Polyhex - The Hexagon: Shockwave's Tower

Homeworld of the Transformers. Drained and ravaged by thousands of vorns of civil war, Cybertron is a mere barren husk of once beautiful and thriving cybernetic world. While recovered enough to allow Transformers to move on its surface once again, it is still plagued by ion storms and any Transformer unfortunate enough to venture there without energon supply of their own is certain to face a stasis lock.

Shockwave's Tower - Repair Bay

Razorclaw received Blackwind's message as he reached the repair bay deep within the tower.

>>"Affirmative."<<

Switching on the power to the facility, the Predacon Commander was able to locate the CR chambers as the lights illuminated the large room. Making his way over to them, Razorclaw could tell that the machines were covered with a good layer of dust and had been left unused for numerous vorns. But they appeared to be whole and in overall good shape.

"They'll have to do," Razorclaw muttered as he activated the first chamber which soon hummed to life. He opened the door and placed the still stasis locked Tantrum inside. Once the door was closed, the Predacon leader initiated the repair cycle. "You'll be good as new in no time."

Razorclaw then moved to a nearby CR chamber and programed it for himself, having suffered some damage from his fight with Grimlock. His repairs would not take as long as Tantrum's since they were minor in comparison. The Predacon leader then stepped inside the old chamber and let the door slide shut behind him.

Outskirts of Polyhex

Divebomb flew in low to the ground, still unable to achieve greater heights due to his damaged wing. His enhanced optics scoured the way ahead for any signs of the Dinobots. For a while he thought the EMP bomb had done it's job better than Razorclaw had said, but Divebomb soon came across the enemy in the distance and swiftly flew into a crumbling building nearby to avoid being seen.

Perching himself on the edge of a broken window high up on the structure, the flying Predacon kept his acute visual sensors training on the retreating Dinobots as they entered an old transport vehicle. He took careful notice that one of them was in stasis lock while the others all appeared to be suffering the effects of the EMP wave.

As the transport pulled away, Divebomb leapt from the window and continued following the Dinobots, making sure he kept his distance so he wouldn't be spotted.

Heart of Cybertron - Plasma Energy Chamber

Skullcruncher had to admit he was in awe of the majestic chamber that opened before his optics. Still, despite his toughbot personality, the eerie humming in the planet's core with the addition of the huge statues of titans from Cybertron's past did make him nervous. At least he certainly hoped they were statues, for the fact that all the creatures that still lived in the tunnels avoided the chamber was rather odd. Nevertheless, feeling uneasy did not sit well with him. Which was why he had let Beastbox, Overkill and Squawktalk out of the small compartment he had had them stored in. For once he was glad for the fact that Soundwave had agreed to borrow some of his minions to the unit Skullcruncher had been part of until he had been called to Cybertron by Shockwave. The presence of the smaller Decepticons calmed him enough to focus on the task a head. For better or worse, now he wouldn't be surprised without a warning if nothing else.

Following through the instructions given him by Shockwave, Skullcruncher set up the device meant for the sample taking before what could be descriped as a miniatyre sun confined within a forcefield. As soon as the device was ready, the large Decepticon step back from the whirling giant sphere of plasma and set up a portable forcefield generator that enfulged him and his groupees. Activating the device through a remote signal, the machine fired up and and created a small tubelike forcefield of its own which connected with the gigantic plasma sphere. In a fraction of a second, the device had harnessed as much the plasma it possibly could and cut off the forcefield. As the result a small amount of plasma escaped the sphere and rained down on the Decepticons' own forcefield before the sphere's own containment field repaired itself.

"That would have hurt like... well I dunno. A lot?" Beastbox snorted as he watched the plasma pouring on the forcefield.

"You have seen what happens to those thrown into the smelting pools of Darkmount Beastbox." Skullcruncher spoke up. "This leak of plasma would have had the same result, only quicker."

The purple and pink Decepticon that resembled somekind of a cyber gorilla shuddered as did the blue and white dinosaur like Overkill next to him. For the sake of their mental well being, Squawktalk seemed to be scared voiceless.

As the plasma rain died out, Skullcruncher let the shield go and walked over the sample extractor device. "Come on boys, we have a job to do."

Shockwave's Tower - The Nerve Center

The final tests were ran, the verdict was clear. Starscream's find, the ore sample labelled as ore-13 was in fact ultra energon, just as Shockwave had expected. A rare and fought for sustenance that had not been encountered on Cybertron or anywhere else ever since the beginning of the Great War between Autobots and Decepticons. Nor had anyone been successful in reproducing it until now. However whether the ore-13 was the result of Shockwave's experiments or natural evolution of unexploited energon veins was some Shockwave could not determine - yet. Nevertheless, the results of his work warranted a visit to the main laboratory of the tower.

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

Somewhat later...

It was intriguing. Abudance of ultra energon could easily turn over the tide of the Great War. Shockwave was almost tempted to feed on the refined energon patch his drones had prepared per his orders. Almost. While ultra energon was not exactly uncommon to Transformers, it had been thousands of vorns since any of them had used it for fuel. Its side effects were notorious - it was both addictive and threacherous. No, before he could report his findings to Megatron or before the ultra energon could be utilized against the Autobots, several more tests with live subjects would have to be made to find its limits and size of safe dosages on various systems. To ensure he would have his results soon, two subjects were chose and a transmission was sent.

Shockwave's Tower - Repair Bay

The door to the CR chamber opened with a low squeal instead of the usual hissing sound. Razorclaw stepped out of the old, clunky machine, feeling good as new. At least the healing device still worked even if the strange sounds it made seemed to suggest otherwise. The Predacon Commander turned his attention to a nearby CR chamber where Tantrum was still recuperating from his more severe wounds. Razorclaw studied the display screen and saw that his subordinate still had a few more cycles to go before he was fully functional again.

Knowing that he couldn't wait around, Razorclaw turned and transformed to lion mode and quickly made his way out of the tower.

Base Perimeter

Exiting through a hatch on the north side of the tower, Razorclaw immediately made his way to the nearest autocannon. Transforming back to robot mode, the Predacon leader inspected the large weapon and saw that it needed some minor repair work. It was nothing he couldn't handle, of course. As he opened an access panel on the front of the cannon, Razorclaw noticed that some of the cables and connections had come loose over time. He quickly went about re-wiring the circuits in the hopes of restoring functionality to the defensive weapon.

After a few cycles had passed, Razorclaw was finished re-establishing the internal connections and had moved on to repairing some minor damage to the outer structure. There was, however, a good-sized crack in the side of the autocannon which needed to be patched. Unfortunately, he did not have the appropriate materials present to do so.

Knowing that enough time had now passed, Razorclaw opened a comm line to the Predacon fueler:

>>"Tantrum, if your repair cycle is finished, I need you to go to the storage depot and retrieve some panels and torches so I can repair one of the tower's autocannons. Once you have what is needed, bring everything to me at the base perimeter. Razorclaw out."<<

Outskirts of Polyhex

Divebomb had no sooner leapt from the building in order to follow the Dinobots when he received Blackwind's secured communique.

>>"Understood, Blackwind. My enhanced optics should allow me to also keep a good distance from the Dinobots so as not to attract their attention."<<

The flying Predacon closed his encrypted response and then assumed the ordered flanking position, still flying low and close to the buildings to help further shield himself from enemy detection.

Outside the Tower

Dreadwind and Darkwing had just begun some preliminary work on the autocannon when the orders came in from Shockwave. The two Decepticons looked at each other. “Is there every going to be any down time on this planet? We don’t even have time to get one job done before another one is foisted upon us.”

Dreadwind nodded at Darkwing. “Shockwave was the one who sent us on the suicidal bomb run as well. He must be surprised that we are still around for his expendable use.”

Darkwing sighed. “Come on, lets at least see what he has for us. I’d rather get slagged for doing something then slagged for being late to do something.”

The two Decepticons transformed and rocketed up the tower, transforming and landing in the main hangar bay. They quickly navigated through the tower’s hallways and arrived at their destination.

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

Darkwing and Dreadwind stepped into the lab, saluting sharply, or as sharply as they could manage. Neither one of them were particularly eager for a new assignment from the commander, but they knew better than to try and avoid it. Both were confident that they were doomed, but Darkwing would rather go into it knowing and willingly while Dreadwind simply knew it was inevitable.

“Reporting as ordered Commander Shockwave.”

Shockwave's Tower - Repair Bay

The CR chamber beeped and hissed open, its repair cycle complete. Tantrum stepped out of it, already angry. He couldn’t believe that stupid Dino-scrap had taken him down. Next time he wouldn’t show him any mercy, he’d just let loose with his anger and pound him until he was nothing but bits of scrap.

He tilted his head as he received the message from Razorclaw. He let out a snort before responding. >>”Roger that Razorclaw, I’ll be there shortly.”<< The Predacon let out an annoyed sigh as a spark leapt off his horns. Now he was reduced to doing Constructicon work. Maybe he had it coming for losing to some slagging bots.

Tantrum glanced around the room and located a computer console. At least he wouldn’t have to stumble around the base lost this time. He downloaded a map of the tower and made his way to the storage depot where he began rummaging around for the tools he needed.

Outskirts of Polyhex

Grimlock could feel his circuits starting to come back to full power after the effects of the EMP bomb. He would still probably need some time in a CR chamber to get rid of some of the fuzziness he still felt in his head, but he was feeling much better. He briefly toyed with the idea of simply turning around and resuming the fight, but they were already almost out of Polyhex and were likely being monitored right now. The Dinobot leader had no desire to engage the Decepticons in their territory, in a battle they were prepared for with a less than fully functioning team. No, there would have to be another time and place to settle the score with them. He continued to drive their transport out of the town and onto the highway to Iacon.

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

As the doors of the main laboratory opened to allow Darkwing and Dreadwind to enter it, Shockwave turned to give them a quick glance before turning his gaze back on his work. He was not absent minded enough to not notice what happened around him like some other scientist types, particularly several Autobots but he was not going to waste any of his energon or time for any formalities.

"Good. You have arrived." The ancient Decepticon addressed the two troubled sparks that had entered his domain while the door behind them entered safety lockdown mode. "Due to your ideal behavior patterns, you have been selected to take part on several tests I will be running with energon refined from ore-13. These tests will not place you in any danger under my supervision, however once the tests have began they will run their full course and cannot be stopped."

The truth was that Doom and Gloom just happened to be the Decepticons that would likely cause the least amount of problems when superloaded. Predacons were just too unpredictable, Swindle and Blackwind too predictable and Thunderwing was not a option. Darkwing would become a problem more likely than Dreadwind but Shockwave calculated that his own power was going to be easily enough to dispatch either or both of them if required.

"We will begin." He stated as coldly as always and motioned the duo to move next to device holding two large cylinders of refined ore-13. "Connect yourself this device and let it drain your systems down to 5% operational efficiency. With 5% limit reached, the device will start fueling your systems with energon that has been refined from ore-13. Once you have been fully fueled we will perform several stress tests."

Darkwing and Dreadwind silently listened as Shockwave laid out the reasons they had been chosen for this experiment. Despite his reassurances that the testing would be safe and that they had been chosen due to their ‘ideal behavior patterns’ both of them suspected there was another reason they had been chosen. They were both highly expendable. They didn’t need to speak to know that’s what they were both thinking. It was the story of their lives in the Decepticon army.

The two Decepticons followed Shockwave as he motioned them over to some sort of device. Shockwave explained the experiment to them and this time the two flier exchanged looks. Draining away their energy was always a bad idea in these days when it seemed fuel was always in high demand, not to mention the fact that they were, for all intents and purposes, on a dead world. Finding a reliable fuel source wasn’t exactly going to be easy. Was Shockwave planning to harvest energy from other Decepticons to keep himself function? It was a bit ghoulish, but neither of them would put it past the commander, or their luck.

Dreadwind, always assuming and prepared for an imminent death simply let out a resigned sigh before connecting himself to the device and began draining out his energy. “As you order Commander,” Darkwing said, speaking to cover up some of his nervousness as he hooked himself up to the device.

As the energy began to drain out of both of them it had quite a noticeable effect on them. Their optics began to dim and shoulders slumped. By the time they had reached 5% both of them were barely standing, knees bent and arms hanging at their sides. It wouldn’t take much for them to simply fall into stasis lock at this point.

The device now activated and began feeding them the refined energon from ore-13. there was an immediate effect on both of them. Optics flashed and postures straightened as the energon flowed through their systems. “Oh yeah! That’s good stuff!” Darkwing declared. Dreadwind looked confused. “I feel….alive? I think?”

Shockwave’s Tower – Storage Depot

After a bit of rummaging around Tantrum found the tools he thought Razorclaw would need. Part of him wanted to simply smash all of the tools beneath his feet. This work was for drones and not a warrior like himself. He knew better than to disobey his leader, though angry sparks continued to leap from his horns. Scooping up some panels and lugging the tools in his other hand, he made his way out of the room and then out of the base.

Base Perimeter

The Predacon fueler wasn’t known for his speed but it still didn’t take him too long to reach Razorclaw’s position. He figured the sooner he got there the sooner this stupid assignment would be over and maybe they could move on to something else. “Got everything you need Razorclaw, I think.” He dumped the equipment out on the ground.

With Darkwing and Dreadwind finally gathering their courage and feeding the ore-13 derivant into their systems, Shockwave was finally able to observe the effect of the ultra energon the way he wanted. "The rise of your energy levels are in line with my calculations."

"A word of warning. It would be wasteful to test your new found power on me." He added, his sole optic flashing eeriely. It was a warning. The duo would not stand a chance against him even with their current power levels.

Shockwave moved over to an enormous electro-hydralic press, utilized for measuring strength levels of test subjects or just downright compacting waste into more manageable size for recycling. While Shockwave expected the duo to perform well over their stardard strength levels there was no fear of the press being damaged by either of the two. "Darkwing, your strength levels will be measured first. Step under the press cylinder and push against it with all of your power until you cannot continue. The press is has a safety function, you will not be crushed."

With the orders given to Darkwing, Shockwave turned his attention to Dreadwind. "Prepare you weapons and proceed to the firing range there. The energy measurement field in the end of the firing line will measure your firepower. Keep on firing until you cannot continue."

"After the conclusion of the first tests, you will re-energize yourselves and switch places."

Razorclaw waited patiently for Tantrum to arrive with the materials he required. As he did so, the Predacon Commander opened a comm line to the other two Predacons working around the base perimeter:

>>”Rampage! Headstrong! Report your progress on the autocannon repairs you are currently doing.”<< A few astroseconds passed before Razorclaw received a response from his subordinates. Rampage and Headstrong were on the opposite side of the tower and had successfully brought one of the autocannons online. They were now moving on to another one. >>"Excellent. Continue on and report to me with any problems you encounter. Razorclaw out.”<<

A few more cycles went by before the newly repaired Predacon fueler finally appeared and dumped the equipment on the ground. “Yes, you did well, Tantrum. Everything I need appears to be here,” Razorclaw responded as he knelt down and grabbed a torch along with a piece of scrap metal. “Too bad you weren’t as successful against the Dinobot Snarl. I expect much better from you the next time we face them. Is that understood?”

The Predacon Commander then turned and placed the metal piece over the crack in the side of the autocannon. Using his torch, he quickly welded it into place and then moved over to the control console. After punching a few keys, the autocannon hummed to life as Razorclaw programmed it to fire on any unauthorized intruders, especially any Autobots, that attempted to approach the tower. “There, we are done here. Let’s move on. Tantrum, grab the equipment and follow me.”

Razorclaw then moved away from the newly restored autocannon and headed around the perimeter to the next one.

Swindle looked from the mound of rubble he stood upon, at the Predacons at work, and flipped his comm unit to Razorclaws frequency. >>Sir, the sensor network has been fully installed, checked, rechecked, reinitialised and checked again just to make sure. It's operational. Now, I notice you're working on defense turrets. Would you like me to take one or two? I think I saw some usable spare parts lying about.<<

Swindle wasn't really in the mood to work longer out here, but he wasn't up for returning to Shockwaves tower either. At least out here, he could do something vaguely interesting, fixing decent weaponry, even if it did mean having to interact with Predacons...

Dreadwind almost smiled when Darkwing was sent to the hydraulic press. The device was just one broken cable away from being a powerful killing machine to anyone who was testing it. He was sure it would fail while Darkwing was in it, crushing him and extinguishing his spark in an instant. Of course his satisfaction of having outlived the other Decepticon would likely only last seconds, if that long. The collapse of the device would send debris and shrapnel hurtling through the room. It wouldn’t take much for that to punch through his spark chamber and end his own miserable existence.

Darkwing moved towards the press with some confidence. Normally he would be a bit more hesitant about this sort of thing. This test, despite Shockwave’s assurances, was just a death trap waiting to happen. That fuel he had given them though really had him energized. He hadn’t felt this good in a long time, if ever. He walked under the press and began pressing against it. Darkwing could feel it pressing back against him, but he felt like he could hold up the whole world now. The Decepticon flier knew he was pushing back against a greater force then he ever had in the past. Maybe there was something to this special new fuel.

Dreadwind kept one optic locked on Darkwing as he went through the shooting range. He was surprised to see the other Decepticon do so well, better than he ever had before. As a matter of fact he was feeling different himself. He was blowing away the targets in spectacular explosions. It was enough to almost make him feel happy, or whatever would be happy for the gloomy Decepticon.

A stray spark leapt off of Tantrum’s horns as Razorclaw lightly scolded him for his failure in the battle earlier. He let out an angry snort before speaking. “It won’t happen again Razorclaw. This time they were ready for us, won’t be next time. Next time the Dinobot will finish the battle in pieces.”

The Predacon watched as his commander went to work on the autocannon, repairing and patching it with relative ease. He bit back some grumbling when Razorclaw asked him to carry the equipment. Hopefully they would get another shot at the Dinobots soon. It was either that or he was going to have to smash something just to relieve his slowly building rage.

As Razorclaw approached the next autocannon he received Swindle's transmission. The sensor network was finally up and running at full capacity. Without stopping, the Predacon Commander opened a comm line back to the weapons dealer:

>>"Excellent work, Swindle. There are some additional autocannons on the eastern side of the tower. You may work on those. The quicker we can get all of them operational the better. We cannot allow the enemy to simply walk into our territory unchecked again. The defenses must be restored. If you have any problems, alert me at once. Razorclaw out."<<

Once the communique was terminated, the Predacon leader walked up to and stopped in front of another autocannon. His optics quickly scanned over the large weapon, looking for damage or other signs of deterioration caused by vorns of neglect. The cannon was covered with filth, but otherwise it appeared to be intact. Perhaps this one will be a bit easier to restore than the last.

Razorclaw made his way to the back of the autocannon where he accessed the control console. He punched in a few commands and brought up the overall system status on the display screen. Everything checked out okay with one notable exception. The primary fuel cell was almost empty. At the current low level it was barely able to power the console let alone enable the weapon to fire a shot of any magnitude. This will not do, Razorclaw thought as he turned to the Predacon fueler who was bringing up the rear.

"Tantrum! Your assistance here is required. The autocannon's main power cell is near empty. Without enough energon the weapon is useless and leaves this area open to attack. I want you to hook up one of your external fuel tanks to that outlet and begin recharging the cell immediately." Razorclaw then turned his attention back to the display screen in order to monitor the status of the power cell.

Shockwave stared attentively at the readings his various scanning equipment were gathering from both Darkwing and Dreadwind. The tests were going as predicted but his scanners were starting to pick up growing unstability in the reading he was getting from his two test subjects. This was unlike the true ultra energon when it was still found naturally on Cybertron. This meant that either the ultra energon on Earth was not fully developed yet or the planet's crust had an unexpected effect on the natural evolution of energon veins. Too bad Shockwave had not been able to see his project through, he was certain he could have corrected the issue. Nevertheless, even at its current potency, the energon refined from ore-13 seemed extremely promising.

"Darkwing, you are performing 45,541 percent above your average level of function. Dreadwind on the other hand has been able pump 51,642 percent more energy through his weapon feed ports than on average." Shockwave stated, as monotone as ever. "Continue."

>>Acknowledged, Razorclaw.<< Swindle transformed and headed off to the site of the autocannons assigned to him. This left him a little away from the other Decepticons, but perhaps that was for the best: He didn't really get along with the violent Predacons. He preferred to deal with mechs he could charm, or at least bribe. The Predacons were too focused on battle for his liking, and didn't have much time for old-style mercantilism. Not the best fodder for Swindles usual approach.

As he absent-mindedly rewired the firing mechanism of a plasma bolt launcher, Swindle mused on who else in the base he might be able to influence. Darkwing and Dreadwind are too dour and gloomy...Maybe that femme Blackwind? She looks like she might not like old One-Eye all that much. Could give me an edge...Still, if she is gonna try anything, I'd have to be careful. Just because Shockwaves not as violent as Megatron doesn't mean horrible things won't happen to you if you cross him...

Base Perimeter

Tantrum stifled a grumble at his latest set of orders. He couldn’t complain too much since this was basically his function. It was boring as the pit, but it was the only thing he was good at, other then destroying stuff.

The Predacon walked over to the autocannon and knelt down. He reached down to the tank on his right leg and slid open an armored panel on it. He pulled a small hose out and connected it to the fuel tank of the weapon. With a thought, internal pumps activated and began sending fuel into the weapon.

The fueler snorted. “How long are we gonna be doing this Razorclaw? I want to get back at those slagging Dinobots.”

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

Darkwing was annoyed to hear that Dreadwind was doing better than him. While the two of them weren’t necessarily competitive it wasn’t often that one did appreciatively better in something then the other did. With a grunt, Darkwing began pressing back against the device even harder.

Dreadwind was surprised at the results as well. Now he was convinced that his guns would explode from over usage. Of course, that wouldn’t necessarily be a fatal accident, but knowing his luck it would be. That might be preferable to whatever Shockwave would do, so he continued to pour fire at the targets.

The two Decepticons continued their tests until finally something began to change. Darkwing felt it first. It was like the rush he had felt when this had started was going in reverse. He quickly fell down to his knees, no longer able to hold the press up any higher, and even that was a struggle as he steadily felt himself dropping lower and lower. He knew that this was where the press would simply crush him and put him out of his miserable existence.

Dreadwind was facing similar problems. He wasn’t able to funnel as much power into his weapons as before. His rate of fire had dropped dramatically, as had the power of the shots. He found it all rather embarrassing and, combined with a wave of weakness passing over him, sent him into a deep depression.

Polyhex - Base Perimeter

Air Raid was scouting the area in search for decepticons, but the only thing he found was wreckage and destruction. The war destroyed the planet, and he was going to make the 'cons pay for it. "The 'cons are going to pay, I'm going to make them pay for what they did to our planet." The white and red mech managed to see something, he didn't know what it was but it was something big.

As Air Raid approached the object, he saw single mech nearby, so he decided to land in a building nearby to get a better view of the large object and the 'con. When he landed on the building he managed to see better his enemy. "Looks like Swindle is all alone, this should be easy." Air Raid took aim at Swindle head but didn't shoot. "I should tell Kup about this before doing anything." For the first time the Aerialbot was going to think before acting.

>>This is Air Raid to base, I'm in Polyhex. I'm in front of what appears to be an autocannon, there is a single mech guarding it, Swindle. He is an easy prey, should I engage?<<

Air Raid wouldn't normally ask permission to attack a 'con, but he respected the old mech enough to ask permission before attacking, and even if he didn't get permission, he could always throw a rock near Swindle. That way the 'con would see him first and he would only be defending himself.

Polyhex - Base Perimeter

As Swindle finished working on the plasma manifold of the autocannon, he noted the datapad he had been using beep in indication. He picked it up again and looked, seeing that there'd been a response from the sensor network he'd spent so long installing. He immediately perked up, and started tracking the signal. He saw a moving signal, not of Decepticon origin, enter....this sector. This subsector. Then he heard the faint noise of something landing behind him.

Don't panic, Swindle. Don't react, just keep working. It's an Autobot, he won't shoot you in the back. They're dumb like that. Just wait for a chance.

Swindle dropped his thermospanner, and as he feigned stooping down to grab it, he clicked his comm unit and began to whisper into it.

>>Razorclaw, theres an Autobot in my sector. I-I think he has a bead on me! Please, I need backup, hurry!<<

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

Shockwave's experiments were interrupted by two perimeter sensor alerts. Another was a clear intruder which was rather surprising so quickly after the Dinobots. Obviously another scout sent by the Autobots. Well, if Razorclaw was as capable as his legend made others believe, the Predacon commander would take care of this without Shockwave having to forward orders for him to do so. Thus, the ancient Decepticon merely ignored the alert for now. The other alert was an expected one. There was no mistake - the signal belonged to Skullcruncher. The sample Shockwave had requested from the Plasma Energy Chamber would soon be in the tower.

Considering that it would still take a while for Skullcruncher and his unit to arrive, Shockwave focused his attention back towards the tests on hand. The tests he was running on Darkwing and Dreadwind were finally starting to reveal the flaws in the refined ore-13 he had been expecting to witness. A dramatic drop of performance after the subjects had been through 0.63 cycles of intensive energy consumption. Some yet to be solved factor in the ore-13 made energon refined out of it extremely instable in limited quantities. The less energon the subject had in his system, the more rapid the consumption.

"Refuel and switch places." Shockwave stated to the gloomy duo of Darkwing and Dreadwind. "I want to compare how you fare with different type of strain to your systems."

“As long as it takes, Tantrum,” Razorclaw responded to his subordinate’s question as he watched the autocannon’s fuel levels rise on the display screen. Once it was at full capacity, the Predacon leader motioned for Tantrum to stop. “That’s enough fuel. The energon cell is full.” And with that, Razorclaw punched a few more keys and the large weapon hummed to life. He then programmed the cannon as he had the previous one and then closed the access panel over the console. “Let’s go, Tantrum. We have more work to do.”

As Razorclaw began to move away from the now functioning autocannon, he received Swindle’s transmission regarding the Autobot spy. >>”Roger that, Swindle. Act as though you don’t see him. I’ll be there to eliminate the problem momentarily.“<<

The Predacon Commander was surprised that another Autobot would show himself in Polyhex so soon after the Dinobots’ defeat. But, no matter. He would take care of the intruder as he would any other – with lethal force. “Tantrum, my presence is required elsewhere. Move on to the next autocannon and try to get it up and running. If you have any problems, just wait for me. I won't be long.”

Razorclaw then turned and transformed into his lion alt mode and darted off towards Swindle’s position. As he went through the ruins of Polyhex, he came upon a crater in the middle of the street that led down into the underground sewer system. Without hesitation, the mechanical lion leapt down and made his way through the darkened tunnels under the city. The Autobot intruder would not see him approaching until it was too late.

Once he was close to Swindle’s position, Razorclaw climbed up the nearest access-hole and entered into a concealed alleyway. Keeping in the shadows, the robotic lion crept low to the ground and peered from around a corner where he could see the arms dealer working on an autocannon a short distance away. The Predacon leader began scanning the area and soon detected an Autobot signature coming from a nearby building.

Razorclaw quickly returned underground again and ran through the tunnels until he came up underneath the building that the Autobot was hiding in. Using another access port, the metal lion entered the structure from below and made his way up to the level where the intruder was hiding. Creeping silently through the shadows, the Predacon Commander finally spotted his prey. It turned out to be Air Raid, one of the Aerialbots. He must’ve been sent on a follow-up scouting mission. Too bad it will be his last!

Razorclaw waited for the right moment to strike and then leapt from the shadows at the unsuspecting Air Raid with the intention of tearing him apart and sending the pieces back to Iacon.

Air Raid was waiting for Kup's response when Swindle dropped his thermospanner. "That 'con better not try anything." Air Raid was ready to shoot at Swindle, he didn't care that much about permission, and he wasn't going to let pass an opportunity like this. The Aerialbot took aim of Swindle's head, but before he could shoot, he heard a noise behind him. As he turned around he saw Razorclaw leaping at him. Before he could react the predacon leader was trying to tear him apart. "This isn't good, I have to get out of here."

With all his strength, wich was nothing compared to that of Razorclaw, the Aerialbot was trying to hold Razorclaw. "You won't beat me Razorclaw." With the last of his strength, Air Raid grabbed his rifle and hit Razorclaw with the butt of it in his left side. When he was able to free himself, Air Raid jumped from the building and transformed in mid-air, flying as fast as he could to Iacon. "This isn't good, I let my guard down, but next time Razorclaw and I face each other, I won't escape, the next time he's going to beg me to let him escape." The Aerialbot was angry, but even if would never admited it, he knew he was no match for Razorclaw, not in close combat at least.

As was sometimes the case, Razorclaw had waited an astrosecond too long before deciding to leap at his prey. Air Raid had somehow heard him and spun around in time to defend himself against the mechanical lion's attack. Razorclaw didn't feel the need to give it his all since his opponent was just a mere Aerialbot and was no real match for the Predacon Commander. Why waste more energon when it wasn't necessary?

"Stupid Autobot! You don't stand a chance against me! I'll rip you to shreds and feast on your spark core!" Razorclaw roared as Air Raid continued to struggle against him. Using the butt of his rifle, the Aerialbot managed to strike the Predacon on the left side of the head and then finally wiggle free. Leaping from the building in order to escape his fate, Air Raid transformed and headed back to Iacon. Razorclaw immediately fired at the fleeing Autobot with his shoulder-mounted concussion cannons, but missed his rapidly retreating target. It was no matter. The intruder had been dealt with and that's all that was really important.

Razorclaw leapt down from the building, landing next to Swindle. "The cowardly Autobot is gone, and I doubt he will return. You should be fine now to complete the repairs on the autocannon. If you run into any more problems, contact me immediately."

The Predacon Commander then took off running on all fours back around the base perimeter, heading for the location of the next autocannon where he hoped that Tantrum was already hard at work repairing it.

Polyhex - Base Perimeter

Swindle shakily continues his work after Razorclaws confirmation, working the Omnispanner jerkily, straining his auditory sensors to hear the Autobot, hoping the click of his tools wouldn't hide the click of the gun....

Then there was a noise behind him, a clap of metal on metal, and the munitions specialist whips around, scatter-blaster drawn. He sees his commander, Razorclaw, struggling with the Autobot who'd almost got him, Air Raid. He watches as the Autobot desperately wrestles himself away from the Predacon and flies off. Swindle finds himself breathing a sigh of relief.

As Razorclaw makes his leave, Swindle makes a grateful salute. "Y-yes sir!! You'll know instantly of any more incidents." Then he turns back to the autocannon. And so will I. I'd better fix this thing ASAP...Maybe I can connect it to the new sensors and adjust its auto-fire protocols for better response time. A few shots wasted on Petro-squirrels will be worth it if it avoids a repeat of that kind of incident. Swindle shudders at the thought of being caught off-guard again. Razorclaw might not be in as much a rush next time.

Shockwave's Tower - The Main Laboratory

Predated by the lab's surveillance computer's report about who was about to enter the lab - the blast doors of the main laboratory opened, revealing a small group of Decepticons. Four Decepticons to be exact. There was Squawkbox, the combined form of a purple apelike monster known as Beastbox and Squawktalk, a flying creature resembling an eagle. Far more eye catching however was Overkill, a fierce, far larger white and blue mechanoid who resembled the various bipedal carnivores that had ruled the Earth during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Perhaps the most curious detail there was however the fact that Overkill was kept on a short leash by even larger Decepticon, a hulking brute as large as a Dinobot, Skullcruncher.

"Commander Shockwave." Skullcruncher greeted their commanding officer and saluted briefly, as did Squawkbox who was smart enough to keep his mouth shut for once.

"Skullcruncher." Shockwave said, turning his single optic towards the lab entrance. "Inquiry: Have you acquired the plasma sample?"

"I have it right here commander. Mightly glad your device worked too." Skullcruncher grunted and moved out of the way of a hoverboard carrying a container filled with plasma from the depths of Cybertron.

Shockwave's optic flashed in response to Skullcruncher's comment about the test unit he had equipped the hulking marine with. All the equipment he had put through tests worked. Always. This was hardly a case of Megatron forcing him to put unfinished equipment on the field. We was not about to make an issue out of it, the quick glare he gave to Skullcruncher would have to suffice.

"Excellent." He merely said activated his communications unit. >>"Thunderwing, Razorclaw, report to the main laboratory at once."<<

As Razorclaw made his way around the base perimeter, he received Shockwave's transmission ordering him to report to the main laboratory immediately. The Predacon Commander didn't like to take orders as he would rather give them. However, he also knew his place within the hierarchy of the Decepticon Empire and thus he would do as he was told. >>"Acknowledged, Shockwave."<<

The mechanical lion altered his previous course and headed back towards the tower. As he did so, he opened a comm line to Swindle: >>"Swindle, this is Razorclaw. There's been a slight change of plans. Once you are done with the autocannon you are currently working on, I want you to go help out Tantrum with further repairs on the rest of the autocannons around the perimeter. Understood?"<<

Razorclaw then opened another channel to his subordinate: >>"Tantrum, I'm sending Swindle to help you with the rest of the repairs. I'm needed back at the tower."<< The Predacon leader switched off his comm link and made his way into Shockwave's Tower.

Shockwave's Tower - Main Laboratory

Razorclaw entered the room and transformed back into his robot mode. He immediately noticed the presence of Skullcruncher and his squad of beasts. The Predacon Commander also saw that Dreadwind and Darkwing were being put through some rigorous tests that seemed to strain their systems to the max. It was a sight that made Razorclaw smile as he knew that ol' doom and gloom most likely thought they would not survive to see the next cycle.

Razorclaw then approached his commanding officer and gave a respectful salute. "Reporting as ordered, Commander Shockwave. My team has made great progress on the outer base defenses and should have the autocannons fully operational within a few more cycles. I also engaged one Autobot intruder who was attempting to spy on Swindle. I took care of him without incident. Now, how may I be of service, my lord?"
