Has anyone ever tried to make a custom TF from scratch? Like just try and make one? I have been thinking up ways to do so, and I think soon, I might try. Just was a bit curious.

It has been done a number of times actually. I know someone is currently making a scaled version of Metroplex from scratch.

The www helps Macross. But like he said check it out. Several amazing Scratchbuilds can be found on there. WWI Grimlock, WWI Megatron are two of the coolest, lots of simpler customs made from existing bots as well.

Does anyone still have the link to the Asian TF website where they made a Victory Leo out of a Galaxy Force WingSaber?

I want to build one, an alternator type sized bot, but from scratch, sorta like an original, anyone has any ideas as how to begin the build? I was thinking on getting a plastic model vehicle, and darw out specs, but I need a huminoid shape, thats the hard part. It needs to be able to contort alot, any ideas on that?

Is it cheating to start with an existing figure, say a Marvel posable Spiderman? Or at least use it as a model to build the core pieces; you know, for joint possibilities etc. I imagine there are numerous toys and information to reference.

I thought of that, and even maybe some gundam toys for the mech look. I want to do a practice test run, so I dont want to spend alot. Maybe I'll just make a non-transformable proto and then see if I can make it transform fully in another proto.

I have ocaisionally found some really cheap knockoffs (look like Gundam but not really...) at dollar stores and such. Give that a try if you get a chance. It'll give you some really cheap options.

Yeah, what I am going to do, is get the car model 1st, and work off that....hopefully by tomorrow I'll be in more of a clear path.

I know two Japanese Transformers kitbashing type sites.

1. This site has a few "boards" of kitbashes and a couple of artwork. http://transformers.hp.infoseek.co.jp/

2. And this one which has some really cool stuff but no Victory Leo. Still good though. http://jizaitoys.seesaa.net/
