From that far back you would need to re-post an application for him and we'll go from there.

Targetmasters don't exist yet in this game. The best thing is to post an app of Spinister without them which should be fairly easy.

I think my post to this wasn't transferred over from the site's old server. Anyhow, there are no Targetmasters, Headmasters or any other kinds of 'Masters'. If you want you can check out the Game History and Notes thread for more info on this subject and others.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick reply on the character question!

I see you folk like canon characters, and I would love to partake of some canon 'formers as well

Was wondering: Is there a sort of 'List of the Dead' I missed in perusing the RP Info? If I was looking for characters like Straxus or Impactor, who are alive or dead depending on which G1 continuity you were looking at, or lesser canon characters like Windsweeper or Flame/Laster, who easily could've been dead already in the continuity, I was just wondering if it was handled on a case by case or if there was a reference page to look of of "yeah, this is a war, so this one is dead and this one and this one and this one..."

Also, is there a posting I missed for NPC rules? I know it's always useful to have some players willing to bolster the NPC ranks, and would be more than willing, but I am not familiar with how the NPCs work in this game...

No problemo.

To my knowledge, without giving it an excess of thought, there aren't any characters who are officially dead, and thus inapplicable for that particular reason. But there are plenty of characters that are restricted from new (or newer) players until we all get a sense of how said player will contribute to the game and if it looks like they're going to stick around. Returning players fall under that same umbrella. Those are just subjective, mod calculations. Not much official. For example, of the characters you mentioned up there, Windsweeper is the only one who would be ideal for a newcomer. The others would even be only reluctantly given out to established players, and even then, only with a good long-term plan in mind. Most any characters from the Japanese continuity fall under that umbrella: theoretically approvable but exceedingly unlikely unless the right mix of circumstances come together.

As for NPCs, no super official process there either. Easier that way, since they're basically just a benefit to the game at large since they're sort of being used in the game but also still available for application. After you get your first character in and rolling, you just talk to a mod about who you're interested in NPCing and we'll see what we can do.

Are my characters allowed to develop? I mean change and deviate from the stuff that is in their profile. But are we allowed to change some character's personality traits when things happen, life-changing experiences, events, stuff?

This could be too much of a human trait, but if yes, then I would like my current/future characters to be more dynamic, able to develop and change with time.

Am I and other normal players able to create cannon character profiles for other people, and not play them ourselves? I would assume that if that was possible then a sample post wouldn't be necessary.

If I'm understanding the gist of your question correctly, yes.

For example, if I wanted to get a friend who wasn't in the game to play on the rpg and the only thing holding him back was not wanting to make a profile of the canon character in question (and we didn't have one already. We have quite a few in the profiles section and in archive section of the older RPGs. That's where I found Grapple) then I could choose to cobble together a profile for him if I thought it was worth the effort. That player would still need to do their own sample post though, so we can see their specific skills in action.

I would like to add to Sid's response that the other player would still have to post for the character under their name and not yours. We have people helping out with profiles behind the scenes quite often.

I thought about joining the RPG and bringing in Ion Storm (one of the Rainmakers) which has been my character for the last 5 years and before he became official last year. My profile for him is much more extensive than what is on TFwiki.

That would make for a neat read. You're welcome to post it in the applications thread and give it a shot. With characters or profiles like that, the mods just want to make sure that it fits within the boundaries of the world we've all built. It might be good to go as is. If there's some things that need tweaked, we'll mention them in our reply. :D

(Side note: if you could uncheck the attach signature box when posting in the rpg section, we'd all appreciate. Keeps page times loading their fastest for everyone.)

Sorry about that in terms of my sig...I will remember to do that.

In terms of Ion Storm, he is still a new canon character and there is not much on him on the TFwiki site. I certainly can modify his lengthy profile if needed to fit him in. I am pretty flexible with him. He is a fun character to play so to speak. ;)

Greetings All:

I am an old time RPGer who had to give it up years ago due to time. I am now a stay at home daddy and have found plenty of time while the kiddo is in Day Care. I am looking to join Seibertron, but have a few general questions.

1. I am definitely going to put in for a G1 character...not sure who yet. Would you guys allow a fan made team of Seekers as well? My idea is to create a team that work in unison, a la the 'Rainmakers'.

2. If so, would they be subject to the 70 point rule for fan mades, or could I go a little outside the box and keep them right in line with (stat-wise), say the Coneheads?

Thank you very much. I should be posting a G1 application hopefully tonite. Thanks again.

Hello, MrSludge! Welcome to Seibertron's RPG! Let me see if I can answer your questions for you.

1. There is no rule against a fan made team of Transformers, whether they be seekers or otherwise, so it's definitely doable. Bare in mind, however, that newcomers to the RPG are only allowed three characters to start with. Over time, once they have proven themselves capable of handling those characters, more can then be added. Thus, this might delay your seeker team for a bit. I'm not sure if you've ever written here before, so it might not be as long before you can add more than 3 characters.

2. Generally, we stick to the 70 point rule, but we are open to exceptions if they are within reason. When the time comes for your seekers we will certainly take a look at them and see what can be worked out.

I hope I have answered your questions well. If you have any furthers inquiries just let me or any of the mods here know. Again, welcome and I look forward to seeing your first application! :D

Yes Smokescreen, you answered it well. I haven't posted a character app yet, I'm trying to get read up on the RPG's history first. I am thinking I will put in a character app for a G1 character tomorrow. I see most are taken at the moment, but quite a few are left.

Is there any in particular you, or the other mods, would like to see in the game? I am was thinking Swindle or Thrust, but if you need an Autobot I would be willing to play the good guy.

Thanks again!

Thrust or Swindle (or both, if you choose) are good choices. Swindle would have the other Combaticons to interact with and all of them have players. No one has the two other coneheads at the moment, but Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp are all played so he would still have some aerial guys to interact with plus the usual Decepticons in the barracks and such. Basically any Seeker or any available member of a team will have a built-in set of characters to interact with, which makes getting rolling in a new game easier.

Maybe one of Soundwave's Casseticons would be worth taking a look at also. Normally characters like that are so obscure that they don't get much love in RPGs, but here recently more people have been playing with some of them and they've been getting more to do, so that's an option to consider.

As for Autobots, maybe look at guys like Powerglide or Hoist or Brawn. They're pretty well-known and yet haven't received a lot of love inside the game itself.

And of course if you stick around long enough and play regularly, new character doors can open up. In my experience, a good number of taken characters are negotiable in the right circumstances. I built my roster up from only playing the Constructicons (back during the days when one player controlled a whole team) and then just Onslaught when I came back. So, what you start out with is rarely all that you'll end up with, if you're eyeballing others on the list. Hope that helps :D
