Cybertron.ca member megashockwave has posted an interesting item that was found in the Toys R Us Canada Computers.

TRANSFORMERS UNVRS G1 COMMEMORATIVE SRS
($49.99, SKU: 847585, UPC: 653569444213)

With an estimated shipping date of September 2009

If this is true then "F yeah!" because I wasn't collecting back during the first go around and don't want to pay some of the aftermarket prices. If this doesn't hit the US then I will be making a trip up north!

Not if it says G1 Commemorative :P

Although that would be kickass to see that again at retail

If it didn't say Commemorative series I'd say "oh boy...it's another frickin Unicron repaint..." The question is: who is it? Prime and Magnus were more expensive; Prowl and the others were cheaper. SO someone in size between those two...not the jets...they already did those. Soundwave was $35 too...makes you think, doesn't it? :-?

A Wheelie troop-building set?

...*shudder*

How about 5 repaints of Classics Bumblebee as Hubcap, Bumper, Tap-Out, Glyph, and Wasp?

That could be cool but I wouldn't want Hubcap or Bumper as their color schemes are too close to 'Bee.

If they did Glyph, Tap-out I would be interested. Wasp with a modded head would be pure win, And I'd love to see Shattered Bugbite, but I doubt they would do that one.

Maybe it's a U.S. release of Masterpiece Grimlock.

Just because it's a "G1 commemorative" doesn't mean it's an actual G1 figure. Here's hoping. :D

If the recent Prime re-issue was $70, well, this could be almost anything with enough 'extras'.

It's G1 Jetfire guys, I mean really it is. 8)

Or a G1 Devastator gift set.

You have to think movie tie-ins here! :D

Isn't that Canadian dollars? If it is, than it's about $43 USD. Anyway, it's probably the new Soundwave reissue with Ratbat, Buzzsaw, Laserbeak and Ravage. But I'd really like to see new TRU reissues (characters different from the ones on TakaraTomy's Encore series), especially if they show up in the portuguese ToysRUs. On Monday I got a Leader Class Animated Ultra Magnus for about $27.50 USD there on clearance :) .

What I'm hoping/praying:

-technically, Ricochet is not an North American reissue...so...I'm hoping we'll get all the other repainted "re-issues", like Artfire, albeit altered so that it won't piss off the vintage collectors. Though I do plan to get the vintage stuff eventually.

-something funny like, Wheeljack made from Sideswipe's body. Re-painted, new stickers, and even a remolded head.

-seekers with new color schemes, names, and bios.

-repainted and remolded G1 Blurr as Arcee

-1986 movie characters...so many to choose from: Blurr, Kup, Cyclonus, Scourge, Springer, Wreck-Gar, Octane, and/or Gnaw. Since $50 is too much for just a deluxe, maybe add in a Minibot, CD or DVD, and a reprinted Marvel comic book

The pessimist in me says:

-G1 Bumblebee, Pretender Bumblebee (robot only), and Classics Bumblebee as a 3-pack

-If it's Jazz, we'll get the G1 (with 2 less missiles and less stickers), recently released Legends or Action Master version, and an newly released Jazz in Classics form as a 3-pack.

-or 2 recently released deluxes repainted into their G1 counterparts

-Topspin, Twin Twist, and the recently released Roadbuster as a 3-pack, and they'll call it the Wreckers Pack

-Topspin, Twin Twist, and a repainted Evac as Whirl as a 3-pack, and they'll call it the Wreckers Pack

-3 repainted recently released basics, and a whole lot of unnecessary packaging, and a comic book

-2 repainted recently released deluxes, and a CD or DVD

-all G1 human characters with various accessories, Spike, Sparkplug, Chip, Carly, Daniel, Dr Archiville, Raul, Shawn (or Sean) Berger, Marissa Fairborne, Dirk Manus, and Astoria Waldorf

MARK THIS POST TO SEE IF I WAS RIGHT!!! Or even close.

I would love that. I wish the other Masterpiece Seekers had come with someone other than Arkeville.

Throw in the lass from Return Of Optimus Prime, and that'd be a must-havr.

I'd buy that...

I'm pretty excited to see what it is either way...

Some of my repaint concepts along these lines:

Topspin, Twintist: http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=17401
Wreckers Gestalt: http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=17869

You're a bad, bad man and should be in detention! :P Actually, both of you should be...you didn't give me the oppurtunity to make my smart-ass Wheelie remarks first.

Was Roadbuster released in any of the TRU Comm. waves? Him, Whirl and Blaster are the only 3 G1 figures that I can think of that could fit into the size range that might accompany that kins of pricing. The only other option would be a combination set and I can't imagine...wait a minute...Cassette packs. I could see Hasbro doing 4 or 6 packs for $50.00 and they have already started doing other 4 packs recently so mixing up the order and making the TRU Comms. would not really be much of a stretch for them.

Capellamusic had mentioned the Soundwave w/4 tapes idea but I would think they would charge more than $50.00 for that. I'm thinking they should release the tapes we haven't already seen. Maybe give us the Slamdance and Squawkbox sets and maybe Slugfest and Overkill in one box-set.

Personally, I would be thrilled to get a box full of G1 Micro-Masters at this point because I've become disillusioned with the ROTF and Universe lines and TFA never thrilled me to the point where I wanted to start collecting the figures.

If it is cassettes, then I hope it likely will just be a repack of the encore Big Mission pack(s).

Then again seeing they are bring him out again is Japan maybe it's the Combaticon pack. Cause I'd buy that.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Hasbro plans to do...but, if they did, that ARM-Cyclonus mold can only be called One Twist...not Twin Twist  :P

Wreckers gestalt? Could work.

What I failed to mention in my above post, is that it would be actual re-issues of the original Topspin and Twin Twist, not repaints. If Hasbro actually did that, would that stimulate the secondary market for vintage Jumpstarters? :P

I didn't mention cassettes as several posts mentioned them already. Though I could go for repainted cassettes with new names and bios...red chromed weapons on a black colored Frenzy/Rumble mold, anyone?
