Maybe if Megatron said he wanted to transport Decepticons to earth to kill the Autobots/gather energon to aid in rebuilding Cybertron, that'd make more sense.

How do we know it has no atmosphere? Besides, even if it doesn't I'm pretty sure Cybertronians are smart enough to build machines that provide oxygen.

Technically I believe Cybertron is not supposed to have an atmosphere (but this is the bayverse). Sure, but you get the daftness of it all, right? Its clearly the only way to make the movie appear to have a threat for humans. not to mention there are probably other alien planets with creatures that are more adequately sized and equipped to handle such huge machinery... least in the Transformers universe.
Its like hiring a bunch of pixies to rebuild the twin towers.

I think they would have them do the work on Earth then transport everything to Cybertron. Humans handle huge machinery and have built massive structures already, I don't see how they wouldn't be able to build things for Transformers

The movies don't make any mention on whether or not Cybertron has oxygen, however the planet often does in other continuities (G1 and Animated at least).
However, it was implied that humans would never go to Cybertron in the first place, making that point entirely moot.

And clearly the Decepticons have not found more suitable aliens to use as slaves, or they would've used them. Dylan in fact points out humans are the only "usable" species the Cons have encountered.

Honestly, the movieverse's "daftness" is fairly tame amongst the various TF continuities.

I find this perfectly logical.

EDIT: On topic, I did not at all notice the recycled footage, it blended in perfectly. Though I'm glad they didn't just straight-up used the same exact footage (that is, they added Hatchet(?)), it's a bit less "cheap" when they add something new.
I must admit, I expected that armored bank truck to be that Decepticon one... which never transformed at all.

They would do the work on earth... So where are they going to get the raw materials on such a tiny planet that isn't even quarter the size of Cybertron?
How long is it going to take to rebuild using human labour instead of just rebuilding it themselves, and why not just rebuild it themselves? Is tiny little weak fleshy men so critical to building huge machines that are of completely alien software and hardware design, not to mention designed for beings up to 100 times their own size?
What about the energon that powers their machines? where are they going to find that?
While we're going, How come bumblebee still can't talk? Seemed fixed from the end of the first movie.
How come Dylan knew how to turn the spacebridge pillar back on? Is smacking somthing the way to turn on everything in the Bayverse?
Why did they leave 5 pillars behind? they only needed Sentinel to come back online, why leave clues for the Autobots to figure it out?
Where did all the Decepticons go after they came down from Cybertron? You would think when autobots show up, they'd be impossibly outnumbered, but instead we had a handful of drones, and a bunch of High Ranking Decepticons like Starscream and Soundwave taken out by Bumblebee and Humans...?
Where did Topspin, Leadfoot and Roadbuster go?
Why are there Decepticons flying crafts? There are a ton of Decepticons who ARE crafts...
Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Octane... ?

Why did Megatron hold back from killing Rosie? :HEADHURTS:
The movie is full of plot holes, and if you compare it to the story of a lot of the comics, TF: Prime, Animated, and even Beast Wars, it pales. Its a mainstream movie targeted towards the widest possible audience, and therefore it attempted to place a threat of human enslavement to aliens to make it weigh heavy as a lethal force to be feared. Decepticons don't need humans for anything. They just need the energon, it should have always been about the energon.

We've got metal here, it may not be enough to completely restore Cybertron, but it's better than nothing
How long is it going to take to rebuild using human labour instead of just rebuilding it themselves, and why not just rebuild it themselves? Is tiny little weak fleshy men so critical to building huge machines that are of completely alien software and hardware design, not to mention designed for beings up to 100 times their own size?

I don't think time is a factor, they can live for tens of thousands of years. Maybe even indefinitely if they have enough energon. Why enslave humans, why does anyone enslave people? It's cheap labor. Transformer technology isn't beyond human comprehension. Remember the first movie where Simmmons said all modern technology was reverse engineered by studying Megatron? Plus they figured out how to harness the Allspark's energy. Like I said earlier, we already have giant machines we use to build massive buildings, so size isn't a problem either.
What about the energon that powers their machines? where are they going to find that?

energon can be converted from other sources. In RotF they were going to use the sun to make energon. We've got plenty of energy sources on Earth that can be used in the same way.
While we're going, How come bumblebee still can't talk? Seemed fixed from the end of the first movie.
Mikaela said he was still having voice problems in RotF. I think he said "Sam" in DotM when he saved him from the guards. His mouth even moved when he said it.
How come Dylan knew how to turn the spacebridge pillar back on? Is smacking somthing the way to turn on everything in the Bayverse?

He was working with the Decepticons. He had that watch so he's been around their technology.
Why did they leave 5 pillars behind? they only needed Sentinel to come back online, why leave clues for the Autobots to figure it out?

Those 5 were with Sentinel, if they were missing the Autobots would have been suspicious why they took them and left Sentinel alone.

They spread out over the Earth deploying the pillars. They thought the Autobots were dead until they showed up in Chicago. They didn't have the time to get there before the whole thing was over.
Where did Topspin, Leadfoot and Roadbuster go?

When did they disappear? They were in Chicago during that battle. Just because the movie focused on more important things doesn't mean everything else ceases to exist.
Why are there Decepticons flying crafts? There are a ton of Decepticons who ARE crafts...
Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Octane... ?

Crafts are bigger, faster, and have better firepower. Those 3 weren't in the movie.

Why did Megatron hold back from killing Rosie? :HEADHURTS:

He was preoccupied with not being Sentinel's bitch.
The movie is full of plot holes, and if you compare it to the story of a lot of the comics, TF: Prime, Animated, and even Beast Wars, it pales. Better than nothing?
Transformers technology is beyond human comprehension. Just coz they realized that you can use pistons and combustion engines doesn't mean they know how Transformer technology works on such an advanced level, thats just assumption.
Reverse engineering a cpu is not the same as creating a positronic net or whatever TFs use in their brain. What about energy-mass conversion technology? All the allspark does when harnessed by the humans is turn inanimate metallic materials into living robots.
Humans and the materials are simply too little to do anything that any sane person would say is "saving" cybertron. If thats all it takes, I doubt Cybertron is that bad off to begin with.
Yea, it could take thousands of years, but that still equales a flimsy plot, and nothing Megatron can comment as being "saved" when all he has done is seen Cybertron from earth.
The fallen is the one bot who was going to use a SPECIAL DEVICE to basically DESTROY the sun to create the energon/power. Solar power harnesed by humans barely powers human electronics
Really, I don't give a **** about BB in the movie anyway, the simple fact that his voice reverted back sticks out as being bumpy story telling, since somthing we all accepted to remain changed actually didn't stay changed in the next movie.
Yea, coz Dylan had a front row seat, even though he was running around inside with Rosie, I highly doubt he saw what Sentinel was doing (which looked like sentinel didn't even need to make contact with the pillars)
Just coz the Decepticons spread out meant more couldn't come down through the spacebridge bringing in cybertron? And ALL of them using ships is pretty weak when in other lores, most TFs prefer to be without a ship unless its a special case of transport, or huge attack. Its what makes seeing the Decepticons exciting, coz they transform and attack.
Roadbuster and the rest shot at Shockwave, then reversed and that was the last we saw of them until the very end. Sorry for wanting to see more TFs in a Transformers movie.
If Megatron didn't care about humans that much, and already had the urge to kill the human, I'm sure he would normally just smoosh her, and then deal with Sentinel... no reason he can't do both, just a flick and shes dead. But of course its a mainstream movie.
Free labour is better than doing it yourself, but when the plot of the movie is based on that, its a pretty **** plot. We also enslave other humans, not ants.
The only thing that makes sense is the Decepticons leaving the 5 pillars, I had a feeling there might have been some reason for that.

heh ... funny. Debating about whether humans could rebuild Cybertron or not.

Last I checked having a massive planet like that turn up in orbit the Earth would have been torn apart from gravitational forces.

I think Sentinel's earlier line about TF tech breaking "our laws of physics" was meant to sort of explain why Cybertron didn't immediately destroy either the Earth or Moon, even if it's a lame explanation.

In all fairness, most science-fiction ignore even the most basic scientific facts. Unicron and the Death Star should have caused havoc on their target planets/moons long before their 'preferred' method of destruction.

by that logic why dont we use ants or monkeys to build stuff for us

aside from the size and strength differential its the technological divide

the cons would have to

- train humans in cybertonian machinery and tech
- keep a food supply for the humans
- ensure the human race reproduced
- deal with potential uprisings

all this effort for slaves which would be less efficient and less capable than themselves

I think that he was talking about the actual space bridge, since it can teleport things. It could be explained that somehow Cybertron is equipped to not be be affected by gravity or something.

I didn't mention the whole gravity problem coz if you really wanted to make it make sense, it could be that Unicron/Deathstar/Spacebridge pillars all have gravity dampening field emitters that counter it... But the core problem being the use of humans, I didn't bother with the gravity deal.
