I have the same problem with a couple of mine. I've tried tightening those screws in the knees to the point of striping but to no avail.
I just kept hunting and buying till i FINALLY found a tight one that didn't topple. The only other alternative to buying 4 of them like i did is maybe wedge a piece of paper in there or something to stiffin it up. It's an easy fix and invisible and that of which also doesn't require modifying/ruining a G1 figure. Insofar as useing nail polish or whatever like you would to repair a loose ball joint on a modern figure. Which in my opinion ruins the value of a G1 figure.
I continued buying them cause i wanted an"unassisted" minty Sludge that could stand on his own.
Hope that helps.....maybe.
