Attention mortals - while working hard to make the review for the G2 Combaticon box set, my minions have discovered a flaw with the Onslaught figure which not only affected mine, but at least one other. If it affects all of the Onslaught figures, then there may be a factory issue that needs to be addressed.
The issue is with the legs. The joint which connects the thigh sections to the shin sections has a small spur on it which, on the G1 version of CW Onslaught, is pointing OUTWARDS away from the plastic of the shin.
But with G2 Onslaught, those joints were put in backwards, and the spur is pointing inwards towards the plastic of the shins.
When transforming to robot mode, this causes the spur to mash into the plastic of the shins. This causes warping, cracking, and forcing the plastic of the shins out of place.
Since it seems to be an issue with at least two of these sets, there is a potential that ALL of them might be like this, or at least a very large portion of them might be like this. If your G2 Onslaught has this problem, exercise extreme care when transforming to robot mode. You may also wish to NOT transform the legs properly by rotating that joint to it's 90 degree position. This will leave Onslaught's legs floppy and longer, but prevent any damage.
Obviously it would be better to have them assembled properly. Maybe shaving off that spur would resolve the issue, but for Death's part - I will be contacting HTS and Hasbro to see if this is something that may require a recall or replacement....
If your G2 Onslaught is like this, post here. The more evidence the better. And even if your G2 Onslaught doesn't have this issue, report here as well. That way we can know if it affects everyone, or just a few people.
Love and hugs,
Death
