Ratchet Head

Postby TM TM2 Dinobot » Mon Mar 13, 2006 3:04 pm

Okay. So I am becomming slightly obsessed with doing fan characters and Joe/TF crossover characters. I am thinking of doing E Snow Cat as Ratchet. Any thoughts on a head I should use? Also, and thoughts on any more characters he could be? Thanks

The only head I can think of that would be even slightly close to Ratchet's is E Rodimus. Maybe file down/cut off the head vent and leave the crest?

E Rodimus's head might look a little small on Snowcat. What about Towline? Shouldn't be too hard to add a crest to his head.

I was thinking Towline. The main problem there is I don't have one. I like the Rodimus idea though.

I could also do Trailbreaker, but a black snow vehicle seems... dumb.

You could always find a way to make it not a snowmobile...

Towline is the perfect choice for Ratchet and Gi Ironhide. I did customs of both using that figure (as did BotCon coincidently), and they can be found in the Kitbash gallery. Resculpting the head is really not that difficult and mainly requires modifying the helmet. Towline?s helmet already has the crest on front, so the resculpt is much easier for Ratchet.

I got mine when the Energon toys were still being released, before Cybetron started, so? You might want to check on line sources.

don't have snowcat, but from seeing him in stores, that head might be way too small. I vote Energon Rodimus.

Never liked the towline head. Too fat. Almost reminds me of armada hotshot's head. Facial features carved into a predetermined shape instead of the face dictating the shape and then the helmet being built up around it. Kind of like the difference between Alt. Silverstreak's head (SWEET!) and Alt. Prowl's head (disapointing at best, solid cast, wierd lack of cheeks, no jawline).
till all are one.

I think it worked rather well. Just need to work on the "horns" a little more.

looks like it could use some fileing n sanding to smooth out some of those plains. But yea, I really like that body as rachet and that head is a good choice for it. Marvel comics rachet that is (I think thats the only 'verse that he has a red helmut).
till all are one.

And DDP. And since he is a Joe/TF crossover, that seemed right.

Thanks guys!
