Gulf of New Mexico- on the Platform

Starscream was taken by surprise by Sunstreaker's sudden maneuver and he was sent sprawling to the ground. His back slammed into the surface of the platform and with the screech of metal on metal, with sparks flying the Seeker Commander slid a few feet. He recovered quickly and rolled onto his feet and got to his feet ready for the next round of blows with his Autobot opponent. It was then that he saw the sudden change in the situation. Darkride had taken Bumblebee captive, and Prowl had ordered his unit to stand down as he tried to deal with the situation.

Starscream grinned as he made his way to stand before Prowl.

"So it seems the situation has shifted to our favour Autobots." The Seeker commander began, locking optics with his Autobot counterpart. "I suggest you disengage your forces Prowl and withdraw, and leave this platform and its energy to us. Or else I will have my rather eager subordinate here terminate your comrade. Do you copy that Darkride? If the Autobots make any attempt to attack me, yourself or any other Decepticon on this platform, or try to rescue Bumblebee or stop our extraction operation kill your captive. And take your time in that manner you oh so enjoy as well."

The grin on Starscream's was a sinister one as he spoke, and his optics flickered with the arrogance he was known for, and the taste of a victory so close he was certain he could detect it.

>>"Astrotain, redeploy to Thundercracker's position and begin loading the energy. We must be prepared to extract quickly."<<

"Now what is it going to be Autobot? Will you attempt to stop us at the cost of your friend in that oh so way of Autobot bravado, or take the sensible way out and withdraw? I suggest you choose wisely."

Oil platform

Prowl looked around as Starscream repeated the ultimatum. He did not want to abandon Bumblebee. He wouldn't.

"You stay alive Bumblebee! We will come for you, regardless what they say." he said. "That's an order!"

In his mind he knew the Decepticons had this round. But it was better it was a minor victory for the Decepticons rather than a major one. Still, this gave him an idea of what they needed to address with their forces. The Decepticons had them out-gunned, and out-numbered and dominated the air. This was not their day. This was something he would have to address with Optimus. They needed more help.

"Autobots... fall back!" he muttered as he activated his switch to the orbital bounce platform with a return course.

He would catch heat from various Autobots when he got back. It wasn't the first time, but it was better Bumblebee lived to fight again another day. And injuries would be much worse if he didn't withdrawl.

He turned to Darkride with his optics narrowed and said, "Next time."

With that, he hit the activation button.

Weapon: Energo-Sword
On the Platform

Sunstreaker jumped to his feet, a confident smirk on his feet as he stared down at the prone form of Starscream. He let the seeker get back to his feet. He wanted everyone to see him take him down, and he wanted to see him beating Starscream standing and toe to toe. He raised his firsts in a fighting stance once more, ready for another round with the Decepticon.

His glorious battle was interrupted by Prowl’s message. He glanced over a Prowl, a glare on his face, before his optics found Bumblebee held captive by Darkride. The scowl remained on his face. Bumblebee wasn’t worth his big shot at taking down Starscream, but he knew the other Autobots would think so. He stayed in a ready position, his optics locked on Starscream as he walked over to Prowl. The scowl remained on his face as he walked over to join Prowl and they were bounced back to base.

*

After apparently downing Blackstar Sideswipe had occupied himself with applying a quick patch to his wound to make sure he did bleed himself out of fuel before the fight was over. Unfortunately, once he was done patching himself up Prowl called for the cease fire. Sideswipe took in the situation around him and stifled a curse. Apparently someone had gotten the drop on Bumblebee.

His grip on his rifle tightened as he received the message from Prowl. Honestly he wasn’t too wild about it. Wouldn’t an explosion like that take out the gathered Autobots as well? Still, Prowl was the boss and he assumed he had some bigger and more complicated plan he just wasn’t seeing. He began to move into position while Prowl negotiated with the Decepticons. From his perch on some of the piping he was able to spot Ironhide, having fallen into stasis lock from injuries with a female seeker standing nearby. When Prowl ordered the retreat he was able to grab Ironhide and drag him over to the others so they could all bounce out together.

*

Hellion stood over the unconscious form of Ironhide. The Autobot had put up some fight, but in the end she was disappointed. It hadn’t even gone far enough for her to enter her berserker state. While that might be good for her fellow Decepticons, it left her feeling like the whole mission had been a waste. Not really feeling up to killing the Autobot, she let him get carried away by his comrade. She turned to join the other seekers in gathering the fuel they had been sent out to acquire.

*

Astrotrain grunted as Prowl shot him, gradually weakening one of his brakes. He growled in anger and frustration as the Autobot leapt out of the way of his charge at the last instant. The triplechanger didn’t even bother applying his brakes as she raced off of the platform, transforming into his shuttle mode as he launched off of it. He circled around for another attack on the Autobots. He spotted Darkride with a hostage. He pulled out of his attack run and simply circled the rig until he received the signal from Starscream.

‘Well, it was nice while it lasted,’ he grumbled to himself as he landed on the rig next to Thundercracker and the other Decepticons gathering the fuel. He opened his main hatch and waited for the seekers to load him down with cargo.

Darkride’s grip on Bumblebee intensified as he watched the gathered Autobots move to a position where they could bounce back to their base. He glared down at Starscream once the seeker saw that it was safe for him to address Prowl. The corners of Darkride’s mouth curled into a wicked grin when he heard Prowl’s angered threat. “I’ll be ready.” He mouthed to the Autobot Commander.

After the Autobots bounced off the platform Darkride lowered himself back down to stand next to Starscream. The interrogator scoffed at the Seeker Commander as he spoke, his tone sarcastic and dark. “You’re welcome.” That said Darkride put away his sword and dragged his prisoner over to Astrotrain, who was already in his shuttle mode. The black and purple mech entered the cargo bay and placed Bumblebee down where he then placed a pair of manacles to his wrists and firmly attached him to the wall. “What do you plan on doing with me now?” Darkride looked back at the minibot and simply smiled before he turned and left Astrotrain.

"Hah, how does it look like 'Warp?" Thundercracker asked a question of his own from his friend in response to Skywarp's original query.

"Slaggin' energy processing is always such a joy." He sighed. "At least the Autobots gave up. I suppose it would be for the best to join the others. I doubt there's any need for guarding anymore and I don't want to listen to Starscream screaming about not being efficient enough."

With the Autobots bouncing away, Thundercracker turned on his heels and joined the other Decepticons in loading the storage cubes into Astrotrain.

Smokescreen couldn't believe what he was hearing. We're retreating? We're actually going to leave one of our own behind to these Decepticon scum! He shook his head once again, understanding that there were few options open to them and most, if not all, would lead to Bumblebee's untimely end. Perhaps Prowl was doing the right thing by retreating. Live to fight another day or die fighting a losing battle now. However, it still didn't feel right to the diversionary tactician. Smokey didn't like to lose, after all, and he hated the idea of leaving behind a fellow comrade and friend. Smokey was known for doing whatever it took to win, even if that meant bending the rules or outright cheating. Unfortunately, neither of those options were open to him in this situation.

Smokescreen glanced over to Hound, who was standing nearby. "Looks like we lost this one, bud," the red and blue mech said with a look that expressed both anger and sadness at the same time. "Lets get back to base and get you patched up proper." Releasing a heavy sigh, Smokey positioned himself with the other Autobots. Astroseconds later, Prowl pressed the activation button and they were gone from the platform.

*********

Skywarp looked down on the beaten Autobots as they initiated an orbital bounce back to their base. "Good riddance," the teleporter muttered as he then listened to Thundercracker complain about the joys of gathering fuel. "Heh, you should've been there for the Alaskan raid. While it was fun squashing those pesky organic slugs, it got boring after a while. They don't put up much of a fight. At least here we had the Autobots to make things a bit more exciting."

Skywarp smiled as he turned and followed Thundercracker over to where the other seekers were beginning to load up Astrotrain with the captured fuel. "And it's always a good feeling when we win," Skywarp continued speaking to his friend as he grabbed a bunch of the energy cubes and carried them into the Decepticon shuttle.

After placing the cubes against a back wall, 'Warp turned and glared down at Bumblebee, who was shackled and helpless. The yellow minibot was only a scout and not very strong to say the least. It amazed Skywarp that the Autobots would care so much about such an insignificant little mech that they would actually retreat in order to save his small spark. "Pathetic," the black and purple seeker said plainly before turning away from the prisoner and exiting Astrotrain in order to retrieve more storage cubes.

Gulf of Mexico – On the Platform

Darkride had walked out of Astrotrain’s cargo bay and waited a short distance away as he watched the Seekers load up the energy cubes. His stare grew icy cold as he spotted Skywarp walk into the cargo hold and off load an arm full of cubes. Without hesitation the interrogator moved to stand next to the entrance and waited patiently.

As soon as Skywarp exited the hold Darkride made his move. The smaller mech reared back and sucker punched the black and purple seeker dead in the face knocking him down on his aft. Darkride moved to stand above the downed seeker and sneered, barely bearing his teeth. He growled out a response to his actions, anger dripping heavily with each word. “That was for firing on me. Do it again and I promise you I’ll do to you what I do to the humans.” He stared down at Skywarp for a moment before he spit at him and walked away.

As Skywarp exited Astrotrain, he was met with the fist of Darkride, who struck him square in the jaw. The smaller mech had come out of nowhere and attacked the seeker suddenly and without provocation. Landing on his aft, 'Warp was then spit upon by the Decepticon interrogator. This was the second time in the past few cycles that a mech had surprised Skywarp. Seething with rage, 'Warp rubbed his chin slightly as he watched Darkride walk away as if he would avoid repercussions for what he had just done to the elite seeker.

Without a second thought, Skywarp teleportered and reappeared standing directly in front of Darkride. 'Warp then pointed one of his arm-mounted guns directly at the interrogator's face. "How dare you attack me you cowardly excuse for a Decepticon!" Skywarp scowled at the smaller mech. "Let's make one thing perfectly clear. I did NOT fire on you, moron! I was firing on the Autobot, Bumblebee. You placed yourself in harms way in order to 'save' the minibot from my missile, a stupid move to be sure even by your low standards." Skywarp then leaned down slightly, giving Darkride an evil smile. "And if you ever strike me like that again, it will be the last thing you ever do. I will blast you into a millions pieces and then teleport the spare parts into orbit around this backwater world. Do I make myself perfectly clear, Darkride!?"

Skywarp wanted to terminate the interrogator's existence right there and then. However, even 'Warp knew that wasn't a good idea, especially not in front of Air Commander Starscream. Instead, the teleporter intended to save face after being knocked down in front of the other seekers by the smaller mech. A time would come, however, when Darkride would have to pay for his cowardly sneek attack, and considering Skywarp's penchant for playing pranks, it would be a payback the Decepticon torturer would never forget.

"Yeah. Winning does feel good. Though this hardly feels like one of those victories that made us feared and respected." Thundercracker told Skywarp as the black and purple seeker turned to take his cargo into Astrotrain. He didn't mention anything about the Alaskan raid though. One would think his brother had already learned that killing those who couldn't fight back did not fit Thundercracker's beliefs about warrior honor.

Left alone to fill the energon containers for other seekers to haul into Astrotrain, Thundercracker got lost in his own thoughts until a loud clank woke him up. As he turned to look, like most of the other seekers working on the platform, he found himself in a bit of a shock. Darkride had just delivered a sucker punch that had dropped Skywarp down on his aft. For a moment Thundercracker considered launching an assault on his own against Darkride due to his actions but that would have just left Skywarp look weaker. No, 'Warp had to deal with Darkride alone so he wouldn't lose his face.

Which was exactly what Skywarp seemed to do after he had gathered his senses. Still, Thundercracker couldn't avoid feeling bit disappointed that his brother didn't mangle the despicable interrogator as an example for all who dared to disrespect the seeker elite. Certainly Starscream wouldn't have held back. Then again, it was difficult to tell whether the seeker commander would take Darkride's actions as an insult towards his seekers or their revenge upon Darkride as something he wouldn't tolerate.

Darkride looked back up at Skywarp, an equally evil smile on his face. How little the seeker knew about him. Threats of violence and murder were not the way to intimidate him. He was a dealer in pain and murder, threats of either only amused him. If the seeker actually tried either on him, then he would enjoy it. Right now though he was little more than some little protoform trying to get his way.

“Of course Skywarp, whatever you say.” The interrogator then brought his hand up and carefully pushed the gun arm out of his face before walking past the seeker and back into Astrotrain. He still had a prisoner to look after.

Nightraven had been quite busy with loading Astrotrain, when she suddenly looked up and saw Skywarp get sucker punched by the interrogator. She straightened up from her hunched position and watched the out coming. She furrowed her brow as she watched Darkride push Skywarp’s gun out of his face and casually made his way into Astrotrain’s cargo bay. She snorted and shook her head as she spoke in a hushed tone to Hellion. “Males. I hope they kill one another. It would make our lives much easier.”

She went back to loading her share of the energy cubes, and once she was done she looked to her sister and offered a slight smile. “Well, I’m through with my pile.” She moved in close to Hellion and whispered, “I wish that little incident hadn’t happened. I could have made my way over to Thundercracker and talked with him, but he’s probably more interested in talking with Skywarp right now.” She let out a sigh and looked over at the blue Seeker.

Skywarp scowled at Darkride as the interrogator responded to his threats with a arrogant tone in his voice. Then the smaller Decepticon pushed the seeker's arm-mounted cannon to one side and walked by him. How dare this insolent mech touch my weapon, let alone push it away? The anger continued to boil up inside 'Warp's spark core as he watched Darkride stroll back into Astrotrain's cargo hold. It took everything in Skywarp's framework not to chase after the Decepticon torture monger and rip him apart with his bare hands. Although, something deep down told 'Warp that Darkride would probably enjoy the pain that would bring. Still, the teleporter had it in for the interrogator. One way or another, Darkride would pay for this insult.

In an effort to stave off his increasing rage, Skywarp approached Thundercracker and began to vent to his long time friend. "Can you believe that, 'Cracker?! That piece of slag had the nerve to strike me and then walk away as if it were no big deal." As Skywarp talked, he picked up another pile of storage cubes. He then continued speaking in a low whisper so no one, except Thundercracker, could hear him. "I'll tell you this, 'Cracker, if Darkride's not careful, he'll find himself on the aft end of one of my pranks. And it won't be some harmless little one either that I usually play on the others. Oh, no! It'll be a big one, for sure. One that the little slagger will never forget."

As Skywarp approached Astrotrain's cargo bay with his armful of cubes, he quieted down and placed the energy containers against the wall near the doorway. For a brief moment, he glared over at Darkride who was standing by the Autobot captive, Bumblebee. How much 'Warp wanted to punish the interrogator in some way. But now was not the time or place. For now, Skywarp simply ignored Darkride and walked back out onto the platform.

Hellion snickered back at Nightraven’s comment. “At least then there would be some real action. That battle wasn’t exactly what I hoped it would be. These Autobots talk a big game but they never seem to deliver.” The seeker hefted another heavy load of energon cubes and carried them inside the triplechanger. She continued to listen to Nightraven as she worked.

The femme flashed a smile at her sister as she lifted another large pile of cubes. “You’re just done first because your pile was smaller Nighty.” She started walking towards Astrotrain as her sister walked up to her and began whispering to her. She shrugged her shoulders as she placed the last cubes inside of the transport. “Maybe, although Skywarp might not be in a mood for much talking. Darkride kind of shot him down pretty good there.” She then spotted Skywarp doing just that. “Or maybe he will run off and talk to him. I guess he has to make himself feel better somehow if he can’t beat him in a fight.” Hellion snickered.

The seekers exited Astrotrain and Hellion slapped him on the hatch. “That’s all.”

“Finally,” the triplechanger grumbled back at her. “I don’t like sitting here full of energon out in the open, so let’s get going.” With that the Decepticon lit up his engines and rocketed up and off of the oil rig. The various other Decepticons quickly transformed and joined him in the skies, bound for their headquarters.
