I jumped for joy thinking this was going to be a G1 cartoon accurate head for generations orion pax. Then I clicked on the thread and saw toyworld orion and my heart sunk. Now im going to go get up and look at my orion real good and see if I really need this. I dont have a toy dogo account and am feeling kind of lazy to create one for a stinking prime head. It does look good. Anything more than 20 bucks will be a pass though...

Edit: I gave in, no account required to order. Now here's hoping somebody makes an Orion chest piece to get rid of the Bay inspired split chest look.

You say that about everything by Toyworld or Toyworld related. You're worse than me, because I always reach the point that I actually stop posting unfounded negative crap whenever someone shows up that's somehow related to something I hate for a reason.
And your complaints are less valid than the times I hate on something, because the stuff you're hating on here is really good.

The head looks a lot like the Voyager Classics Prime head, very nice.

It's an extremely generic looking Prime head on an extremely awful looking prime body. It's like putting mayonnaise on a turd, it doesn't taste any better and your not fooling anyone. >:oP

the new head looks like it belongs there, fully embodying prime. and the mold is highly regarded amongst those who own it. why not just make a thread titled "i hate toyworld rabble rabble rabble" and be done with it?

No it's not. That Optimus design was a hit in the fandom when it first showed up in the comics, since it's like a mix between Movie and G1. They executed it quite well, not perfectly, but better than what I expected it to look like in toyform.
The head is also perfect, since it' very much like the Classics Voyager head, just with a better face. Not only does it fit perfectly with the figure, it also fits perfectly due to the fact that the design is somewhat inspired by Voyager Classics Prime.

What did you expect the head to look like? Megatron?.

That's just the thing, I do like the design from the comics, and in fact it's my absolute favorite design for Optimus Prime to date, so when I first heard Toyworld was going to tackle that design I was ecstatic. This execution in plastic however is mortifying, and I refuse to believe this is the best that could be done with it as I have seen scratch builds and super deformed figures more faithful than this junk, and at this point I think I'll be going down that path myself before giving Toyworld any slack.

The head really doesn't remind me of classics prime at all, and I should know since it's still standing loud and proud at the front of my Classics shelf. All I see is a slightly altered MP prime head, which is about as generic as it gets for me.

What those do however is not transform into the truck. This version suffers because it transforms into the truck mode, all others do not, or turn into a halfassed truck (like the SD versions). This is what happens when you take one of Don's designs and try to turn it into a toy.
It's not a perfect representation, its proportions are too short for instance, but it's the best that'S currently possible, and still keep a faithful truck-mode.
The head really doesn't remind me of classics prime at all, and I should know since it's still standing loud and proud at the front of my Classics shelf. All I see is a slightly altered MP prime head, which is about as generic as it gets for me.

Well, then you should look at it again, Classics Prime is one of my fave molds and I recognize a homage to it when I see it.
The head is pretty much the same, just larger, more detailing, with a more MPish faceplate. In other words, it an improved version of Classics Prime'S head.

I don't disagree that Orion could have a better head but I don't think this is it. I don't like it. My Orion will stay as is, for now.

I'd call baloney on that by showing the scratch build I was thinking about, but it seems that in the time since I last saw it it's been buried in the depths of the internet. :BANG_HEAD: My point is I've seen it done better, transformation and all, so again I'll give no slack for Toyworld.

EDIT: Wait, here it is! Okay, so it's not perfect either, but I'd say it's a damn sight better than Orion ever will be.

Also I told you that I know what Classics Prime looks like, He's on the shelf right next to me, and I don't know what YOU'RE seeing, but the comparison between CPrime and this new head is paper thin. Even if it DID resemble CPrime's noggin' I wouldn't be sold, because this fat excuse of a prime would need to be rebuilt from the ground up to make it look remotely passable.

Some photos of the latest Renderform PAX head for TW Orion. This is work in progress still. Photos of the final version will be posted soon. This is the first Renderform project co-created with another artist, and long time friend Weewoo, who some might remember from TFW2005. Best known for her 3D renderings.

I paid for this a while back and was waiting for an update. Did anybody get a version one in hand ? Did I get shafted ? Or is he just taking his time again ? I wish he would forget those silly botcon swords and finish this. The whole pirates/knights thems was something nobody gave a crap about. If he would have made a nice G1 gun for Ginrai in orange, I would have bought it.

really? i thought lots of people gave lots of craps about it. i know i did.

sure would be nice if you toned down the negativity, and didnt imply or assume everyone shares your pessimistic views. its goddam draining.

There has been no mass release yet. Venksta is pushing back the release date as he makes revisions to the head, per the responses from fans. For those who were too late to make the initial pre-orders, toydojo did open up the pre-orders again recently. Some were initially reserved for a toy convention but the convention came and went and the heads are not finished yet. I believe this second round of pre-orders might have been filled up too though.

On another note, I was entertained by the above comments. If that scratch-built Optimus was to make a mass release parading as IDW ongoing Optimus, people would scream bloody murder and lives would be lost in the hysteria that ensues.

Maybe it is the photos, but I think I like the previous version better?

They eyes are now too skinny and too far apart from the nose bridge? And they might sit too far down on the face too? Too much silver above his eyes? I'm not sure? It is hard to tell from the photos I would need to see a larger shot I guess?

Or maybe it is weird shadows form the light piping and everything is fine, I really can't tell?

The darkened photo looks nice, but the angled shots don't look right?

I think I would like something in between the the old version and new version?
