I've come to understand that designs come out before the toy so the designers for the toy have to make that design a reality. But most of the designs for the movies and prime are'nt even possible like Ratchet from prime for example, his vehicle doors end up on his chest. With that vehicle design and robot mode that would'nt be possible in a transformation from vehicle to robot so I don't give the designers hell for the faux chest... actually i give them credit for pulling both off. Recently I've seen complaints about the designs for A.O.E. Galvatron and Lockdown and I'mwondering wtf!!! Galvatron doesn't have enough kibble and Lockdown has too much. Me personally I like the robot with vehicle parts showing when its in the right place but with Galvatron for ex. I don' t see nothing wrong with the way the toy designers went from vehicle to robot since from what I've seen that robot from that vehicle wouldn't look like that. If you feel the same or not discuss this with me.
the problem is the placement of the kibble.. rather than making it work with the robot mode, they basically just let it hang off the back and the sides.. that's a problem.
rotf prime had some kibble, but they worked it in such a way as to make it fold up nice and neatly.. with prime especially.. they don't. and that is due to the over simplification of the line in general.. not to mention they have made these leader figures CONSIDERABLY smaller than they were before, which again hurts the possibility of hiding the kibble.
i mean, i don't think many people thought they could pull off rotf leader prime as well as they did.. most of us thought it was impossible to accurately design a toy for that character design.. hopefully this is just the 07' version of prime where it's decent, but the next crack at the design will yield FAR better results.
i mean, look at hound.. there aren't too many vehicle mode parts visible in his robot mode, but they were still able to pull it off very well. it's just a shame that they couldn't do that for a $45.
and hell.. with leader prime they didn't even need to factor in the space for electronic lights and sounds would take up.. not to mention battery placement, which makes the result feel really lazy.
all i want is more DMK's from takara.. DMK prime is probably the best piece of movie merch i own.. and he doesn't even transform. i would LOVE dmk's for AOE prime, lockdown, bumblebee, hound, galvatron, and hell, throw in dotm starscream and megatron too. man, i'd be in heaven.
