Transformers Collection:

OK, long time reader/lurker, first time poster. Welcome to critique or suggestions on my collection/layout.

Top shelf, I collect mainly Classics/Generations etc or related Transformers, big fan of the IDW comics, and the WFC/FOC games. I've tried to, where possible, keep the same molds, or different molds of the same characters together.

Starting from the left-hand side, front to back

The 'Cons

Image

Takara Armada Starscream
Hasbro Universe Acid storm (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays and Missile Pods, so far the only second-hand/opened purchase)
Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Elites Dirge (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays)
Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Elites Ramjet (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays)
Hasbro Generations Sky Shadow
Takara United Thunderwing

Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Aces Starscream (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays and Missile Pods)
Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Aces Thundercracker (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays and Missile Pods)
Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Aces Skywarp (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays and Missile Pods)
Takara United Asia Exclusive Seeker Elites Thrust (With Guilty G-04 Nullrays)
Takara Generations Ratbat
Hasbro ROTF Lockdown (Appeared in IDW's Drift, MTMTE, Spotlight Trailcutter, so why not?)

Takara Generations Exclusive Infiltrator Starscream
Takara Generations Thundercracker
Hssbro Generations Skywarp
Takara United Scourge
Takara Generations Blitzwing (with SXS-A03J Upgrades - new head, shoulder fix and missiles)

Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Ravage (With MGS-03 addon Missiles)
Takara United Cybertronian Soundwave
Takara Generations Megatronus
Hasbro Generations Dreadwing
Takara United Straxus
Unique Toys Mania King/Galvatron (with a couple of Decepticon sigils courtesy of Reprolabels)

Takara United Frenzy & Rumble (not going into who's which colour here ;) - Added bonus is that this seems to be the design used in the RiD/Dark Cybertron comics)
Takara Generations Waspinator
Hasbro Exclusive Nike Megatron (sans gridiron ball replica - Robotkingdom loose purchase, was cheap[ish], looks cool, why not?)
Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Galvatron (yep, it's actually a Hasbro product, not Takara as advertised online)

Takara United Wipe-Out
Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Astrotrain
Hasbro Generations Minicon Assault Team/Centuritron
Hasbro Generations FOC Shockwave
Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Octane
Maketoys Green Giant Type 61/Devastator (With Reprolabels)

The 'Bots (There's always more)

Image

Hasbro Generations Scoop
Hasbro Generations Warpath (with iGear Pistols and missile tail shortened so it no longer sticks out the back)
Hasbro Generations Kup (with iGear "Cygar" head and iGear weapons)
Takara Generations Springer (with Dr Wu Rainstorm chaingun)
Hasbro Generations Metroplex holding the Reveal The Shield "Battle in Space" Exclusive Matrix of Leadership (yeah, had to)

Takara United Wreck-Gar riding Hasbro Generations Junkheap in alt mode (Because he can)
Hasbro Generations Sandstorm
Planet X Caelus/Swoop (With several Autobot sigils courtesy of reprolables, sitting on Metroplex' shoulder in alt mode because he doesn't fit in my FOC shelves, and is so awesome he needs to be displayed prominently)

Takara United Bumblebee (With Fansproject pistol from G3 Trailer, considering Goldbug modification options)
Takara Generations Gold Bumblebee (with Dr Pistol and Walking Cane)
Takara Generations Orion Pax

Hasbro Generations Scamper
Takara United Windcharger
Hasbro Generations GDO Cliffjumper
Takara United Jazz (with Dr Wu Rainstorm Pistol - straight out of AHM)
Takara Henkei Smokescreen
Takara United Tracks
Takara Henkei Skyfire (Recent release, with white missiles)

Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Mirage (With Fansproject shoulder missile from G3 Trailer)
Takara United Blurr
Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Ironhide
Hasbro Universe Prowl
Hasbro Prime: Robots in Disguise Wheeljack(Sleeker than Generations version, closer to RiD comic version imo, and to differentiate more from Tracks but I really need to do something about that head...)
Hasbro Generations Whirl (Replaced canopy Autobot Sigil with more obvious white Reprolabels sticker)

Image
(There's something that's "More than Meets the Eye" with this end of the shelf...)

Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Specialist Hound (With MGS-03 Weapons, Jerry Cans and shoulder weapon support)
Takara United Drift
Hasbro Generations Red Alert (with Fansproject Shoulder Missile from G3 Trailer)
Takara Henkei Hot Rodimus with KO Fansproject Protector Armour & Official Sidearm/Gold "wings" (With one very small, hard to see, white Autobot sigil courtesy of Reprolabels)

Hasbro Generations Swerve (With Maketoys M.F.B.)
Takara Generations Trailcutter (With X2Toys XT003 Metallic Weapons/addons)
Hasbro Reveal The Shield "Battle in Space" Exclusive Cyclonus (With some chromed sword that looks like Drift's that came with KO Fansproject City Commander for some reason - and after MTMTE, he's not really a Decepticon)
Hasbro Reveal The Shield Perceptor (With iGear Sniper Rifle)

(Hasbro Generations Cosmos & Tailgate go here when they arrive)
Takara Generations Hoist (With X2Toys XT003 Metallic Weapons/addons)
Hasbro Generations Skids
Hasbro Universe Sunstreaker
KO Takara Henkei Ultra Magnus with KO Fansproject City Commander Armour (With Official Fansproject Weapons and a few Autobot Sigils courtest of Reprolabels, that free set of white on clear labels is getting a workout here!)

Onto the lower level

FOC Shelf 1

Image

I played Fall of Cybertron before I did War for Cybertron, so these designs are FOC first and foremost in my mind. Mostly Takara Generations line, but pretty much whichever deco I prefer (Shiny).

Takara Generations FOC Optimus Prime
Takara United Cybertronian Clifjumper
Hasbro Generations FOC Air Raid (I prefer the red over the Takara version)
Takara Generations FOC Grimlock

Takara United Cybertronian Bumblebee
Takara Generations FOC Jazz
Takara Generations FOC Sideswipe
Takara Generations FOC Kickback
Takara Generations FOC Ultra Magnus
Takara Generations FOC Bruticus (Combined form of Onslaught , Swindle, Brawl, Vortex and Blastoff, with extra copy of Onslaught's weapon)

Hasbro Generations FOC Frenzy & Rumble (Again, you decide who's who)
Hasbro Generations FOC Ravage
Takara United Exclusive Darkside Megatron (Not game accurate, but meh, awesome deco)
Takara Generations FOC Starscream
Takara Generations FOC Skywarp
Hasbro Generations Thundercracker (Repurposed, not as shiny as Takara version on top shelf, so it's back here)
Hasbro Generations FOC Soundwave with Generations FOC Laserbeak perched on his shoulder (First retail purchase that kicked off this collection craze)

FOC Shelf 2

Image

Back with this range, I ended up collecting almost all the Hasbro AND Takara Deluxes. Held off on any more voyagers or discs though, they didn't seem to fit what I was aiming for at the time.

Hasbro Generations "Rage over Cybertron" Exclusive Optimus Prime
Hasbro Generations Cybertronian Cliffjumper
Hasbro Generations "Rage over Cybertron" Exclusive Bumblebee
Hasbro Generations FOC Grimlock

Hasbro Generations FOC Ultra Magnus
Hasbro Generations FOC Sideswipe
Hasbro Generations FOC Jazz
Hasbro Generations FOC Optimus Prime
Takara Generations FOC Air Raid (All alone, only Takara TF on the shelf)
Hasbro Generations FOC Bruticus (Combined form of Onslaugh, Swindle, Brawl, Vortex and Blastoff, missing one of Vortex' swords)

Hasbro Generations "Rage over Cybertron" Exclusive Megatron
Hasbro Generations FOC Starscream
Hasbro Generations FOC Kickback

Extras Shelf 1

Image

Any duplicates of characters on the other shelves that don't fit in, or just don't fit in at all have their space here

Hasbro Generations Orian Pax (Replaced by Takara version. Shiny)
Takara United Warpath (Generations Warpath's colour wins out here for me, missile tail shortened so it no longer sticks out the back)
Takara United Exclusive Darkside Optimus Prime (Awesome deco, but doesn't fit in with the other displays)
Takara Generations Onslaught (Duplicate - this one has a manufacturing defect that prevents his arm from locking in place in combined mode - his weapon has gone to the combiner team on FOC Shelf 1 to make a bigger gun)

Hasbro Generations Armada Starscream (More comic accurate than the Takara version, but... doesn't look as nice - I'm shallow)
Hasbro Generations IDW Megatron (Replaced by more accurate Takara version)
Hasbro Generations Waspinator (Replaced by shinier Takara version - not a BW fan, so show accuracy doesn't matter. Shiny)
Hasbro Classics Bumbleebee (Replaced by Takara version. Shiny)
Hasbro Generations Wheeljack

Hasbro Generations Trailcutter (Replaced by Takara version)
Takara United Rodimus Convoy (Replaced by Henkei version at a much later date - good price and the Henkei's arms don't fall off at the slightest touch - makes working with the Protector armour much easier)
Hasbro Reveal The Shield "Battle in Space" Exclusive Rodimus (Cartoon accurate, but too cartoony, only bought as I wanted that Cyclonus packaged with him)
Hasbro Generations IDW Bumblebee (Replaced by less eye-searing Takara Gold Bumbleebee, considering Hubcap modification options)
Hasbro Generations Goldfire (Currently headless. Yep. Broke his head. Will have to superglue together one day, though could make a nice zombie-bot, or leave in alt-mode...)

Extras Shelf 2

Image

Big stuff. Somewhere to store said big stuff other than the floor, and for any future overflow from the other shelves.

Fansproject G3 Trailer
KO Fansproject Protector Trailer/Tank/Gun Thing
iGear Weapons Crate (Came with the weapons I've given Kup, Warpath & Perceptor, looks too cool to throw out)

From the pictures on the top shelf at least, you can see there's a few gaps/spaces, leading on to...

Wants/To Get/waiting/Maybe?
Have standing pre-orders on all upcoming Generations deluxe releases...
Can't wait for Legends Cosmos and Tailgate to arrive, already on Preorder.
Wanting: Decent Classics/Gen Optimus Prime, thinking Cloud version, unless I can get a good price on a Henkei
Wanting: Decent Megatron - awaiting news on upcoming Leader class.
Leader Class Jetfire is a tempting replacement to Henkei Skyfire
Universe/Henkei Sideswipe - Sunstreaker needs his brother
Would love the Botcon Seekers, but out of my budget atm.
Have TFCC Chromedome on pre-order, still on the fence about keeping/cancelling though
Been umm'ing and ahh'ing about Planet X' Genesis since announcement/release, as the game figures are what got me started, but cost/size... not sure. Would be nice for Devastator to have a challenger (Metroplex doesn't count)
Contemplating Takara Arms Micron Wildrider - looks cool, and Lockdown's a little lonely amongst all the Autobot cars.
Considering pre-ordering the Hasbro Generations Asia Exclusive Kup/Perceptor/Ratchet. As I need a Ratchet. And Shiny.
Do I replace Generations Swerve with Maketoys' version? I have no interest in Gears as a character, so it;' a lot for just Swerve...
If only KFC's Citizen Stack was Classics scaled (Cab-size matching Classics Prime/Magnus) rather than Masterpiece... Too big for my collection.

Big fan of the games as well so I mainly I collect just the figures based of that from the Generations line. But still have a few others.
Do you also have limited shelf space? they look cool clumped together but I think sometimes it takes away from an indiviual character.

Yeah not much room - 2 bedroom rental and that's just one side of a multi-purpose room. Barely had enough roo to set up the lighting stands to take those shots. I also like the fact that they look like an army. A force to be reckoned with.

I guess I could have used the top shelf of my computer desk (where I shot the pics for my http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/takara-exclusive-infiltrator-starscream-review-t99676.php]Infiltrator Starscream Review, but the slightest knock on anywhere on the desk would cause figures to take a tumble.

I do "rotate" each character around, so everyone gets their turn at the front (except voyagers and larger, they're easy enough to see regardless)

Thanks. Yeah I'm a sucker for a shiny paint job.

Managed to find a Henkei Lambor for a decent price, so should have Sideswipe in position sometime next week.

On a scale on one to awesome, this is at least mega wicked.

Seriously, your Classics shelf makes me all kinds of jelly.
