If we look the events with dark energon do not add up from the games as well as the primes series, and in WFC we can assume that orion pax never existed, since optimus was in fact optimus before becoming a prime.
In Fall of Cybertron, Teletraan 1 calls Optimus "Orion Pax" at first.

yes but in WFC we have a ton of characters referring to optimus as optimus before he would have become optimus in the prime show. Even Bumblebee refers to him as optimus when relaying a message regarding him, before optimus actually identifies himself. My guess is that the teletran 1 thing is just a gag high moon put in the game. It might have been a reference to the other continuity in the same way that the excuse me scene from the grimlock gameplay, and the "spare me this mockery of justice" line from WFC are both references to the 1986 movie.

Cant wait for this figure, hopefully we'll see more beastformers in the future. Only thing i dont like about it is the clear plastic and the alt mode looks to much like a zoid, but other than that it looks like a solid figure.

In the War for Cybertron comic, he starts off as Orion Pax, but is renamed Optimus Prime right before the war begins. He rejects the Prime title and is just called "Optimus" until he's forced to accept his true calling as "Optimus Prime" after they rescue the late Zeta Prime.

I'm not sure if I'm getting this or not. It's a bit too 'Transformers Cybertron' for me and not enough 'Beast Wars'.

The pirate/new faction thing doesn't do anything for me either (I'll be covering up my G2 Decepticon symbols on Amazon Bruticus with Reprolabels Decepticon symbols :P).

Thundertron is going to be one of those figures like Skyahmmer (for me). Didn't really need him in my collection, but upon seeing him in store, just had to grab him.

If you don't think pirates are cool, heres a song that might convince you otherwise.

The whole album is pirate themed, fyi.

I'm sure you had a lot of helpful info in that comment, but I was dissuaded from reading it due to the near total lack of punctuation, total lack of capitalization, & all-around lack of readability.

Even so that still contradicts the TFP timeline as we know it. In the show he only became optimus prime after interacting with the core of cybertron, still being orion pax before that. Even if the story did match up, it's clear in the prime show that upon meeting the core he was physically reformatted into a new body by the matrix/core which did not happen in wfc where he was given the matrix and only stored it away.

I like Thundertron because he's:
- a beast-former
- a space pirate
- a new faction (which I hope doesn't get swallowed up by the main two over time)

A welcome breath of fresh air after all these Movie/Classics/Kreo/Prime/WfC/FoC/BotShot Optimuses/Bumblebees/Megatrons/Starscreams/etc. etc..

Looks like I'll be having Thundertron instead of Dreadwing and Magnus :D. I love his ancient-ish look and I dont have a lion-former in my collection xP. Cant wait for it to arrive in the stores.

PS : To those who's still wondering why some people love this figure...That's cause every human is different. Dont expect them to like the same thing you like and dont expect them to hate the same thing you hate. There, nuff said.

I watched both seasons of TF Prime and there was no damn Thundertron. Who is this guy ? He seems to be a new mold so is this character coming in season 3 ? Or did they just stick an animated head on an old unused mold just to make money ?

He (and the rest of his pirate-y crew, the Star Seekers, ARR!) are from Exiles, a prequel comic to Prime (depending on who you ask, that is).

Other members of his crew include: Axer, Cannonball, Sandstorm, and Brimstone.

Ratchet was the one telling that story, and he was never even present to bear witness any of the events he described, so none of it was from his memory. Therefore, the images shown in that flashback could have only come from either his or the humans' imaginations, in which there are bound to be some inconsistencies from how the events actually played out. Plus, with Ratchet having not been there, it's possible that he got some thing mixed up from secondary sources who told him of those events (or, he's just getting senile  ).

Not to mention the fact that, after Optimus lost the Matrix's energy at the end of the episode, he did not revert to any previous body form like he would have had he gotten a new form upon being granted the Matrix. Everytime someone has gotten a new physical form upon receiving the Matrix, they always reverted back to their previous state after the Matrix's removal. Yet, no such event happened to Optimus when he emptied the Matrix. He only lost his memories, not his bulk. If he had been upgraded before, he would have at least gotten smaller or something. But he did not.

Besides, Optimus's official profile of the Fall of Cybertron website describes him exactly as Exodus and the Prime cartoon said he was like before becoming Optimus. Everything official wants us to treat him as the same guy across the board. Why continue to fight what's canon?

Where on Earth have you been during every single discussion about this toy on this website? This guy from the Exiles novel, a fact Hasbro explicitly spelled out when they first revealed him at BotCon last April, and is a part of the Prime cartoon's universe. He's even going to be a major antagonist in the upcoming Transformers: Online MMORPG game, which is also set in the world of the Prime cartoon.

Honestly, I am a little disappoint...

First of all, I will just go ahead and get the elephant in the room out there..."Motorbreath" is just an insult to a great character we all know and love, and have been waiting for a decent fig of him (not to mention the rest of his team) for FOREVER now...

And I am not too fond of Wheelie being a generic Jazz repaint...from the pics it doesnt even look like they bothered to re-mold the "flip-out window-speaker" thingies from Jazz's mold...not to mention the fact that Wheelie should be scout class, at the most.

Just like Hasbron't to take it's customer demand and turn it into a complete FAIL of a product. I understand these are supposed to be "simpler" version of transformers (maybe for like, little kids to get started on or something) but still...

I am loving the updated Soundwave/Blaster voyager bots...but I am somewhat underimpressed with the Ejector/Rewind pics...if Rumble and Frenzy are done in the same mold, i am not seeing much in the way of articulation which basically rules out any cool pile-driver attachments for those two (at least from what I can tell visually from the pics).

FoC Grimlock = RULE. Same with Shockwave...does anyone know where I can get some size comparison pics (i know these are new projects but fans always want to see some scale info)

Not too much for the alt mode of the pirate, but the bot mode looks pretty good. I like the novelty of the peg leg.

I welcome my new Decepta-pirate Over-Lords. Megatron has wasted one planet so badly that even though he won he still doesn't want to live there. I don't even think he is fun to hang with either to be honest.

P.S. I hope Ultra-Magnus gives Prime a hard time. Prime has too many sycophants and there is a strong possibility that he might just preach a Decepticon to death. :BOOM: :CON:

Thundertron ain't no Decepitcon. In fact, he'd be appalled to be even associated with a Cybertronian faction. He utterly dispises Cybertronians, beauring some sort of grudge-like vendetta against them all. He is a Star Seeker and proud of it.

From what we've seen of him thus far, Magnus is loyal and honorable to Optimus.

I don't know why I'm only just thinking that a lion is an odd alt-mode for a pirate. He's still cool and I still want him, along with Dreadwing. Fix that Mechtech weapon in blaster mode and paint it silver and grey and it'll be awesome!

Yeah, you'd expect a pirate TF to turn into a shark or octopus or a pirate (space)ship, but it's kinda refreshing that the only thing stereotypically "pirate" about him is the (optional) pegleg.

Still, I'm hoping he gets a crew of more 'typical' beast-formers. In particular, a small parrot that can sit on his shoulder is a must.

I also can't be the only one who made that connection, especially after he turned out to be blue and white.
