Surprised to hear that, I thought everyone generally agreed Unicron being Earth was awesome. Sure, it means we don't get to see him actually transform and be himself, but it provides explanation as to why Earth is so significant to the Transformers, and sets up a nice analogy with the machines/order and humans/chaos thing.

It's a break from the norm that Unicron is a giant planet that transforms. Here, he's still a planet, but not the planet you'd expect. ;)

And he doesn't transform.

Hey, if he doesn't like that concept and wants to be a Geewunner, that's his choice. We can't all agree that something is awesome.

This is pretty much how I see it! I think Orci and Kurtzman have done a fantastic job. Are there holes and imperfections? Yes, but nothing is perfect and they've done a great job of minimalizing the holes. Plus like you said, the way Unicron is explained is a great way of making Earth more than just a random planet the Transformers found. It answers the always present "why us?" Plus it gives the series a more impending doom shadow cast over it, that if anytime he awakens, the Earth is in serious peril.

They aren't writers, they're producers.

They are writers, but in Transformers fiction, they wrote for the films.

They are executive producers for Prime. ;)

That's what I meant, They're producers on Prime.

They messed up Rotfs' story and now Prime in my eyes.

G1 Unicron is a huge planet eater, destroyer of worlds! Despises all life, organic or bio mechanical etc. Then those two muppets screw it up by surrounding him in muck and organic life! As a Decepticon he would surely transformer and flick 'us' all off like ants without a 2nd thought.

It'll be like Captain Planet with elements next knowing them two.

That was G1 Unicron...from the 80s...not 2011.

He's not a Decepticon. He dismissed Megatron and his Decepticons, counting their help as worthless.

And Unicron isn't in some sort of alternate mode where he can just transformer. Matter gravitated towards his lifeless body made a planet. Therefore, he's in "robot mode," technically speaking. He can't transform and flick us off. :-|

Even if he could, I'm pretty sure he's no bigger than the Earth's core, considering he is the Earth's core.

Whatever happened to the new Alined Continuity? Or is everything being rewritten?

Prime Unicron is a Decepticon according to his toy box.

The Aligned Continuity is Prime, along with Exodus, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Exiles, [insert Prime here] and Rescue Bots in a respective timeline.

Nothing's being rewritten. They have a big production bible called the "Binder of Revelation," and the whole continuity has been planned out from the get-go.

Prime Unicron is a Decepticon according to his toy box.

Of course. They gave him a faction to sell the toy.

When have you seen Unicron help the Decepticons fight the Autobots? Unicron is of the faction called "neutral," and lives to rid of all disciples of Primus (Autobots), whether he has the Decepticons' help or not. And if the Decepticons are in his way, he won't hesitate to remove them from the equation.

Though, his toy does also come with optional Blentron symbols. ;) :BLEND:

Oh yeah, I remember that. Big nerdgasm seeing that. Although, I wouldn't put on either faction symbols if I had Unicron. :D
