Meh, I saw that gif on FaceBook when one of my friends posted it. Never saw The Island, but it didn't look good to begin with. As for the footage being recycled, I'm really not surprised, this is Michael Bay after all, his idea of a plot is building a model of a building and blowing it up with an M-80, but it was interesting to see the scene in the original movie then how it was edited in DotM.
I have the same mindset as EssThree about 3D. Its very much useless, only as a gimmick is it effective. Its also a technology that is older than a majority of the people seeing this movie I believe (unfounded fact, I know, but it is a good guesstimate), so using it nowadays is just like recycling footage, useless to argue over, and not worth the jacked up price to see a movie in 3D.
What is the cost to see a movie in 3d again? Last one I saw was Alice in Wonderland (GREAT movie BTW), and I think it was around $20 per ticket while the average cost of a non-3D ticket is $9.50. A shit movie is still going to be shit if you see it in 3D or not (I'm not saying this movie is shit as I haven't seen it yet, I'm just speaking in general).
