Bad example, because they did. Watch Predators, and wait for one of the New Preds to take their mask off. Their faces are much more insectoid.SkyWarpsGhost wrote:Slight changes or a homage to the original would be cool, but this just looks generic. It's a remake, not a copy.

Which they did. They streamlined the armor and darkened the color. Not a whole lot you can do with the original Robocop design, it's pretty nondescript as far as armor goes.

Sounds like the new design is missing the point of Robocop, then.

No, the point of it is to be satire. Trying to look all cool and sleek goes against the spirit of it unless it's only so that they may include lots of cheesy and shallow marketing slogans etc.

So it's gotta be either Batman without a cape or The Mech-Situation?

Soldiers watch Apocalypse Now and Full Metal jacket because they contain rockin war scenes that get them pumped up. The Reagan campaign tried to use Springsteen's "Born in the USA". Obama brags about helping destroy the economic stability of the Iranian people in the same ways that killed hundreds of thousands of children in Iraq and is believed to be the lenient, progressive option in today's politics. I could write a more extensive list but this is exhausting to even think about.
Satire is dead because you can't come up with anything that is more awful and clownish than actual current affairs. Whatever you try to do will also be taken and presented at face value by considerable amounts of people.

This is real. It's real! You don't think it is. I don't want to think it is. I want to think that it's a particularly well-done Onion hoax. This is more absurd than comedy. Faced with this, what do you even do? What use is satire now, both as entertainment and as a tactic?

...I have no idea what you just said, or how any of this means satire can't be done anymore. Pretty sure the twenty Emmy Awards won between the Daily Show and the Colbert Report would beg to differ.
