I can't remember if this was covered or not ...

I'm guessing more than one person can accept the bounty (it would be pointless if only one person could accept a bounty). Therefore, will they be obligated to display their progress (if hunting more than one target on a team) or can they simply breeze in with claims for all the heads and claim the bounty?

I think that's best left to the individual hunter.

As long as everyone who accepts the contract posts to say they are doing so, then the hunters should be able to use whatever methods they want.

Next thing you know we'll have a bunch of cowards avoiding certain players because they know they're after them.

Hmmm... The option of private contracts should always be there, that's true.

They will have to be limited to licensed hunters only though, as otherwise it'll be too much for me to keep up with.

I've also come to the decision that ill be 'running' this as my 'WarPorn Industries' team to begin with (most of you will know that this is exactly what it was created for, a new bio due soon will also help explain...) and that WPI will be the organisation issuing the licences. Ill pull them out later as the 'guild' settles and the game starts to run itself.
(Don't like that idea? Please suggest something better...;))

I know forum access is somewhat interesting as of late, but would licensed hunters deserve their own posting location to "hide" their intentions from the broader community? Targets could be submitted by PM to Psych or a hunter, it be posted, and to encourage community the success of the bounty could be posted in GD once completed.

I think it would be good that a target be told afterwords that they were singled out - but if desired the bounty payer should still keep their anonymity. Perhaps each submitted bounty can optionally have details released to both the hunters and the community and those details are provided at the time of submitting the bounty? (e.g. Source Faction, Source XP, Source "Rank/Average Level", etc. to anonymously indicate source but still provide enough information to make things interesting)

Also, to ensure payment, I'd recommend that a bounty be posted only after monies was transferred from the source's account to whatever holding area is deemed; like an evil pay-pal which disburses upon completion of MDK.

why cant OS delegate som of his jobs to other mods? if all the burden is falling on him, can't he basically hand out assignments to other mods?

Not if it's admin only stuff.

Though, if OS is busy doing other stuff, and he's the only admin for HMW, maybe there needs to be a second one who can handle the more board based admin stuff while he works on whatever top secret black project he's working on.

Don't forget that whatever is done it cannot crash or break the rest of seibs; all the login/user account basics are inherited from phpBB so it's not a from-scratch seibertron code base.

So I'm not surprised that the maintenance of anything related to the HMW code (financials, forum acccess, etc.) in the slightest fashion is delegated to him only. Without some serious process and version control it's very difficult to have multiple hands in a single code cookie jar. The delegation you mentioned does make a lot of sense - but even that takes (significant) preparatory work so that an average (or below, like Psych :P) moderator can make significant changes to the game.

User titles in specific though - that does seem more board related BUT it sounds like it would require some level of site code modifications. Frankly though, I'm just glad I'm no longer a "Mini-Con"... it was embarrassing how long I had that title.

I'm not saying they'd have to do anything drastic. Just handle the minor things that are board side that they can't do as a mod. Like user titles. Things like that.

OK. Well I like it cos it cant be forged like a sig can, so Ill check it with the admin about it, answer may take a while though.


To recap;
A thread will be started in GD advertising the 'licences' for bounty hunters, awarded to applicants once they have scalped an existing hunters complete team.

Clients fill in the form on the first page and either:
1) Post it in GD. The hunters then 'declare' they are going for it publicly and race for the scalp, there is nothing to stop non-hunters joining in. First person to post the last kill wins.
2) Submit it privately to any hunters they choose and resove the bounty via PM's. This is an option for licenced hunters only.

Completed bounties are sent to me for payment by the winning hunter until a better system is devised.

Have I missed anything?
