Hey all,
I'm new to the forum so please forgive me if this is a weird or in the wrong section to ask. My brother-in-law is a transformer collector and Christmas is coming up. I want to get him a transformer figure that is worth of some significant. I don't know much about which transformers are rare or which is not. I'm looking for something within 50-100 bucks area. My brother-in-law has been collecting since he was a kid so he got a lot of the old figures. As of now he goes to retail stores regularly to get transformers. I just want to know a new or recent transformer that is somewhat rare. So far I seen the "Dark Guard Optimus Prime" and comteplating on whether i should get it or not. Would someone like to give their input and educate me a bit? Much help is appreciated!

well an imported figure is always nice in my opinion.
Plus Dark guard op looks great so i think your brother in law might like it.

Perhaps a Masterpiece figure would do justice. Although expensive I wouldn't consider them "rare."
See if you can grab a couple of BotCon exclusives, such as the Stunti-Con Job set.
Otherwise, imported figures are nice additions.

If he is a true fan and you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a small toy, you could try to get a vintage G1 Bumblejumper. I personally would love one but I'm not willing to pay $80+ for a toy that in the day cost less than $5.

Why not go 3rd party? Those are always made in limited quantities and they mostly will never be made officially.
Like the most show accurate Megatron that can transform and is reasonably priced, Hegemon.
Seen here with Energon Shockblast.
