I found this article and thought it was funny. It kind of shows how the world feels about President Bush in my opinion.

Priests To Purify Site After Bush Visit
(AP) GUATEMALA CITY Mayan priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate "bad spirits" after President Bush visits next week, an official with close ties to the group said Thursday.
"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization with close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders, said Thursday.
Bush's seven-day tour of Latin America includes a stopover beginning late Sunday in Guatemala. On Monday morning he is scheduled to visit the archaeological site Iximche on the high western plateau in a region of the Central American country populated mostly by Mayans.
Tiney said the "spirit guides of the Mayan community" decided it would be necessary to cleanse the sacred site of "bad spirits" after Bush's visit so that their ancestors could rest in peace. He also said the rites -- which entail chanting and burning incense, herbs and candles -- would prepare the site for the third summit of Latin American Indians March 26-30.
Bush's trip has already has sparked protests elsewhere in Latin America, including protests and clashes with police in Brazil hours before his arrival. In Bogota, Colombia, which Bush will visit on Sunday, 200 masked students battled 300 riot police with rocks and small homemade explosives.
The tour is aimed at challenging a widespread perception that the United States has neglected the region and at combatting the rising influence of Venezuelan leftist President Hugo Chavez, who has called Bush "history's greatest killer" and "the devil."
Iximche, 30 miles west of the capital of Guatemala City, was founded as the capital of the Kaqchiqueles kingdom before the Spanish conquest in 1524.

I'd want the preists to to eliminate "bad spirits" after bush leaves. He seems to pi** of a lot of people whereever he goes. I wouldn't be surprised if the spirits don't like him either.

They should fumigate that site, too, while they're at it. Bush-cooties, ugh!

I hope Bush reads that, then goes back and drops a Presidential deuce on their precious "holy" site.
Or has a real priest bless it in the name of Jesus.

He's not persecuting it in said post-- merely showing his thoughts on the way he was treated. And if Mayan priests can bless something, why not a Jesus one? They're not hindering or restricting anything by blessing it too.

Saying "Real" prists worship Jesus? If anything, that's ignorant. I don't know if it's persecution, but it's definately intolerant.
But it's not Bush they should feel bad spirits from. It's really only necessary from someone we KNOW is pure evil.

You have to take the spin for what it is. The Indians were most likely going to cleanse the area for the summit regardless of whether Bush was there or not. I would imagine it is a ritual for them before any Gathering.
It's amazing, you throw Bush in the sentence and everyone goes ape $h-t. Who is this 'Official'? What ties does he have to the group. Maybe he's an official turd. Maybe his buddies grandfather is a member of the 'group'. The article doesn't offer any of that info.
A little more assurance is needed before one can ultimately believe the cleansing is because of Bush.

Strikes me as odd that they'd invite him if they thought he was going to bring "bad spirits".
Anyway, a local Maori tribe managed to con a large sum of money out of the govt to go spray their version of holy water over a nasty stretch of road way to purify the place and send on the "trapped spirits".
Why I have absolutely no care for what the Maoris think in regards to spirits and deities I do find it rather PC and down right hypocrtical that a supposed secular govt. would fork over tax dollars to fund a ceremony of a particular faith. If I asked the NZL govt to fund my confirmation or some other Catholic shin dig they'd tell me to piss off.
Something memorable here.
