So I have found a number of threads about general cleaning to keep whits white, but nothing about sanitizing.
I just had my basement flood this week. I know I shouldn't have stored some of my transformers in a basement closet but I did. 11 of my Commemorative Series MIB guys got submerged in flood water. The complication is there was a partial sewage backup, so it was nasty water.
The water company is paying for repairs and replacement, but I am almost certain they will not give me the actual cost it would take to replace these. And honestly, I'd rather keep them, not in boxes, than have them get trashed and receive a partial value.
So I figure my only real option will be to get them cleaned and sanitized, toss the boxes, and live with it. Can anyone recommend what I should use to make sure any bacteria is killed off but won't damage the transformers themselves?
Thank you so much for any assistance you can give.
