sound, but the pain was more jarring to him. He placed his left hand on his knee joint and gently squeezed. Perfect.

He quickly looked toward the second hole in the wall and began to make his way over to it so he could make sure Drag Strip wasn’t making a move to reenter the building. Upon inspection the Stunticon was nowhere in sight. Hex quickly transformed to his alt mode, as quickly as a bum knee would allow, and sped out of the building in search for the yellow menace.

Drag Strip was relieved when he felt the weight of Hex disappear off of his roof as the yellow Stunticon smashed through one side of the building and out the other. The Dodge Viper immediately slowed down as he drove across to a large pile of rubble nearby. Pulling around the opposite side of the debris, Drag stopped to allow his engines to cool down, his internal fans working overtime as steam rose from under his hood. Thankfully, he had avoided total shutdown, but it had all taken a toll on his internal systems nevertheless. Therefore, returning to robot mode was his only real option now. Otherwise, he would quickly find himself in the same dire situation once more.

Once his servos and gears had finished realigning, Drag Strip stood and carefully peered around the side of the debris mound he was using for cover. Looking across the open area, he could easily see the hole in the building he had just smashed his way through. A shadowy figure then appeared within the dust that hung in the air around the jagged opening, forcing the former racer to quickly pull his head back behind cover to avoid being seen. Leaning his back against the pile of rubble, Drag brought up his gravito-gun and inspected it to make sure it was fully charged. This confrontation was not over yet, not until one of them was a pile of scrap in the center of this refinery.

And it won’t be me this time, that’s for sure, the yellow Stunticon thought as he slowly inched part of himself around the edge of the debris pile once more and took careful aim with his weapon. A few astroseconds passed before the silver mech finally emerged from the building in his Chrysler ME 412 alt mode, racing out into the open yard where he would be an easy target. Foolish Auto-brat. Drag Strip chuckled as he fired several blasts from his gravito-gun directly at Hex, sending a couple of shots high in the hopes of catching the crazy Autobot mid-air if he tried one of his elaborate aerial leaps or somersaults again.

OOC - Wildrider's headed over to Trickster, so I'm filling in Dead End until he finds a permanent player home.

Black smokey fumes were starting to cover Dead End like a fine grit. The more he attempted to wipe some of it away, the more the Primus-forsaken stuff seemed to accumulate on his person. He hoped Motormaster was happy now. He hoped the mighty Decepticon empire had managed to successfully complete its piddly little fuel-raid. All so they could enjoy...what? Maybe one good guzzle of actual energon before some pig like Octane spirited all of it away?

If they were lucky.

Luck. Bah.

Dead End relied on luck about as much as he relied on his teammates.

As he stalked his way further inward, a fresh explosion from somewhere nearby kicked up just about every imaginable piece of grit and grime, spraying the morose Stunticon from cranium to foot.

"Just...lovely."

El Dorado, Kansas- Frontier Refinery- A Battle Run Amuck

Sprints couldn't help grinning as his foe rolled aside when he yanked on his wrist. That grin disappeared, however, when his launched fist sailed into thin air. Slag it! Runamuck had rolled with the pull.

Sprints himself rolled onto his side to maintain optical perception of his enemy just in time to receive a few shots to the chest and shoulders. His already damaged shoulders shot through with pain, and his chest plating immediately took damage. Sprints bit back a shout of pain, not wanting to give Runamuck the satisfaction, but his optics wavered and even offlined for a moment.

During that time, he caught an incoming transmission from Saferoute to all the Autobots. Apparently one of the 'Cons was on her tail.

Frag. This isn't at all how we wanted, or how I expected. Pound some cranials, maybe cause a stasis or two, great. Rescue the earthlings, fine. But this...

Sprints reviewed the situation as his optics onlined. Axle was out. Wildrider hopefully was, too, but that was one current combatant still. Runamuck was also still up and fighting... And now he's trying to stab me.

Sprints shouted, a furious cry that served as an outlet for his pain, frustration, anger, everything. He didn't have enough outlets for his emotions, he knew. His main two were speed and fighting. Time for that.

He rolled as he shouted, escaping a fate as a 'Botkebab by mere inches. Hoping the power behind that thrust combined with how deep in the ground the spike must have gone would hold Runamuck at bay for a moment, Sprints planted his palms on the ground and shoved himself to his feet, one leg scything out to trip Runamuck as he did so. Spinning, he unleashed all the stops, both guns blazing as his optics glared with equal fire.

Road Outside El Dorado Oil Refinery

Runamuck thundered down the highway, closing the gap between himself and the Autobot bus. It was one thing that he was made a fool of back at the refinery by being thrown into an oil drum stack, but it was one thing to try and outrun the battlecharger, especially when it involved straight roads and heavy traffic going in the other direction. The battlecharger had fully switched into full charge mode as he thundered through the traffic, crunching and crashing through civilian and government vehicles were victim to his whirling, tumbling multi-lane terror as he halved transit-vans and SUV's with indescriminate rage as he raged after the Autobot Bus. It was only Motormaster's incoming transmission that stopped him in his tracks.

He braked that hard that any normal set of tyres would have burned and burst, but these were Cybertronian Radial 4.0's mounted on dura-alloy 22" rims - Runabout, and Runamuck, considered them his pride and joy, and he turned sharply as a grey and silver Chrysler SUV came cranking down into his path. It was mercilessly cut in half as Runabout powerslid back around to head back to the refinery. The SUV went up in a ball of fire as Runabout sat and had his engine idle as he spoke back to Motormaster.

>"grugh.. oh ok.. I'm heading back....I hope there are autobots to crush..."<

He fired up his engine again as his rear wheels spun out, smoke filling up behind him as his backend fishtailed before hurtling off down the highway again. It was smooth sailing for a while until his warning system went off. It made Runabout start to question what was happening. Well it was too late for questioning as the explosion erupted right below him, hauling his frame up from the ground, his wheels starting to spin in a frenzy as they lost grip from the tarmac. The rocket had impacted into the ground, ripping chunks of concrete, tar, sand and rock and scattering them all over the highway. Several human cars were hit by the falling debris as Runabout careered outof control, rolling spining and finally sliding a mile and a half down the freeway on his roof, a trail of sparks flying as his engine hit the high revs.

"Slaggin-no-good-mother-glitchin-diode-blowin....HE FRAGGIN SHOT ME!!!" Runabout roared in suprise, shock and anger to no one in particular as he came to a stop, shunting several abandoned cars that haphazardly blocked the highway back to the Oil Refinery.

Runabout opened a channel to Runamuck and a wide comm broadcast to all other available Decepticons.

>"H..Hey Runamuck...he shot at me.. he fragging shot at me!"< The black and red battlecharger whimpered to his white and silver compatriot

>"Who shot at you?"< the reply came back

>"Blades!..That rotor loving lugnut shot a damned missile at me!"< Runabout replied, another whimper of 'its not fair' in his vocals as he lay there stunned as to what to do next.

>"Well..." Runamuck's voice began "...I'm tied up back at the refinery here..hey hold still ya slaggin autopunk...you're on your own buddy..."< Runamuck cut the transmission short as he dove back into the scuffle with Sprints. Great, Runabout thought to himself, first that universal psychopath Contemptor wanted to break open his cranial unit, and now he had to contend with Blades all on his own...well he would have, except Blades wasn't flying solo. He had Groove with him. This day just got better and better for Runabout.

>"Hey.. to any available decepticons.." Runabout began "...Have just been intercepted by one of Blades' heatseekers, and I'm on my own against Blades and Groove....requesting assistance..like... YESTERDAY!!"<

Runabout groggily transformed and crouched to one knee, hoping to take refuge in the cover that the abandoned cars could provide him with untill help arrived. If it arrived.

El Dorado Refinery

Elsewhere Runamuck was faring better than that of his twirling, tumbling two lane terror of a brother. However he was not without difficulty, for the Autobot calling himself Sprints was proving to be a formidable foe...in fact too formidable.

It was one thing to tackle your opponent given the element of some surprise, but it was another thing to have been rolled through and feeling as if your own hand was about to be popped from its mounting post. Runamuck didn;t find this amusing for one single iota. He was already armed with a giant broken metal spike that he intended to turn Sprints into an over decoratvie pincushion....that is, if he could catch the little slagger.

There was a crunch behind him, and in turning, Runamuck was greeted by the grim outlines of none other than some other transformers. His internal databanks registered them as friendly. Oh this was impecable by Runamuck's standards... super heavy re-enforcements but... Hang on a parsec! No-one had actually called for any help - well no one apart from his dimwitted brother, so why were they here?

Runamuck's breif distraction had been all that the springy Autobot had needed, as Runamuck found himself flat on his back, the metal spike gone from his hands as he felt himself land hard on his shoulders and neck, the impact jarring his systems and his circuits hard as his HUD flickered with static. He lay there, a pretty picture if someone had a camera on them, but it was only for a few clicks because, and Runamuck found out why the Autobot was called Sprints - the little slagger was fast! Not fast enough though as Runamcuk vaulted himself up, narrowly dodging the rapid weapons fire that ensued from his opponent.

"Whoa...no chance Autoscrap...You're not getting me that easy!"

In truth, while Runamuck used the precious nanoclicks to scramble away in vehicle mode, Sprints had already tagged his shoulder. Not enough t warant grevious battle injury, but enough to cause an irritation as he spun in a one-eighty to open fire with his built in weapon systems before quick-switching back to charging robot mode. He snapped off a few shots from his HP Friction Rifle, intent on giving Sprints a really bad day before quick-switching back into vehicle mode - his charge vents open as he purposefully shot past Sprints, and through the supports of a high level building in the refinery, shattering the support struts and causing the building to collapse down. He was intent on crushing Sprints.

After all, if he couldn't have an Autobot Pin Cushion, then an Auto-pancake would be just as good.

Runamuck thundered away and switched back to Robot mode and took cover behind a still standing wall and a few oil barrells. It was then that he was fully aware of the presence of the Comabticons. Runamuck blurted out his surprise when he realised who was there.

"Commander Onslaught..."

Even though Hot Spot had aimed at Motormaster’s legs instead of his center of mass the impact till jarred him. They were still two massive objects hitting at a pretty good speed. Fortunately the impact didn’t do much damage to either of them aside from some likely dents and joints loosed from the impact. What it did do however was send Motormaster stumbling and falling forward as his legs were taken out from under him. It was all Hot Spot had hoped for.

While Motormaster was recovering from his fall the Protectobot commander was climbing to his feet. He didn’t have long to act. He grabbed a hold of the severely wounded Axle and pulled him away from the Stunticon. Fortunately, aside from the snapping of a few cables, the smaller Autobot slipped loose from Motormaster’s grip. Hot Spot let out a quiet sigh of relief as he held Axle. He produced an emergency beacon from a compartment on his leg and slapped it on the wounded Autobot.

The beacons were a creation of First Aid for their emergency operations. It sent out a strong signal to the Guardian. The ship’s computer automatically registered it and locked on to the signal. The wounded Autobot would then be bounced up to the ship immediately and an urgent signal sent to First Aid so he could begin emergency repairs on the Autobot in question.

A small smile spread over Hot Spot’s face as Axle disappeared in a column of light. At the very least he had succeeded in rescuing his fellow Autobot. Now he just had to be prepared for whatever other underhanded trick Motormaster had for him. He turned to face the Stunticon, braced for the next round of their battle.

*

Sunstreaker, Sideswipe and Tracer appeared in another column of light just outside the battlefield. Sunstreaker quickly began looking around the battlefield as he did his best to recover from the disorientation of orbital bounce. A nearby explosion rocked the ground and cast a bright red and yellow light on the newly arrived Autobots. A smile slowly crept over the yellow warrior’s face that mixed with the light almost gave him a demonic appearance. Now he was finally in his element again.

Sunstreaker settled his optics, and gun, on the first Decepticon he saw, which happened to be Dead End. Smirk on his face, he charged the Stunticon, opening fire with his rifle. Even if he didn’t hit him he hoped to keep him pinned down. Then he would enjoy dismantling him in hand to hand combat, which was his usual preference.

Steeljaw's jaw remained firmly clenched, even as he took blow after blow from Frenzy. The sonic boom, however, was way too much for his sensitive sensors- his jaw instantly loosened up as he began to stumble backwards, stunned by the close range scrambling blast.

"You...fraggin...little...grrr..." Steeljaw growled, unable to do much of anything, he didn't even realized that Saferoute had managed to retreat with the humans already.

Ramhorn sadistically smirked as he impacted with Rumble. Perfect he mused to himself, pleased. He didn't have heavy weaponry like Blades did, but he had more than enough power to make up for that. However, Rumble had gained a bit of distance from Ramhorn, and had started firing with his rifle. Letting out an annoyed grunt, Ramhorn attempted to navigate through the shots, but failed- one shot exploded directly on his horn, stopping him in tracks. Another shortly after exploded near his feet, sending him flying, fresh smoke floating up from his horn.

His path of flight, however, lead him on a direct impact course with Rumble. Though it wasn't at a very fast speed.

Road North of the Refinery- El Dorado, Kansas

Saferoute continued speeding up the highway as fast as she could, smashing through abandoned cars as she tried to keep ahead of Runabout.

"Stay away from me, you slagger...", she mumbled to herself as she kept an eye on the road, every so often looking over her passengers.

She then received the messages from Groove and Blades, which brought her great relief. It was times like this she was glad that, unlike on Cybertron, she had other mechs she could depend on.

Thank Primus.

Just after getting the message from Blades, she looked back and noticed the Battlecharger had suddenly stopped and turned around. As she drove further away from him she saw the explosion the Protectobot helicopter had mentioned earlier. Many of the humans screamed and shouted in fear.

"It's all right, everything's fine." she reassured her passengers, "There won't be anymore giant robots trying to hurt you now. Just hang on and I'll have you at the hospital in just a few minutes."

----------------------------

It was several astroseconds after he had left that Groove finally noticed Blades flying past him. The scout couldn't help but wonder and worry why his fellow Protectobot hadn't left immediately. Groove hoped that it was nothing too violent toward Breakdown- hopefully just a threat. For now, though, the scout had to hurry to make sure none of the Decepticons threatened the humans or Saferoute. He would address his concerns with Blades later.

The Protectobot motorcycle zoomed down the road, zigging and zagging around cars and debris. Before too long he had caught sight of the Battlecharger the transport had mentioned. Groove also noticed Blades high above, which the scout thought as odd. Normally the more aggressive Protectobot would have transformed to take on his targets in more brutal, hand-to-hand combat. It didn't take long for Groove to understand why, as he saw the rocket heading for Runabout.

Using his motorcycle mode's manueverability he managed to make a sudden stop, spinning 180 degrees and driving in the opposite direction, avoiding the explosion from the rocket. As Groove drove away, avoiding the larger debris, he saw Runabout pass by, a sparking mess sliding down the pavement on his roof.

Groove slowed a little to keep some distance from the Battlecharger, who was finally stopped by some abandoned cars. Groove transformed to his robot mode, only to find Runabout had already transformed and gone behind the same cars that had stopped him.

Groove pulled out his photon pistol, aiming it with both hands toward the wounded Battlecharger as he walked toward him. Groove had no intention of firing, but he would at least be in better position to defend himself then he was earlier with Breakdown.

"Runabout, throw down your weapons and come out with your hands above your head!", Groove called to the Battlecharger, "Come out peacefully and you won't be hurt any further. Trust me, that missile Blades fired at you is nothing compared to what he'd do to you up close."

Local law enforcement has reported disturbances in the area and we're getting multiple reports of several major explosions at the Frontier Refinery in El Dorado. General Grippe has ordered a viper strike on all aggressive targets. Scramble a response team."<<

"Scrambling now."

"Inform Colonel Rutelage."

"Yessir."

In the various hangars contained within the base, various internal alarms began to go off and buildings began to stir with increased activity. One of the runways lit up as airmen took to the concrete, flares in hand. Within only a few short minutes, a pair of F-16s had taken to the sky as the more ponderous B-2 Spirit was slowly awakened from its slumber by the crewmen. Soon it too would join its comrades in the air.

"Where we headed?" the co-pilot of the B-2 Spirit asked.

"El Dorado."

"Really? That's like...a minute away. I could spit and hit El Dorado."

"That's the orders. 16s are gonna scout the situation. If they need us, we'll already be airborne."

"Situation? This is Kansas. Kansas never has 'situations'."

"Well, someone thinks otherwise."

"Uh, sure. Roger that."

Onslaught instinctively found himself behind the same wall of cover as one of the other Decepticon warriors taking part in this battle, even as a building not far from their current position collapsed, sending debris and dust spilling in all directions. Runamuck. Onslaught was hardly surprised.

"Runamuck," Onslaught said in a simple acknowledgement.

The fact that Motormaster had not responded meant that he was obviously distracted somewhere. It was another less-than-ideal circumstance, but Onslaught had become quite adept at those as of late. Peering around the edge of the wall as energy fire railed against it, Onslaught locked his focus on the closest Autobot, likely the one that Runamuck had been engaged with only moments before. He didn't recognize the warrior, but his red Autobot insignia was all that mattered.

"We charge him. Take him out. Move on to the next one," Onslaught said, his weapon at the ready. This was not Ultra Magnus facing them down on the other side of the wall, rather some well-meaning, deluded Autobot grunt. Best to put him out of his misery quickly.

Moving from behind the wall, Onslaught felt one of the shots connect almost immediately with his mid-torso. He didn't allow the shot to slow him in the slightest. Raising his weapon at Sprints, he unloaded his own series of precision weapons fire.
___

Dead End's optics had been momentarily caught off guard by the sudden materialization.

Of course...more Autobots, he thought grudgingly. Before another thought could enter his morose line of thinking, he found himself in the crosshairs of one of the more recognizable members of the Autobot ranks.

Dirt kicked up all around the Stunticon warrior as the energy blasts connected with the environment and even grazed his own paint job, forcing him to duck and find the nearest available cover. With all the damage that had been done during the course of this battle that--at least--was an easy enough prospect. Crouching, Dead End fired back at Sunstreaker but managed to take an actual shot to the chest in doing so, knocking the Stunticon fully to the ground.

"Ugh...that's never gonna come out," Dead End grunted through the pain as he kept his actuator on the trigger mechanism of his compressed air rifle. Such a devastating weapon. He would've been just as well off with a spring-loaded pebble launcher.

As he fired, his radar system detected a pair of human aircraft that were headed on a direct-intercept course with their current position here at the refinery. He immediately opened a comm with Motormaster, as he knew what the consequences would be if he didn't.

>>"Boss, you might want to know that it seems we've attracted some degree of serious fleshbag attention out here. Two of them. Airborne."<<

Sprints grinned again as Runamuck hit the ground. There was little that pleased him more in life than defeating an enemy that he was locked in mortal combat with, and he had no doubt that this was mortal combat. The 'Cons had no qualms about killing. Neither should he. He'd hesitated and decided not to kill a foe already in this battle, and look where that had gotten him.

Then Runamuck was on his feet again, and firing once more. Sprints dove to the side, avoiding most of the shots but taking a clip to the leg. He spun as he fell, and barely rolled aside as the Battlecharger thundered past, taking out the supports of the structure. That spawn of a glitch is trying to crush me.

Sprints stood quickly and dashed forward and transformed as he did so, leaping almost horizontally and changing into a sleek Lamborghini before hitting the ground. As he transformed, he let out another yell, this time a phrase that he'd heard the humans use in these sorts of situations.

"Mother--!!!"

The rest of his outburst was lost in the rumble of the collapsing building. It was falling fast, and Sprints had to get out--

The building was falling all around him, the work of the Decepticon scum whose cranial he'd just ground beneath his heavy foot. He glanced up, not letting the other 'Cons in the vicinity escape his notice. Not too much, he thought. His heavy armor could take the punishment--

But Sprints knew his couldn't. And there were no more 'Cons that he could see, as he'd spun so quickly that the newly arrived Onslaught had gone undetected. He just acclerated as fast as he could, swerving wildly to avoid falling debris. A final chunk fell right in front of him, and he reverted to 'Bot form just in time to vault over it, rolling heavily on the other side, his shoulders and leg screaming in pain. He stood up, had barely a moment to take in the ongoing conflict, and then collapsed, his optics offlining and onlining erratically.

Defeated and resting on the ground with his knee joints embedded in the soft earth, it wasn't any wonder why Onslaught resolved to pass Wildrider by, regarding him little more than a pitiful heap of scrap preparing to rust away on an exotic world. Indeed, he had frequently expressed his wide range of opinions of the Combaticon commander and his unit, either publicly or within the confines of his friendship with his team-mates—omitting Motormaster of course. But what of it?

He shifted around in the soil, assessing his state. Thankfully Onslaught was nowhere in sight to witness just how ridiculous he looked, arms and legs wiggling about as if he were a species of cyber-insect struggling to get upright.

Perhaps he had revealed a little too much about the Combaticons when they entered their conversations? No, that couldn't have been the case. Confirmation would have been received in the form of Onslaught's feet pressing down firmly onto Wildrider's back-plates as he marched by, “oblivious” to the Stunticon's presence.

With everything appearing to be in order, he lifted himself from the soil, emitting a protracted groan while carrying out the movement. Multiple illuminations painting areas of the night sky with vivid yellows and oranges swarmed his optics, and the chorus of battle pierced his audio modules. The remaining fatigue still lingering in his systems was evicted by excitement, pure and thriving. He felt silly for forgetting where he presently was for that fleeting moment, but whatever. He had places to be, Autobots to crush.

Emanating his usual malicious energy, Wildrider began jogging towards a series of explosions, the resulting smoke looming above. The activity there promised a fight, and he wanted nothing more than to cause as much mayhem as possible.

Brawl was frustrated. He had been waiting for a chance to cut loose for orns, or at least it felt like it. And now that he finally had a chance to shoot something, every hostile target on the field was already engaged in melee combat with the Decepticons that had been already present here before the Combaticons had arrived. To be perfectly honest, Brawl didn't care for the Battlechargers or the Stunticons that much. Had he been in a similar situation without Onslaught present, he would have taken a shot - friendly fire be damned.

Then a bounce beam flashed across the sky where the first signs of dawn had already began to show. To Brawl it felt like a divine intervention. Particularly as an update from Vortex confirmed that all the new energy signatures on the field were Autobot ones.

Wasting no time after acquiring new targeting data from Vortex, Brawl pulled himself to stop and engaged the stealth feature built into his new tank form. Not that it did anything to remove the cacophony of sounds his movements were producing. With his targeting computer doing the math required, Brawl's turret whirled to position and in quick succession fired a pair of grenades over couple of refinery buildings at the Autobots that had just bounced in.

"Slaggin' spawn of a glitch! Frag your glitched creator!" Motormaster cursed as Hot Spot pulled Axle away from him, leaving only few snapped off cables as a memoir from the Autobot field medic in the Stunticon commander's hand. Hot Spot was getting on his nerves. Not only had the Protectobot followed him across the galaxy for at least a full vorn now, he had once again stolen a trophy from Motormaster. Not that Hot Spot had been able to stop all of his rampages either. The Autobot had to be about as frustrated with the Stunticons as Motormaster was with the Protectobots. This battle however was hardly over. Or that was what Motormaster wanted to think.

Axle might have been taken from him but what time Hot Spot spent attaching the emergency beacon into the field medic - allowed Motormaster to get back to his feet. His optics burning of rage, Motormaster took hold of his sword with his both hands and swung the fearsome weapon with a lateral arch at Hot Spot with all the intention of cutting the Protectobot leader in two.

"I'm gonna cut you in two and carve you a new waste disposal unit!" He roared as he took the swing, only for Hot Spot to somehow dodge it by jumping backwards. Getting even angrier as his efforts to end this meddling fool kept failing time and time again, Motormaster took a step towards the Protectobot and went for another swing - a quicker one-handed one. "And then I'm gonna rip your head off and stick it up your newfound exhaust port!"

This was it, if he was to miss again, he'd have to delay finishing off Hot Spot for another day. Motormaster had ignored Starscream's transmission for now given how replying back to the Seeker was hardly convinient for him in this situation but the content of Starscream's message changed everything. Together with the transmission from Dead End which had informed him of human jetfighters having been launched from the Air Force base not too far away from his current position - it made Motormaster grudgingly accept that this fight was technically over. He did not fear the humans but it was not time to make their presence obvious to the human military yet. An order for his Decepticons to transform into the their vehicle modes would be given before the human jets were in range of being able to confirm visually that this refinery was being attacked by giant robots. And Shockwave... as well as Onslaught... slag, it was becoming way too complicated.

Skies above El Dorado

Vortex's sensors came to life as two energy signatures emerged upon its outer fringe. Quickly he cross referenced the data with known signatures. Satisfied the signatures were not in fact Autobot fliers such as Silverbolt or his mechanized moron squadron, the Combaticon Interrogation Expert adjusted his position.

Opening a channel between himself and Onslaught, Vortex maneuvered lower to the ground to take himself out of radar detection. "It appears I can confirm that our uninvited guests are indeed not apart of Silverbolt's cowardly crew. Leave their fate to me. I recommend an organized withdrawal once the fun is concluded."

Vortex opened a tight beam override frequency and directed it straight at the oncoming signals. Immediately their primitive operational programs were all open to him, as if they were the great libraries of Underbase. A few pokes of code and a deletion of security override lines, Vortex swiftly took control of the guidance systems of the two jet investigators.

He could not help but feel a bit disappointed at the ease to which he was able to hack these primitive systems, but it could not be helped. After all they were nothing more than protoplasm and goo wrapped in a bag of cellular matter. Delving deeper into the system Vortex activated the targeting system of the two F-16 fighters. Painting firing solutions on multiple Autobot positions to give cover to his retreating allies. "I suppose I will have to entertain myself with this, for the time being."

The interrogator sent the order to the jets to open fire.

Checking the weapons check list of the two approaching jets, that were now trying desperately to avoid the unexpected orders to fire upon unseen targets, Vortex was satisfied they were depleted. He then gave a simple command to both jets ordering them to dive straight towards the nearest refinery tank to cause the maximum damage to the area and hope to remove a few more Autobots from the queue.

Vortex broke the override links and banked away towards Onslaught and Brawl. "Thank you, thank you. I will offer my autographs at a later date."

Onslaught saw Sprints go down and was satisfied that the Autobot wasn't going to present much more of a hindrance to this particular operation.

"Good work," Onslaught said to Runamuck, recognizing that it was the Battlecharger's efforts that had done most of the heavy-lifting in terms of incapacitating the Autobot. His optics then spotted Motormaster, who appeared to be locked in combat with the Protectobot commander, Hot Spot. He moved closer so as to get in a better position before raising his sonic stun gun and aiming. Given his current engagement with Motormaster, Onslaught hoped that the distraction did its job.

Onslaught fired just as the transmission from Vortex came in, though the interruption did not distract the well-trained battlefield commander. With the addition of the organics, the scenario here was bound to get considerably more complicated, even if Vortex succeeded.

"If". No, it was more a matter of "when" when it came to his unit. And the answer to Onslaught's inner-curiosity came quickly, as the human aerial conveyances began to fire upon the Autobot operatives before nose-diving in to one of the large refinery tanks.

"Motormaster! We need to get out of here! Mission accomplished!" Onslaught called out as he opened a new transmission link. He wasn't entirely certain of what the mission had been or whether it truly had been accomplished, but what more could they really accomplish here at this point?

>>"Ultrax, this is Onslaught. Bounce me and my team out of here!"<<

If he was going to get any time with Motormaster, it was going to have to happen within the confines of the Stunticon's own ship, before this area was swarming with meatbags, as it was very soon going to be.

The searing pain from the corrosive Groove had used on his hands caused Breakdown to scream in agony. He tried desperately to rid his now exposed servo structures of the acidic liquid. It was no use, however, as it simply continued to eat away even further. As Breakdown writhed on the ground whimpering death threats to the Protectobot, he began to edge himself away. He needed to get as far from Groove and Blades as possible.

Luck was on his side at that moment when he watched the two Protectobots transform and head off after their bus friend. Gathering himself up from the ground Breakdown transformed and headed off toward the rest of his team, hoping to find a sympathetic hand.

After Drag Strip had plowed through the outer wall of the building Hex had lost sight of him. As quickly as the former racer had moved through the breach he just as quickly vanished from sight. Hex had moved away from the building but kept his speed low so as not to be taken by surprise. The young mech stopped suddenly and transformed back to his root mode. Carefully he pulled his crossbow from its magnetic holster and deliberately stepped closer toward the debris Drag Strip had found refuge behind.

Just then the yellow Stunticon fired off a couple of rounds from his gravito-gun, but the shots were aimed high, easy for Hex to avoid. Instead of jumping out of the line of fire, Hex simply rolled out of the way. He wound up flat on his stomach before he raised his crossbow at the makeshift wall and fired two arrows, the first equipped with an explosive head and the next filled with a toxic mixture of acid and a cosmic rust derivative.

“You got real crappy aim, Drag Strip. Makes me wonder if your racing is as bad as your shooting!”

Once the small team of reinforcements had arrived on site Sunstreaker immediately made his way into the fray, headed directly for Dead End. Tracer had armed herself with her particle beam rifle and took a quick glance over at Sideswipe, who was already staring right at her.

“Okay, will he stop once the ‘Cons retreat?”

Sideswipe flashed the femme a toothy grin.

“Nope. But let’s not ruin this moment by discussing my idiot brother.”

Tracer let out a heavy sigh before she made ready to respond to the crimson warrior. She had just opened her mouth to tell him off, again, when, from out of know where Sideswipe had tackled her down to the ground, his body lying over the top of hers.

Tracer looked up at him in absolute horror, but he immediately moved further on top of her as the sound of two explosions close by went off. Dirt and debris pelted the red warrior as he shielded the femme from any danger. Once the smoke and dirt began to clear Sideswipe lifted his head and took a quick look around. His attention then moved to the gorgeous femme pinned beneath him. Sideswipe cocked a brow and flashed a suave smile.

“Now isn’t this the most perfect situation. I could get used to this position.”

Tracer gave him an annoyed grunt before pushing his face away with the palm of her hand.

“Get off me!”

“Think about that a sec, are you sure that’s what you want?”

It was then that the smile on his face grew even wider.

“Oh, well, that feels like you’d rather stay put.”

“Wrong, stud, that’s the muzzle of my gun against your crotch.”

Sideswipe quickly scrabbled to his feet and brushed himself off while waiting for Tracer to also get to his feet. She gave him a sideways glance before moving in closer to the battle taking place. Sideswipe took off past her in search of his own fight.

Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital- 1.6 miles north of the Refinery

Saferoute slowed down as she neared the hospital, passing by several military vehicles that had been deployed in the area. Many of the national guardsmen gave her odd looks, probably because her scorched-off paint job, though none tried to stop her. As she pulled in to the hospital's emergency entrace, some local law enforcement officers stepped in front of her. She stopped as one of them walked over to the "driver's" window, which Saferoute opened.

"Look's like your bus took a bit of a beating, ma'am." the officer said, looking over the now mostly black bus, "Were you at the refinery?"

"Its not as bad as it looks.", the "driver" replied, "Yes, I just came from the refinery, I managed to get these people out of there. A lot of them are hurt, they need medical attention. Nothing life threatening, but they really need to see a doctor."

The officer looked along the windows at the passengers. Among their faces were many burns and dried blood. He motioned to the officers in front of Saferoute, and they moved out of the way, one of them talking into a wireless handset.

"All right, you're bus is too big for the main entrance, so just pull up as close as you can. We'll have some people out here to help them in.", the officer replied as he backed away from the bus.

Slowly she drove up, stopping just short of the main circle that the ambulances would drive through. Just as opened both the front and emergency back doors, several nurses, officers and paramedics came out of the hospital, some of them with gurneys.

Anyone who isn't hurt please stay in your seat until the injured are off.", Saferoute announced to her passengers as they started to get up and into the helping hands of the natives.

Those who got out the front door thanked Saferoute as they passed by her avatar, those who got out the back thanked her as they passed by her window.

"Make sure to call your family and friends when you can, I'm sure they'll want to know you're all right." she told them.

As she had asked the non-injured passengers had stayed in their seats until all the injured were off. Once they started to leave they gave longer thank yous. It all made the transport happy that she could help them, yet sad that she wouldn't get to see them again.

After the last passenger left, the police officer got in the bus to have a chat.

"That was some brave thing you did saving all those people. You should get a medal for this." the officer said.

"I just did what I thought was right.", she humbly replied, "They were in danger and I just helped."

"Well, lucky for them you got them out just in time. If the terrorists didn't kill them now, then they'd be dead in just a minute.", the officer told her.

"What do you mean?", the red headed "driver" asked, "What's going on?"

"Well," the officer got up close to whisper, so no one else would hear him, "Don't tell anyone I told you, but the military is sending in some jets to bomb the refinery. I guess those terrorists are doing something big."

"I see..." the bus driver said thoughtfully, though deep down Saferoute was really worried, "Well, I should be going."

"You sure? You've already been through a lot, sure you don't want to rest up a bit?" the officer asked.

"No, thank you." she answered, "I'd just like to get home now and rest."

"Well, suit yourself, as long as your home isn't too close to that refinery." the officer replied as he got off the bus, "They've closed off most of the town near there."

"Oh no, I live up north of here. I'll be fine, thanks.", she said as she closed both the bus doors.

The officer waved at her as she carefully backed up and turned around.

<<Hot Spot, this is Saferoute. The humans are in a local hospital now, but I've got bad news. I just heard that the humans are about to send an air stri->>

Before she could finish she heard and saw two jets in the distance. Without warning she saw them firing at the ground, then dive straight to the ground.

Oh slag..., she thought as she navigated through the hospital parking lot, then back onto the main road.

Weapon: Chomping Rotor Blades
Frontier Refinery – El Dorado, Kansas

The rocket's flight proceeded without intrusion as it hurried directly towards Runabout. Hovering in the sky, Blades retained the projectile in his view, curious to behold how much damage it would induce. One part of him wished for Runabout's elimination, a furious explosion spewing forth scorched pieces of the cretin, while the other hoped luck safeguarded him from the worst of the rocket's effects. Blades wasn't presented with much time to consider which of the two outcomes he preferred as a brilliant flash snared his attention.

He continued to hover high above the highway, drifting left or right every so often. From his position he witnessed the entire spectacle—and what a spectacle it proved to be. Although the flash denied his vision the finer details, he did see, with overflowing joy, Runabout rolling and spinning down the highway as if he were a leaf assaulted by a gust of wind. And the best part was that he had survived.

For the moment.

Blades dropped out of the sky, quickly descending to the ground. He transformed, feet greeting the flawed asphalt with a heavy clank. His opponent had retreated and pursued protection behind an assortment of deserted vehicles. Yeah, right.

Runabout.”

Like Blades hadn't see him scurrying away from his aerial position.

“Come out, come out wherever you are!”
