Yeah, pretty much.

And the original didn't look totally goofy at all...

Duke of Luns wrote:It doesn't look like a man who's become a machine, it looks almost form fitting, not nearly bulky enough.

Looks about as bulky as Iron Man to me. Aside from which, look at Adam Jensen. If you don't know who that is, then let me explain: he's not wearing armor, those are his actual arms. Cyborg armor really depends on how much of him is still human.

Duke of Luns wrote:However, the "on the set pics" do have some nice detailing if you look close...but the black just makes it all blend together. The helmet also looks a little off(visor's too big?), but not too bad. However, still kinda bland. It really needs color.

The second pic, the one Burn posted, is a...I actually don't know what color that is. Like a very dark...teal, almost? It's hard to say. I do like the visor sort of blending in to the rest of the helmet in the first pic, though.

That said, black armor...I don't want to say black armor is "in" becuase it's always been "in." No one complained about Darth Vader until he took the armor off...

Duke of Luns wrote:Still though, the design of the suit could be overlooked if the end product is good, and there's no way to even contemplate that until a trailer is shown.

Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Jackie Earl Haley are on the cast list. So there's that.

I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. It looks too much like a guy in a suit rather than a guy rebuilt as a machine.

The original is a good example. The joints and detailing look like functioning parts rather than simple armor plates.

I really don't think the original Robocop looked goofy, however that could be nostalgia talking, and I honestly think it looks better.

The thing that really bugs me is the color though. I just find it boring. The reason it worked for Vader is because he was original and villianous. Robocop is supposed to be an awesome cop, so having that metalic sheen screams hero.

Also, for the record, not a fan of the Spider-man 3 symbiote suit. It looked like a spray painted Spidey-suit and I think it's terrible. A little white would have gone a long way...

Also, back on topic, does anyone know what the(for lack of a better term) "villian" of the new film is going to be? It doesn't have to be ED-209 but I really hope it's not just some gang of humans. Robocop needs to battle a robot.

Vader was far from original. There were no less than two Black Knights just like him in Arthurian Legend.

Duke of Luns wrote:Robocop is supposed to be an awesome cop, so having that metalic sheen screams hero.

I don't recall a superhero having a metallic sheen, outside of the Silver Surfer but then that's the core of his design. Batman has a preference for dark grey and black in the comics, and all-black in the movies. He's far from the only heroic character to wear all-black (Neo, Luke Skywalker, the Punisher, MIB, etc.) though he is the most successful to pull it off.

I have no idea what that has to do with any of this. You know he wore that suit for a while in not just the comics, but in pretty much every adaptation, right? The Symbiote suit in the comics lacked any detail, other than his eyes and Spider-Symbol.

From the Wikipedia Article, Michael Keaton appears to be filling Ronny Cox's role from the original.

He'll probably fight the ED-209 at some point, but, uh...the ED-209 was never a villain, it was just a machine doing what it was told by the actual villain, a corrupt CEO. Robocop never really battled another robot until the second movie.

Colossus from X-Men? Crusher Creel if he absorbs metal?

And I will admit I will go see this movie in theaters. A totally shitty early stage of the RoboCop suit isn't necessarily a deterrent, I just hope that's not the final product. It does need to be more metallic at least. But it might end up looking like Master Chief...

Also, I wonder if there will be a Clarence Boddicker uttering that awesome line from the original.

Ah, yeah, forgot Colossus. Still, though, metallic sheen isn't common amongst superheroes.

From the cast list, the character itself isn't coming back. But I do hope they include the line.

What the hell are they doing wrong? All people have done so far is complain about the design of the armor, and that's not even that bad. Because it's not an exact copy of the original design, it's the worst movie ever?

They are remaking it in the first place. Is there noone in LA with any imagination? Has all the good stuff been done? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :BANG_HEAD:

Remakes are not inherently bad. Ocean's 11, the Italian Job, Captain America, Hulk, Batman, Battlestar Galactica, Judge Dredd (Turns out the new movie is good!) etc. etc. Just because something is being remade, doesn't mean it's going to be awful, nor does it mean it's unimaginative. Just a fresh take on an old project.
